A Wisconsin man stands trial for allegedly murdering and dismembering his parents without remorse, and providing false information on their disappearances. Chandler Michael Halderson, 23, faces charges including first-degree intentional homicide. Remains from his father Bart Halderson, 50, and mother Krista Halderson, 53, were found days apart, authorities said.
Defendant Halderson reported his parents missing July 7th, claiming they left their home in the Village of Windsor days before on the 1st. He told WISC-TV at the time that they were going to the village of White Lake, Wisconsin.
“My last message I got from them, they were going to White Lake for the Fourth of July,” he told “There are some festivities that go around there. Better drink prices at the bars. Stuff like that.”
He said that to his knowledge, they were then going to their cabin in Langlade County.
“Along the way, they could’ve stopped many places,” he said. “I wouldn’t know all of them.”
He was allegedly just feeding everyone lies.
Bart’s torso was found in rural Dane County, while remains from Krista were found in Sauk County and property run by the Department of Natural Resources, according to court documents obtained by The Wisconsin State Journal.
Their son had been searching Google for terms like “Body found Wisconsin,” “Woman’s body found in Wisconsin,” “Wisconsin dismembered body found,” and “Dead body found in Wisconsin,” authorities said. Investigators suggested Chandler Halderson used to a visit to property belonging to the partner of his girlfriend’s mother as cover to hide his father’s torso nearby. He had shot Bart Halderson at least once before dismembering him, officials said.
According to investigators, Halderson said after his arrest that “you don’t know the whole story,” and that he “didn’t feel bad about what I did.”

He seems to be the only liar out of that whole group. Probably why they didn't question him, honest people don't think like that. When I was younger it never crossed mind that my boyfriends were liars, the shock of finding out I didn't really know them is the only reason I'm suspicious of people now.

Why this guy has pleaded Not Guilty is beyond me. He has absolutely NO defense. It really shows his character, or rather lack there of, making his brother, ex-girlfriend, her mother (the poor women was an emotional wreck on the stand), his uncle and everyone else go through a trial, he should KNOW he can’t win. I guess he keeps living in his fantasy world. You know, the one where he has a job with American Family, is one class away from graduating college and has a job lined up with Space X in Florida. That fantasy world.

@honorclarkescatacomb67

@@YeaNo. Just my own humble opinion here. I think it partially has to do with their attitude. The defendant did not show any grief, or facial expressions other than annoyance; let's assume this guy really WAS innocent. Let's say he was framed; he would be destroyed that his parents were dead, angry that the culprit was still loose, and the defense could have used that, but Chandler has the emotional range of a coffee table. Even against almost unbelievable odds, sometimes these guys walk away; for that to happen the jury has to like them and the defense team, which in this case they obviously don't. Those 2 women should have been prosecutors or law clerks. Even from the first virtual hearing to set bail, the grey-haired woman was a straight up you know what, insisting on a 10,000 bail for 2 murder ones because for him, 1, 000 dollars might as well be a million. They made themselves so unlikable he didn't have a chance (which was all to the good). A really good defense attorney is like a psychologist,;they watch the jury's faces to see what resonates and gives them more of that.

Hard to defend hard evidence. Unless you have a pair of gloves that don't look like they fit. please just stop it unless you have a lawyers degree. If the lawyers had done their job they would have begged the prosecution for less time for a guilty plea. That would have been impossible W /O the death penalty, this state does not carry the death penalty. The prosecution had way to much evidence to accept any plea. Spoil your kids and they turn on you bc they are entitled to all you work for your whole life. Don't hold them accountable and they take your life. We were raised with a work ethic , I raised my boys to have a work ethic. That teaches them pride in themselves. You give them everything and then they are entitled.

Agreed 💯 Controversial, yes, but this type of case is the very reason the death penalty exists in the first place. He was given everything and it still wasn't enough. @@9sheri9 I used to think monsters like this deserved the death penalty too. That seems like an easy way out though...if he spends the rest of his life in prison, he'll hopefully be miserable and think about what he did every day for the next 60 years. For sure, monsters like this should not get "normal" prison privileges like books, TV, internet, libraries...just a dirty dark cell with nothing to do would be much better. Just my 2 cents
@9sheri9
@9sheri9 2 жыл бұрын
@@chrismeier3805 I actually agree with you in some of ways. And I honestly appreciate being able to speak civilly about it with you-- it's kind of rare these days when ppl disagree. 🙏💕 We should be able to just throw him down a hole where he has to contend with his own thoughts for the rest of his life. But we can't. All humans have basic rights, including prisoners. He would still be afforded basic needs & comforts; seeing as how this joker didn't want to work or really do anything with his life anyway, he'd probably be ok with a nice long stay in solitary confinement. The prison system in the US is for-profit, and the cost to house a prisoner can amount to an average of anywhere between $35000-75000/year, based upon some light research I did a few years ago. (I encourage everyone to do a little research of their own into this subject.) Why should a company be able to profit off of keeping this guy housed for the rest of his life? TBH, I guess my reasoning with it all really has more to do with the current structure of our prison system. But to be fair, Halderson's actions were beyond barbaric. I'm not one to ever fully support death penalty. There is a lot that is wrong with our justice system that makes the death penalty a frightening facet to the way we sentence people. But if it exists, which it does (apparently not in WI though), then I'd suggest that Halderson is a strong candidate to receive it.

It's a common thing defense lawyers advise their clients to do. They do that because people who sit through lengthy proceedings that are nerve-wracking for them tend to be fidgety with their hands or let their eyes dart around the room, which often gets misinterpreted as a guilty conscious or a gernerally shifty personality. Subconsciously we associate nervousness (or at least lacking confidence) with lying and deception - but given the pressure of such a trial, even if you are innocent, that's a dangerous assumption to make. So defense attorneys tend to keep their clients busy with something that makes them look attentive, serious and calm.

I’m not all the way through this video but hearing her explain how much she’d taken out of the barn, how many large, bulky items were in there, and how far back the rifle was found, is much more understandable as to how it was not found the first time through. Remember, they didn’t know something was in that barn, just looking through yet another building on a 30+ acre farm, that Chandler had full access to for multiple days, for something to jump out at them that could be tied to these crimes.

@@lb8781 - Chandler is a thin guy, who was looking to hide that rifle in a hard-to-access place. He probably had to put some effort into the hiding place - crawling over things, squeezing between others, and then moving the boards he used to conceal the rifle. First trial I've ever watched, and as it turns out, there's a reason I keep watching: according to the comments, that judge is pretty exceptional 😇 I do find that he runs an orderly courtroom, and despite being controlling and polite, he still comes across as sincere. Oh, 1:03:10 lol, aw, look at that deputy fussing over his moustache and tie, that's cute

Oh, I wonder about that 2! Or the judge in the Ahmaud Arbery trial! That dude is a stone cold, no nonsense judge, duh-rell would have been intimidated by him for sure and acted accordingly. He only treated Judge Dorow and Sue Opper the way he did bc they were women. He loathes women..

I don’t think so. He’s opportunistic. He’s discarding evidence where he has the opportunity to and where he feels it (and he) won’t be discovered. I don’t think he’s trying to set up Cat, Cress, or Dulce. That would just lead things back to him. He can’t go into public to discard things there are cameras and people everywhere. He figured let me try to dump things on this semi remote farm.

Thank god in some ways this came to fruition. She could have wound up married to this man & god knows what kind of horrors time would have unleashed over time. He was a profound pathological liar and she would have exposed him eventually. The girlfriend was absolutely fine. He put her in this bad situation & now that he’s gone, she will be much better off.

With how lazy that man was, I’m sure he was more preoccupied with cleaning and disposing of the bodies. He hadn’t gotten around to the shoe cell phone drivers license. He might’ve also been planning to send another text to himself before disposing of it maybe but situations changed his probably vague plans

I had a family visit from texas one summer. They had a 8 year old boy who was spoiled rotten. He was the BOSS. His parents had to take orders from him!!!! Everyone who met them said that they were creating a monster. They would laugh off any criticism of their boy!!! When his father would not give him a $1,000 dollars for a poker game, he killed his father.(The boy was 20 years old when he was given a life sentence in texas).

I think it's funny that the defense was just repeating everything the prosecution said about the tennis shoes they could have said something like maybe they were running shoes and that's why they had debris on them. No body even said whose blood was on the shoes.

I really don't believe he tried to implicate others. By placing evidence there (quickly, as he could plan in his mind before he actually arrived), he avoided trying to find a place where hed have to spend more time, worry about trespassing and being discovered, or doing his depraved work at night. He was lazy; coward is at the heart of his soul.
