My kid (he’s 14) was telling me about this yesterday. I had trouble following it all, but he was upset that these creators that he’s followed for years might be terrible people.

Saying “I’m going to therapy” reminds me of when people say “I’m sober now”. It’s good that you’re doing that, but it doesn’t mean you escape accountability. I’ve been sober for 15 yrs and when I was making amends it helped that I was sober and going to therapy, but I had to show that I had changed and still had to go through the consequences of my actions.

I was talking to my kids about this because they followed a lot of people that were in the SMP, as a parent it's opened up conversations about consent and what that looks like and signs to look out for.

I hope she doesn't feel like she's lacking intelligence or in any way at fault. She's smart. Some people are just effective manipulators.

Something I wish was talked about more with this whole situation is that Wilbur and Shelby talked about the biting (idk when, or if Shelby even mentioned it) and Wilbur blamed Shelby getting hurt on her having a low pain tolerance. Obvious victim blaming aside, this is as close as you can get to a direct admission that he didn’t care about her without actually saying it. Idk about anyone else, but if someone I care about says something I did hurt them, I would make sure I don’t do it again in the future. He was, at the very least, fine with her being hurt, and fully admitted to that. He can claim she consented to the biting all he wants, but, assuming what Shelby said was true, he was actively fine with abusing her all the same. Idk, maybe I’m making a bigger deal of it than it actually is, and of course the biting is the big thing. This just feels like something that is harder to explain away

Thanks for the video. This was a tough one but Shubble and all of the other victims are brave to come out with their truth of what Wilbur did to them. I don't get why biting should be a kink to begin with. Shubble explained that Wilbur would say that "this is who I am and you're gonna have to get use to it," No one should be use to getting bit for no damn reason. That's abusive behavior PERIOD. As someone who is currently stuck in an abusive relationship and not being believed, because of how manipulative he is, this hurts my heart. I hate for anyone to deal with any of the pain that I’ve experienced, and especially for those that have it worse than me. There NEEDS to be more resources available for people who are not able to afford to leave an abusive relationship, or who don’t have a safe way to get out. So sad for these girls.

I watch Minecraft KZfaq a lot but I actually never really got into the dream smp, so I feel like I’m less aware than lots of other Minecraft fans. That said I saw Wilbur in other places like Minecraft championships where the Minecraft KZfaqrs I watch participated, and tbh he was one of the dreamsmp crew I thought was fun to watch (not that I necessarily disliked any of the rest of them; I just wasn’t really interested in their personalities/content as much). It sucks when a creator you think is cool ends up being a shitty person, especially when it screws with the entire Minecraft community. Shubble is also a Minecraft KZfaqr I’ve watched once or twice (that’s part of the reason people made the connection between her and Wilbur), so it sucks that her sharing her story might turn people off her content indirectly because they don’t want to engage with a toxic community. I’m sure even if it did though that she made the right choice in sharing her story

I’m glad she came forward with her story. Young people need to hear stories like this so they can understand when people aren’t treating them well. Even if they’re not abusive but they’re doing something you don’t like, you DO NOT have to put up with that! There ARE other people out there that will treat you nicely!

i used to also have chronic insomnia that started from a VERY early age. faking asleep would be difficult for me because any sound would wake me up as i fall asleep or i just simply couldn't sleep even though i was tired. i'm grateful mine improved when i got to college but sleep was such a struggle for me for so long

I’m not sure if you’ve investigated this deep, but I’ve been aware of Wilbur since the Soothouse days. I used to watch Soothouse with my “edgy humor” friends back in high school, so I was surprised to see him pivot to more kid-focused content with the Minecraft streaming. But based on the things the Soothouse crew used to joke about, I’m sad to say I’m not surprised to hear about the allegations. Disappointing, but not unexpected.

When my little brother told me he had started playing Minecraft, I simply smiled and told him how great that was. Then I turned to my dad and whispered: "Do NOT let him play it online!"
