Thank you Jane ❤ 3 years and counting. He still calls me Monday through Friday, but not on weekends because he lives with his partner. He, tells me the plan is still to move here from another country, 3400 miles away, but nothing has happened yet. He is waiting to resolve an issue with a will. It's been 8 months and the will still hasn't been probated. Meanwhile, he goes on living his life, and I am still clinging to the fairytale. 71 and getting closer to the grave, I just want a loving, in-person relationship. I joined a dating service, but lots of scammers are on there. I am losing hope.

I'd be losing hope too if this guy you describe was who I'd chosen to put my hope in. Believe me, it's not you! Also, most of us don't have the hearts - or stomachs - for online dating unless you know for sure what your blind spots are. You can go on and live your life too, just like him. He will always have a next excuse!

Thank you for reminding me to live my life. I feel as though I've been putting everything on hold while I wait for him to move here to be with me. Meanwhile, I am getting one day closer to the grave. Should I date? Should I travel? What should I do while waiting.... He is wonderful in communicating daily.

I feel like he’s there for me on the phone we talk often for 8-10 hours a day mostly. But I also feel like I’m more invested emotionally. I’m always checking on him. Seeing how he’s doing, how’s he feeling etc. I would love it if he could reach out besides asking what I’m doing or good morning. I would love it if he could ask me how I’m feeling or confirm that he is here for me if I need anything. I haven’t verbally heard those words of confirmation. @jane

Stop checking on him. Stop seeing how he's doing, how he's feeling etc. Does he pick up the slack? Or are you playing both roles in a relationship waiting for two people to show up? It's so telling when you stop operating out of fear!
