As we get deeper into the renovation of this abandoned house, we are finding more and more issues. The biggest issues are the collapsing roof, fixing hidden electrical issues and repairing all of the water damage to the home.
Back at our personal home, we button up our garden and pour concrete!
Shop Our Apparel: www.bunkerbranding.com/pages/...
We are a couple who are building our own home from the ground up in the mountains of West Virginia. After living near the city our entire lives we finally decided to sell it all, pack up our 3 kids and live in an RV on our 73 acres while building our own debt free, off-grid house and learning to live a more self-reliant life.
Our house build is documented entirely on our main channel "Wild Wonderful Off-Grid" and our family life vlogs can be found on our secondary channel "Wild Wonderful After Show"

I teared up big time when I seen Chuck’s name in the concrete. I still miss seeing him in every video. When remodeling any house, it’s like opening a Christmas present, you never know what’s inside, lol. It’s going to look gorgeous when you are finished with it as all your projects do. Keep up the fabulous team work.

I've probably said this before, but don't know how y'all do it. I'm going to be 60 in August, and my brain still thinks I can work as hard as I used to (don't ask me why, but I love physical labor)...kinda sucks when you come to the realization that you can't, even when there's something deep inside you that makes you feel like you have to do "hard work". Not sure if that makes sense😏

I grew up in a small town a few blocks from shopping, from parks, from the ocean, from dense redwood forests, you name it. The houses were small (800-1400 square feet on average) and there were about 10-12 houses per block, but we had a good sized back yard considering the size of the house and the density of the housing. My dad worked as a machinist 60 hours a week 5 days a week, and then frequently another 12 on Sunday in his own machine shop he had in the back yard. My mom tended a sizable garden, sewed clothes for us kids, and made dolls to sell, and every sunday when my dad wasn't working in the shop, they were both either working together in the yard, or on some kind of renovation project in the house redoing one of the 3 bedrooms, or the living room, kitchen, etc. They were always working, except on Saturday, that was vacation day and we as a family would go to some state or national park, sometimes leaving late on Friday night, then returning in the early hours of Sunday morning, other times we'd just take a day trip up the coast, or to some street fair in a neighboring town, or into the city and go to a zoo or museum, or once or twice a year maybe an amusement park. Despite that, watching these videos reminds me of my own childhood. You guys are always on the go, working on the next project, and balancing home life and work life, yet still enjoying life at the same time.

Your ability to think out of the box…. WOW!!! The dog kennel was a great way to deal with two areas. Score! 1 purchase 2 finished projects! Love the sidewalk. And Chuckie included!!!! Oh my heart. I understand the excitement of the sidewalk. Anything that slows the dirt coming in! Only thing that could make watching your family even better would be a lawn chair sitting back in person. Something popped into my head while watching this video. Not sure why. But I suddenly asked myself, why the kids don't have a tree house. It's a nice little side project for content. Also. While you guys can do the main structure and important safety bits, the kids could do all the rest with advice and help from you guys. Also get their skills improved and looking to the future, for them doing this for themselves. Yes they will in the near future have rooms of their own. But, a tree house is a get away. A private place. A sanctuary. A fun house. Just a thought. You might already have one just have not shown it. I'm also not suggesting filming the work the kids do. Just your parts, and the finished article. I know. The list is already too long. Keep it up. You guys are great. Regards Mike from UK.

Actually, I love this idea! The kids can design, plan, buy supplies and build their tree house much like their parents built the house and document it on video from start to finish. With so much land around them, each child could have their own little tree house as well.

Every time I watch one of your videos I'm transported back to my childhood in West Virginia, especially when I see Ellie running around barefoot and wading in the creek. At one grandparent's there was a blackberry patch in front and a gooseberry patch in back. We could snack on them all day. At the other grandparent's there was a creek with clay deposits to shape things out of. There was also a garden with tomatoes and green beans to snack on.

You guys are truly an inspiration. I’ve seen your videos in passing on KZfaq over the years. But I’ve finally taken the time to watch more of your journey. I just wanted to say that lately I’ve slowed down and tried to live a more safe, balanced life. But these videos remind me that life is only worth living when you push yourself, live outside of the box, and learn! Your kids look the happiest when you are living on air mattresses on top of subfloor with no working light bulbs. Mine are the same. Kids love adventure… adults do too… I think we just lose that as the stress of life builds. Thank you for the inspiration, my families next adventure starts now! All the best
