Good information, i seen so many guys doing it with somekind ridiculous wide grip, thumbs outside and lowering to the chin... Thanks Mark keep doing nice job

These people are so lucky to live in the same town as rip. I'd have done anything to work under his guidance when starting out.

I've learned several things I didn't know about the press from reading Starting Strength and watching the videos Rippetoe has made about it. I seem to only have pain when I *rack* the bar now after a heavy set. Not in the wrist but in the rear shoulders.

humungus3 He's a strong kid. Saw him on the starting strength Instagram doing 500lb x 5 squat, 315lb x5 bench and like 260lb x 5 press

I prefer false grip. Feel easy in my left shoulder with my hagl and labrum lesion. Also I feel stronger.

There is no mechanical benefit to doing it any other way.

So, if an extended wrist is not efficient for force transfer, how have our ancestors ever lifted something overhead? Obviously you can't keep a neutral wrist when lifting a stone or irregular object. When lifting an object with faces -- as opposed to a barbell -- you'd always have to have some degree of flexion to create a table for the object to sit on. Am I wrong?

They weren't lifting a barbell with the stated goal of lifting as much weight as possible with that barbell, Scar. They were lifting a stone, not training with a barbell.

What if you take the correct grip but the bar slides down your hands and it ends up being incorrect?

Ideally the bad shouldn’t slide if you have a firm grip in your palm correctly. You could try chalk to help
