Have you seen the Aqara FP1 Human Body sensor? It seems to be able to detect if a person is in the room, even with little movement. I have the previous Aqara Zigbee motion sensor and I have been able to get over 18 months from the single 2024 battery. Obviously it depends on how busy the area is, but it's been impressive so far.

Having dedicated access to the luminosity values would be great. That's what I'm looking for at the moment. Tradfri and ThirdReality motion sensors do have "No motion" triggers, at least with my Aeotec V3 hub with SmartThings Edge drivers. I don't recall that being exposed when I had the Tradfri motion sensor connected to z2m.

As the device do send link updates these could be great to carry the luminosity data. The trigger wouldn't be instantaneous but good enough to set the brightness based polices without the wait for the motion trigger

Sonoff motion sensor cooldown is 1min. Is there anyway to reduce it to secs? If i can it is about hardware or software? btw i cant buy aqara it is too expensive for me

Does the luminosity value reset on the motion reset? I bought the older aqara motion and light sensor and it doesn't update 1 without the other, but if it is completely tied to the motion and I set the motion down low, that would give me the light data I need.

On motion trigger the lux data is submitted and logged. Then it's down to the automation how it's being used. On motion reset new lux level is provided if the light level changed

does this have same problem as most motion sensors that it detects false positives when sun heats ground that is in field of vision?

You will have to wait till August for confirmation. The UK and heat spots indoors... not something that happens often haha. Chances are it will, as it uses infrared for detection.

I am a little confused about how the Detection interval/time out works and can’t find much info on it. If i set it to 1 sec does that mean it turns ON for 1 sec, looks for motion trigger then turns OFF for 1 second, then just repeats the loop? So for a 3min internal it turns ‘ON’ for 3mins looking for a trigger and then turns OFF for 3 mins? I am a little confused since if it is ‘OFF’ for 3 mins it saves battery but is next to useless for detecting motion.

timeount is basically a timer that tells automation how long would it take to report false after a positive trigger

7:40 it would be nice if you crop in to the text a bit. People who view it does not see it as clear as on your screen, and even worse if the screen is on a mobile device.

I Just got this new P1 sensor and have it connected to newest zigbee2mqtt and it works but the blue trigger light for motion is detected doesn't seem work or is in stealth mode. Does any body have this issue or knows how to turn it on?

I haven't seen Z2M settings for that. Something tells me if you set it in the Aqara app it would retain it when paired again with Z2M

I just got this sensor based on this review and others like it. What no review mentions (and I only found out first-hand and later reading about it on reddit and the home assistant community discourse) is the awful range of motion detection. Testing it in perfect conditions (chest-level placement, clear field of view, dead on center from the sensor), it only detects me up to 2 meters (6.5 feet). Putting it up in a corner, that range drops to less than 1.5 meters. Nowhere near the advertised 7 meters of motion detection range. This is extremely disappointing, especially as I also have the original aqara motion sensor, which works perfectly in my hallway (over 5 meters range). The fact that no reviewer mentioned this (and it's actually a widespread complaint if you go read comment sections) shows that none of them actually use the equipment they're reviewing.

Have you set the detection sensitivity? These need to be set to required settings to give the best performance. I don't know what's the current ability to do this from 3rd party, but if the sensitivity is set prior to pairing with custom coordinator it will inherit the preset.

Just wanted to warn everyone, I just got a P1 sensor and it performs absolutely horribly!! It barely recognizes motion, no where near the 7m advertised... Google around for issues, everyone is complaining the sensitivity is trash...

I'd check if you don't have the interference. Is the sensor visibly reports motion (led light up) but doesn't post? Or just flat out refuses to? Another thing could be battery. If both fail... Contact aqara perhaps you got a faulty unit. I found mine to be pretty spot on with it. If you are running it without aqara hub via Google/Alexa hub then I'm not sure how firmware updates are resolved through that

@@notenoughtech I'm using sonoff ZigBee 3.0 USB to communicate, it connects fine and triggers my lights instantly from when the LED shows it detected, just the range is real crappy...
