As a community we’ve got to stop the sexualization of little boys and girls particularly. It’s damaging and has often lead to blaming little girls in abusive situations under the misguided notion that she was “fast” or “wanted it”. Furthermore it’s completely inappropriate to even talk about a child’s hypothetical future sexual behavior or deviance. They are young children this type of talk should be off limits.

thats the slippery edge with comedians tho..people want to pick and choose what inappropriate jokes or line of thinking to laugh at. things that could be considered stereotypical/inappropriate humor is still subjective and in no way will ever have a consensus with society. if youre the type to not joke at anything deemed inappropriate then good on you. what u find funny can also in turn be offensive or inappropriate to someone else..then what?? whos the judge, whos is right or wrong. A lot of folks pick and choose and its so unfair to comedians. she wasnt being malicious and obviously echoing a common stereotype with black mothers..

@@ljgil850 ... i see what you're saying. On the other hand, there was no mention of the boy being "fast" when he, too, was in a relationship. That's where the harm comes in. *We* always harp on the girl's part in something and not the boy's. And it may not be malicious to you, but it's just weird as hell to in any way imagine the future sex life of a child.

If you think that an 11 year old girl is "too fast" then it isn't on the girl, she has already been groomed to certain behavior. Children are sponges they absorb what is around them. Writing off an 11-year as too fast, is horrific to me. She is a baby.... a CHILD. I am so disappointed by the conversation, or rather non-conversation. Edit: , To think a black woman's first instinct is to protect the boy from a "fast 11-year old", just reminds me of how long we have to go.. Not that she shouldn't protect her sons, obviously she should, but we would do better to encourage open dating discussions, instead of keeping everything in the closet.

I felt so hurt by what was said (idc if it’s a joke) because 11 is still so earnest. She sent that with a child’s heart, and if it was a misstep, she should be given the grace that children who are still learning, should be given. We take the youth away from little girls a little more everyday, and it breaks my heart to see them treated with adult intentions because that started happening to me around that age and it was so confusing and painful to see people, adults, I looked earnestly treat me with hostility. She needs protection just as much as the boy who evidently has similar feelings for her does

@@emndiaye9019 EXACTLY -- she needs just as much protection. I just felt they were saying some of our little girls are inherently sexual or inherently disposed to promiscuity and that just breaks my heart. It is that thinking that allows so many of our your girls to become sexual abuse victims and have no one to turn to and that mold them into these fast women. It's such a provincial and mysoginistic mindset and I was horrified. I have watched most if not all of the Here's the Thing, this triggered me. Not for myself but for every foster child who has crossed our threshold have been the victim of KNOWN family abuse. (Especially with the over sexualization of little (black) girls). Even if she felt like the child was wrong, AS ADULTS it's our job/duty to either correct children with love and guide them in the right direction, or respectfully ask to speak to their parents. In that child's little girl hear she most likely thought that she was doing the polite, respectful thing by reaching out to an adult. That comment was not okay and was way over the top. Maybe one day IF I have a son I will be able to understand but right now, on this day, I don’t get why mother’s are so ugly towards young girls dating their sons. I have been subject to it and was called a gold digger, mind you I had 3 jobs. My mom had it happen to her with my grandma and auntie and cousin. They even wore white to the wedding #petty. We as a black community gotta stop doing that. It’s not cute and it’s immature. Black mothers need to take a step back and trust that the values you have instilled into your son were enough for him to make good choices. Keep that same energy when that young girls father pulls a gun on your son when he first meets her family. See same ugliness.

I feel for u and although I'm not even a mother, I can understand where Angel is coming from regarding this particular scenario. She wants her son to introduce the girl he likes so that she feels he's not being led to do something he doesn't really want to do. I remember my first real boyfriend had a mother who was nice but very opinionated. I was just being myself and let her and his sister bring me into family stuff. When she found out we were breaking up years later, that was the first time I ever saw her cry. She really thought she was about to have a second daughter.

@@AJ-gd1ww but then that begs it's own question, why is it so threatening to see a strong willed little girl? Why is she assuming the son will be led astray? For all she knows, the girl would be a *good* influence. There's not really a lot of reason to project nefariousness on the little girl's intentions. She's just bold and straightforward. I think it's a little backwards to look at that as a bad thing. Again, if a boy did it, we'd probably think it's cute

@@monmon-vk8rz For this situation, I think part of it might be that she is only 11yo and coming at the mother like she's an adult. I don't think Angel said it was bad, just not right for her son. And for an 11yo child, she can make that decision for him. As an adult woman, I wouldn't even want my boyfriend to do what that little girl did. I would feel like, let me tell my parents about u and I'll introduce u when I'm ready. I know, for me, that's a quick way to get booted out my life. It would make me feel like he's trying to rush me.

@@chidenisee yeah I get what you’re saying.. but at the end of the day they’re children and they need help if that’s really what they’re doing, and you don’t really get anything out of socially outcasting them. Kids are kids.

As someone who has boys, I understand where she's coming from. Lots of kids are deeply immersed in social media, and the things they see online are hyper-sexualized. So some of them are the same way. Yes the kids need help, but that help won't come from my boy. So she will need to stay away from my baby.

What Angel said was questionable, but also a conversation starter since many of us have things to say on the issue. Personally, I think the little girl's comment was innocent, and it is wrong to assume she would want to do anything physical at or near her age. It just seems like she wanted to respectfully approach the mother and did not realize it was inappropriate. Her comment showed mental maturity way, not sexual maturity. So it's messed up to assign those attributes to her. She should be corrected but not demonized. Also, using examples of kids who got pregnant in middle school isn't relevant to this issue since there was nothing sexual about her comments. However, we can't ignore the factors that contribute to those kids being sexual at a young age. They were likely abused, didn't have their innocence protected, or weren't taught the difference between sex & love. That's sad. We should be trying to fix that as a community, not blaming them because they were failed by those around them. Like, you can want to distance your child from that and have empathy for a failed child they aren't mutually exclusive. I wanna hear what you guys think though!!

All I'm going to say, this is why some kids do stuff behind their parents back. Not because of peer pressure of friends but because of how some parents will react. This kid is 11! And that dm was nothing but wholesome and exactly how cringy an 11 year old can sounds around grown people. I don't agree with Angel's reasoning Even though I can understand where she's coming from, I don't agree with it. What kind of control is another kid going to have over your kid at this age? Telling him they have to sit in the cafeteria together as a couple or steal a pack of cigarettes? I think it's more likely the first one. Let kids have their cringy moments together and grow from it. Also this would also be a great moment for him to learn how to stand for himself, because you don't want to learn that shit as an adult. Older women baby young boys so much to the point they paint young girls as the one who can ruin a fine young man's life. These same women would also join in on conversation about how black men are misogynistic, colorist and violent towards black women as if they didn't contribute to that in any shape or form. Black woman need to heal themselves from the scars society has given us. We owe that to ourselves but also so that we don't harm the next generation of girls of what we had to go through and I hope and pray Angel does that.

What’s crazy to me is, if this was a little boy talking about a little girl, it would’ve been cute. But because a little girl tried to respect her Lil boyfriends mom has NOTHING to do with sexual activity. The Lil girl NEVER mentioned anything physical at all. Please don’t put adult judgment on children. Secondly, how bout you raise a son strong enough to not be led anywhere and don’t turn a little girls intelligence into a flaw
