Why didn't you change gear with the paddles. it obviously didnt work as the car was changing gear itself . ????

2014 bmw 3OOOcc N57 engine I think, model 4x4 550 diesel estate, I am trying to find someone who will, can change the timing chain. they think I am stupid, they try and tell me you have to change the crank shaft and Bearings as well , and maybe arm rests as well I expect ,. lol.

Double check if all bolts are out..if yeah then force is the only option,but all depends what’s the back story on clutch

I've looked on Auto Trader and there are some there but little nervous to buy as I don't know much about them ect if you're looking to sell the 7 2.8 i just may be interested. Cheers

I’d say best E38 is the 728i or 730d if you can grab either one…. For the US folks… they are screwed since 740i/il and 750i/il were the only options…. M62 and M73 engines aren’t ideal when it comes to reliability compared to M52 and M57 engines…

The way I see it is that the lovely S62 comes from an already perfect car: The E39 M5. Taking one of these off the road to upgrade the E31 is not ideal.

***YOU MANIAC LOL*** I’ve had my ‘01 E38 from acquisition in ‘05. Restoring with Halo front and LED rear lighting. Interior wood all refinished in carbon fiber, along with carbon fiber badge kit. Re-dye all leather, replace headliner in ‘faux suede’, and powder-coat the wheels to new. Suspension refurbished, next is top-engine overhaul. ***I will be buried in this car*** Cheers mate 🍻

As they say “the most expensive BMW you will own is the cheapest one to buy”. After 200ks they are cheap to buy. Not designed for affordable longevity. As a diy person this really puts me off the BMW diesels, will stick with petrol, M54 say.

Good job. Obviously the turbo failed because of the tuning to add more hp to the engine and/or the owner was a little bit too hard on the engine

why you dint take out the engine and replace the gasket of the head? is that mandatory to do?

@@Assimilator1 nothing wrong with mine. I did it like you and few weeks ago i went to sell my car and the guy was selling me that I did it wrong and I had to take out the head gasket and bla bla bla...

change the fluid and filter in the transmission is my number one tip with these cars. also a coolant flush is also a good idea when buying these cars. if i bought e38 I would just change all the six fluids just to be safe in the long run
