Hello. I have a question please. One of the local FM stations here in Tampa is run out of the University, and I notice the radiators are placed halfway up the antenna. Why not mount them at the top? Thank you.
@TVJAYАй бұрын
It really depends and could be one of the following.... 1) The top of the tower is already used for something else. 2) They are renting the space and the higher up you go, the more it cost. 3) The tower was rebuilt and the license could not be modified. 4) The license was moved and based on the equipment the station owned that is the what made the most sense. 5) The coverage area isn't that big so they did not need to go all the way up to get the coverage they were allocated.

You would need to use a capture device. I prefer BlackMagic DUO 2 cards. They are designed to go inside a full size PC. If you only have a laptop then you would have to use some sort of USB 3 or Thunderbolt converter.

Have you ever used Sencore Demodulators to create feeds into a switcher? Like a Sencore 2600 IP output into an Atem Mini Pro
@TVJAY2 ай бұрын
We use Sencore demodulators (also known as IRDs) at work to receive satellite and microwave feeds. We then feed them through AJA FS-1 units to frame sync them. I don't think you can feed the ATEM an IP feed.

@@TVJAY I've had issues with the Atem Extreme while recording & streaming similar to what Joe explained during your stream. I had strange issues with my 2 M/E, had to send it back not once but twice. I'm now on my 3rd 2 M/E that is sort of stable. Periodically, I have to recycle power because it hangs on boot. I purchased a new HyperDeck this past January. Sent it back immediately because all it would do is quick flash the Record Button. Shortly after that I purchased the Web Presenter HD. Like the 2 M/E, it is sort of stable. Haven't had any issues streaming with it but there are times when it just is not found by the Web Presenter desktop software. When this happens, a power cycle usually fixes the problem. Overall, for what I do, I can deal with these BM idiosyncrasies. But I totally get what you are saying when it comes to mission critical environments and importance of reliability.
@TVJAY2 ай бұрын
@@QuikTechSolutions Thank you for sharing your experience. I turn off all of my BM gear every night after I stream and I don't have any issues but I am also using older gear.
@QuikTechSolutions2 ай бұрын
@@TVJAY I also turn off all my gear as well after each use. I fire things up when I get into the studio after being off all night. Even after everything is freshly booted, I sometimes have to power cycle the 2 M/E or the Web Presenter. As a rule of thumb, I just power cycle the Web Presenter just before going live. Shouldn’t have to do that, but I do to avoid issues at the start of show. Now, I have one of the original HyperDeck Minis in the rack that has performed flawlessly but it’s older hardware. There’s definitely something to be said about that. It’s almost like the older hardware was better designed & built to last. Seems like the newer gear with all the bells & whistles have a tendency to be problematic. Hmmmm 🤔

BM is advertising their equipment as having NMOS controllers built-in, but they don't have it implemented, yet. I've got a few 2110 IP converters and an I/O card. I'm having to use Easy NMOS to do the routing. It's not for beginners -- and it's not a friendly setup, yet. If you're just routing between 2110 converters, you're ok, but when you start using the PCI cards, you enter in a much larger realm of complexity. When I spoke with BM's engineers, they weren't sure when they'd roll out the controllers (video hub controllers) firmware that has the NMOS controller baked in, but thought it'd be later this year. Very frustrating.
@TVJAY2 ай бұрын
Well that is good to hear that they are going to have it baked in but I agree that it is very frustrating that it wasn't included at launch. I honestly think the easiest thing for BMD to do is launch a stand alone program to as the NMOS controller for every device on the network, kind of like UniFi's controller but maybe I am overlooking something. Thank you for the reply.
@plrpilot2 ай бұрын
I agree. It appears they are also baking this into their $2800 10G video ethernet switch. It has a very similar select/take interface as the videohub master control pro. Ironically, if you read their documentation verbatim, there is no product with the name they listed, although you could assume it's referring to the button-only version of their video hub smart control pro. Having a separate program -- maybe in their video hub software family -- would be perfect.

Did each device have a wan and lan port? Looks like you are only running one cat cable into it. Does the internet run into the power adapter and then to the device? Maybe I’m setting mine up incorrectly. Can’t get them to work. Trying 2.5miles no obstructions. I have the CPE999 device which is marketed as the CPE10KM on their website. Also there is no signal strength meter on these ones and the lights are so dim during the daytime I can’t tell if they are on or not. lol.
@TVJAY2 ай бұрын
I was just doing LAN to LAN as these units don't have a WAN port on them. I have done a 10 mile link before at work that lasted for almost 7 years but that was on tall buildings. How high are you able to put your antennas? You are going to need some height in order to go 2.5 miles.

@@TVJAY one home is on top of a hill about 700 feet higher than my other home at 2.6 mile distance. Clear line of sight from the roof of each home. Discovered the slave device radio isn’t functioning. Connected to both directly and the 5g radio is not functioning on one device so I need to figure out how to contact them to return one of the devices.
