Oh, about gatekeeping Margit - I know how it feels. I remember beating Father Gascoigne - first serious mandatory boss of Bloodborne - with summon too. I did use summoning bell just to see what it does, like I wanted to now how this item in my inventory worked. But it was worse - it summoned a real player, who killed Gascoigne for me without any struggle and I could continue playing the game. I was a bit salty - I didn't expect that effect, so I never used that bell anymore in the game. But I also felt relief, cause that boss was stressingly hard, so I was also in doubt, like, should I play this game any further or not. But I did, and I finished it and it's DLC killing every single boss at the end, but that starting difficulty spike wall was also memorable. But in Elden Ring you are not obligated to struggle with Margit. It's an open world game, so you can just go on somewhere else.
Amen! Let people enjoy summons! It IS easy mode and you owe it to yourself to try bosses without summons. But if you really can't take it, then summon away. I would say NPC summons built into the area are actually important content and skipping them is depriving yourself of the intended experience. So Rogier is absolutely legit. Spirit bell summons are for new players or players who really need an easy mode because they don't understand what git gud really means.

Marika tricked Death so she could steal Godwyn's soul. It goes like this...Marika stole Maliketh's eyes and replaced them with others she controlled like a Stygian Witch.(the 2 fingers are this). The trick on Death/Maliketh worked enough to allow the power of death be wielded on Godwyn. Marika didn't care if others might be watching through other eyes her plan to steal Godwyns soul as long as she got the immortality. Like the Stygian eye or Pilantirs others were watching and plotting. Shattering ensues bc Marika isnt going to be punished alone

while it is a good video for lore breakdown stuff, it is old and over time more information has been dug up, like some of the stone monuments were translated and hint at things surrounding the DLC, so some of the info in this video may become disproven, while some could be just proven further. Other things that have been talked about in the community are things such as "mushroom" lore (the Erdtree might actually just be a giant mushroom) and connections to the deep lore of Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones, such as the Weirwood trees having a lot of similarities to the Erdtree, in that both are fed the corpse of the dead and have a far reaching root network or a mycelium network if both the Erdtree and Weirwoods are mushroom coded. Essentially, there will be a more definitive lore video in the coming weeks and maybe even months down the line as the DLC surely will have hidden details just like the base game

The game is a huge cosmic horror when u move closer to the throne Like The entities or sth above cant influence or rule the land between directly. They need speaker or translate aka 2 fingers. They need something to rule the land aka golden order. They also need a guardian the link between them and the land, something do their dirty work when things happen aka elden beast. So when u destroy the elden beast, mean that u destroy the last link between them and the land, cut off them dont let them influence the land anymore

Hey Grubby! Just wanted to mention, there's dispute on the nature of the various Outer Gods (Whether it's as it's stated here, or if the Greater Will is a supreme god, with the others like the God of Blood or Rot or Chaos being more akin the embodiment of those concepts that have been excluded) and of the nature of the Crucible (whether it, and life before the Erdtree, was an earlier incarnation of the Greater Will's order). Basically, the argument is between whether or not these are cosmic gods playing King of the Hill, or if it's a capital G God, with its incomprehensible divinity, and with everything else being subordinate (Lands Between and all who dwell within) or without substance (God of Blood, Chaos, the Rot, etc)

Ziostorm does some pretty decent lore videos also, same with Tarnished Archeologist. but the latter might be too long form for you. Vaati is definitely the authority of Soulslike Lore, but Elden Ring is unique that a LOT of other lore YTers happened and Vaati did a good and honorable job of not stepping on their toes with his established community. Props to him for that, and props to you for taking the first plunge into the deep dive that is Elden Ring Lore and Souls Lore in general.

@arditlika9388Күн бұрын
One thing Grubby you are missing is viewing the word "God" in Elden Ring as literal, it's just a royal title. The game is a race on who will take the throne and marry Marika, that's it. Look at the candidates for "Godhood", they are all women with royal bloodline, who can legitimize your rule. The "mending runes", are just whatever philosophy you will adopt in your rule. Ranni has no mending rune, because in her ending you do not become the "king", so to speak. Both of you leave the population to decide their fates for themselves, which is why "fear, doubt and loneliness" just means the uncertainty of not having your fate dictated to you anymore. I really dislike Vaati and many lore creators because they treat the story as this cosmic grand thing, instead of a story about royal succession, fighting for your own fate, just generally human themes and stories filtered through grand fantasy.

But yet, you cant deny that the final boss is a cosmic being, tan dthere is plenty of cosmic hints in the game.

well.. you're mostly right. we are the tarnished, what are the tarnished? well, you can look it up elsewhere. why do we go there? we want to be the lord of the lands between, why not be the god of the land replacing marika? we physically cant. or... can we? well.. about death, the runes that govern death is keep safe in the hand of maliketh, it was removed by marika from the elden ring, so basically noone can trully die in there, unless well.. unless marika decided to order maliketh to kill someone, he is the only one who can trully kill anyone. but it was stolen from that furry beast, and those assassin use it to kill the blonde demigod. have fun deep dive into the lore, its very interesting, as most hints about the lore can be found from the descriptions of the spells, or armaments. or well.. from someone you meet along the way
@Unstable_constantКүн бұрын
Important thing to remember: basically all lore videos about Elden Ring are interpretations. I'm only ten minutes in and I'm not going to analyze the whole vaati's video, but several things said by him are already pretty dubious: 1) "the greater will is an outer god" - we don't know if greater will is an outer god, it's never called an outer god in the text. Maybe it's similar in nature to outer gods. The problem is we don't know what "outer god" even means, especially the "outer" part: perhaps it's a relative term - for example, outer gods are every god that isn't ruling the lands between, or simply every god considered heterodixical by the golden order 2) "the elden beast became the elden ring" - the description of elden stars says: "It is said that long ago, the Greater Will sent a golden star bearing a beast into the Lands Between, which would later become the Elden Ring". When you carefully read that sentence, it becomes obvious that there are 2 valid interpretations: a) the golden star became the elden ring; b) elden beast became the elden ring. The game is full of ambiguity like that by design These may seem like pedantic nitpicks, but my point is only that: both statements could be true just like both of them could be false. And it holds true for much bigger lore claims. Ultimately it is the player's choice to decide what's the truth
@rnf_mhКүн бұрын
although I agree with your word of caution in general it is contextually fairly reasonable to assume that the greater will is an outer god which I admit is difficult to argue to a 100% degree, but there is no argument that the elden beast is not meant to be the elden ring as the scar on its belly is very clearly meant to represent the place where Marika shattered the elden ring initially
@MoreLoreThenThereSeemsКүн бұрын
THIS, 100% this! Every video on the lore is just an interpretation, and none of it should be taken as gospel, INCLUDING vaati
@arditlika9388Күн бұрын
Here's the thing, the words are written in universe, so nothing can be taken at face value. It's written as mythic text by the golden order itself to lend credence to its rule, to make it eternal sounding, even though we know it is not eternal and there were other prevailing cultures before it. The DLC trailer makes it even more clear, the Golden Order was created by war and deception, and swept everything it could under the rug. The Erdtree in game is literally an illusion. It was burned before, it's sap is gone, it only serves as a symbol of divinity and worship.
