Can the 1700 pull a 2 plow? I'm looking at buying the same tractor.
@ProductiveRecreation
@ProductiveRecreation 2 күн бұрын
@@relevation0 I think this is a 14 inch or 16 inch single and it’s no problem. Two 12 inch bottom is probably fine. Kinda depends on how deep you want to plow and if you have ballast (loaded tires and wheel weights) and plan to use 4wd. I lose traction before power in almost all applications. Otherwise, the 4wd 1700 is very comparable to an 8N in terms of weight and power. Pretty much the same PTO power, and about 3hp less than an 8N at the drawbar. Check out TractorData or the Nebraska test results. I load the loader bucket with rocks that pop out as I plow, and the extra weight and 4wd eliminates any slippage once the bucket fills.

Not sure there is one. I make a lot of things up as I go, based on stuff from carpentry and shop class in high school where I did some timber framing. Building and carpentry is not my day job, though I did do some during summers in college. Flooring is pretty easy. Just stagger the joints in the planks. Decide on 2-3 sets of board lengths that join on different joists, and then use a different one for each course of planks.

No, if it is black rot the leaf infection does not produce spores that will reinfect the tree next year. So it’s a wait and see if this resolves it for next year.

Thanks for watching. Not a new saw chain, but not dull. It might look slow, but I don’t waste my time with dull chains. Apple is very dense wood, denser than oak. That was very noticeable to me cutting and moving it. If I cut a piece of soft maple or a softwood like pine, you would have seen a noticeable difference in cutting speed. Same if it was smaller diameter. This is a 50cc saw with 18” bar cutting a 24” diameter tree.

I am looking at getting a Jackson power steering kit for My FORD 1300 Tractor I want to know how satisfied you are with this item Have you had any pr0blems with this And how was the response time from Roland Jackson To get your unit Can you answer my questions ASAP THANK YOU
@ProductiveRecreation
@ProductiveRecreation 20 күн бұрын
The only issue with it has been the bracket to attach the steering cylinder to the tractor frame. The one with the kit wasn’t real heavy. I had to get it welded as bolting wasn’t sufficient. Then this last winter the steel failed around the attachment hole for the steering cylinder, so I had my neighbor weld in a chunk of 1/2 inch thick steel and we threaded it for the cylinder bolt. Granted, I use my 1700 HARD on rough ground in the woods. Otherwise, the steering system itself is flawless over 200+ machine hours, as long as you don’t try to do lots of other hydraulic functions at once. That’s based on the pump flow though and not the steering components. Roland Jackson was pretty responsive, and things came pretty quick all things considered. I even sent a couple things back for him to modify, as my 1700 is a bit of a unicorn and had a different attachment point for the dash (it was power assisted recirculating ball steering as opposed to full manual). I think Jackson has done kits for the 1300 so it should just “drop in.”

If you’re not going to install the spark plug using a torque wrench, I suggest NEVER placing your hand all the way at the end of the handle of the socket driver. One could easily exert too much torque that way and then be facing a major headache. Instead grip the driver very close to the point where the socket attaches and tighten using just the first two fingers and thumb. This has always worked well for me, I’ve never broken a spark plug or had one come loose.

I was just tightening one of the two drain plug bolts on my x390 and all of a sudden the bolt wouldn't tighten anymore, it just stayed the same tightness no matter how much further right I go.. did I just shred the threads? What are my options now? Thanks in advance
@AnonymousGameWarden
@AnonymousGameWarden Ай бұрын
So I pulled the plug out, and there were metal shavings all over the threads but after brushing them off, it seems like the bolt is fine.. I tried putting the other bolt in the same hole and it just spins.. doesn't tighten. Does this mean I shredded it and need to replace the pan to the transmission. Will leaving the transmission without oil cause problems while I try to source a new pan?
@ProductiveRecreation
@ProductiveRecreation Ай бұрын
It sounds like you stripped the threads - maybe from starting a little cross threaded. I’d want to get the machine up so I could set eyes on the hole to check. If it is stripped, I think the only option is re-tap the hole for a larger bolt… the big danger is introducing metal shavings into the transmission. You may want to have a shop look at it. It bugs me that they use aluminum for a lot of this stuff because it’s softer than steel and strips more easily. My rototiller has gone through a couple cylinder heads from stripping spark plug threads. All is going along fine and then it just shoots the plug out cuz the threads fail.

Great video! I have one of these babies that was gifted to me with a splitter and tiller attachment. Had the splitter on when I received it, works a treat, however I just recently put the tiller attachment on and the tines run without resistance, but as soon as they touch the dirt, nothing but grinding noises.. I dissected the PTO parts but was unsure what all was amiss.. Ah, the head must have snapped off the engagement bolt, there's nothing there to engage the dog ear... not sure how it was fine with the splitter attached and broken now, but it is. The snap ring was missing from mine so, you're certainly not the only fella to loose the snap ring into "open air", LOL. I'll try getting what's left of the broken engagement bolt out of the lever, if that proves too difficult, it's going to be "full time" PTO.. I'll add a bushing behind the dog ear. Cheers buddy!!

My grandfather bought the tiller sometime in the early 2000s. It is an Agric AL-55-C. The tilling width is 55 inches, and the overall width is about 58 inches. The Ford 1700 is an absolute beast of a “25hp” tractor that makes 23.26hp at the PTO according to the Nebraska tractor test. I think it would handle a 5ft wide tiller fine, which would cover the tracks better unless you have the rear wheels set in the narrowest position. I run a Woods BB60.30 rotary cutter on the 1700, and Woods rates that for minimum 25 pto hp. It handles it fine.

I've got a 1500; for the most part I'm happy with it. The big thing I'd like is to have the PTO not dependent on the ground drive clutch; step on the clutch and everything stops (it's not a 2-stage "live PTO" clutch either). You're not wrong about the price and availability of parts. I recently had to replace the brake shoes. $285 for a complete set of shoes, and that was the best price I could find! Serious ouch. But several years back, the voltage regulator failed and a local auto parts store found a solid state electronic replacement for less than half the price of an OEM or OEM-similar. And a year ago I had to replace the steering gearbox; found an aftermarket one that appeared to be cast in coarse sand on a beach in a developing nation for a somewhat reasonable price. It seems to be doing OK. If you're lucky, you'll find a part that is common to other brands, and it'll be cheaper than even aftermarket "same part number" parts.
@ProductiveRecreation

Ths is for watching! The transmission driven PTO hasn’t really been an issue for me. Yeah stuff stops when you clutch and shift, but I don’t do that with an implement under load anyway. The rotary cutter has so much momentum it keeps going anyway. As for steering, I converted to hydrostatic power. Costly, but made it a completely different machine - no looking back and no regrets. Electrical on mine is original except the flasher unit. That’s a NAPA generic that I zip tied in place. Good to know about the voltage regulator if I ever have that issue! Right now my big issue is the 3 point lift cylinder is leaking. Probably the piston seal is shot.
