From the other side of the coin, you might be interested in a book called: Opening the Hand of Thought by Kosho Uchiyama. He's a Japanese monk who studied Christian theology at university. Many people regard the book as a kind of Zen primer, but it's much more than that. Books are wonderful things but there's more to life than reading about life.

I have watched a few live streaming videos but the observers' comments move fast and they are all talking to each other and ignoring the live streamer at times. Live streams are very difficult to watch and the live streamer or live streamers have trouble reading the comments because they are moving fast - and some of the comments can be rude and offensive. I'm not a fan. Plus you have to have a really massive amount of subscribers. Your Nara Park video was excellent and I was amazed that you could walk such a far distance, It's certainly a very beautiful place and the deer were lovely, The male deer have antlers (like horns). I think it's a bit the same in the UK too. I had fairly good exam results from high school and quickly got a job as a junior secretary. But in four years I had 3 jobs (this is in the 80's by the way). I couldn't keep a job. Then I decided to have a child for all the wrong reasons and I was only 22 and very naive and immature. I never again got a fairly well paid job but some part time work like cleaning or working in a laundrette (which is a very physical job). I also did voluntary work but it never led to a paid job. Now, I cannot work at all as I cannot use public transport or drive. I cannot think of any work I could do at home as I don't have any special skills and I am not good with computers. I have had my disability benefit stopped in the past because I could not find a job. My CV (Curriculum Vitae) was mostly blank. I get very depressed about not having a job. There are a shortage of jobs in the UK - we don't manufacture much or produce much of anything - it's becoming a poor country with a huge gap between the very rich and the poor. And many young people with degrees cannot find good jobs. We have a new government now but I think they will be just as bad as the last one. I think that you will be able to make money with your writing (which is exceptional by the way). Good luck for the future - you deserve a good life.

It was very interesting. I consider myself as a Buddhist since I accepted the "four noble truths" of Buddhism at the end of 2021, but not sure if I should call this faith. Some say Buddhist faith is more like trust (saddhā in Pali) that people put on teachers they respect. Regardless of the theories in each religion, as long as we're biologically the same species, I personally think it's natural to experience a similar psychological state. My sister has a linguistics degree. I'm sure she would not agree with this English teacher. You must watch good Japanese youtube lessons on English pronounciation. Sometime you talk too fast and two words get joined together. Take your time and remember to breathe. Learning a language to fluency takes years. I'm English speaker, obviously but I talk in a type of slang - I have a South East London accent (or some people would call cockney). I am very nasally speaker and I have strained vocal cords (mainly from smoking). How long have you been learning English? Your vocabulary is very good. The accent takes years to acquire. Your accent is fixed at the age of about 7 years of age. Even if you came and lived in the US, UK or another English speaking country - you will, to some extent keep your accent. It's not a problem.

Interesting subject that I have never considered. Maybe the Japanese like pranks and simple humor because you have little chance of offending someone. Here in the US, humor can be somewhat brutal and people don't care too much if they are offensive. Also, humor in America is I believe more prized as a character attribute. I'm a freelance photographer (and I like when people make me laugh and I grew up in a family that prized humor) and making people laugh is a way to disarm people and to get the workday going smoothly. Of course if I am working with someone who seems serious, I adapt and keep humor at a low level. On a side note, for a few years I had a Japanese photo assistant (who was an excellent assistant and a great person) and I realize now that maybe his seriousness was more cultural than personal. My sister is disabled and couldn’t handle it. It was hard I’am polar depression. He would sometimes trigger me. But I love him. He almost 30 know lives w his girlfriend. When calls I can tell when he stops taking his meds. I talked w a therapist so I could better understand schizophrenia. We have understood if it was cancer or covid we understand. It’s an illness that’s in the mind. I have dealt w a lot hallucinations. It better to agree and understand they don’t know what there doing. You may there behavior is strange but for them it’s normal. Have compassion and accept people for who they are. Change mind set on what mental illness is. More help is needed. In California there is no help. They hospitalized Meds then back on the street. There mental ill homeless is so high is sad. I cried when I saw it. One voice can make a difference. USA still needs more work on helping mentally ill. They need support systems and someone help maybe w meds or therapy. So I hope that things will get better. Care about people. You don’t have be afraid. Just don’t argue with there hallucinations. It’s ok go along with it. Realizing they need medical help. Even in your darkest days you can get through it. It won’t last forever. Maybe by sharing your story gives others to share there and not feel so alone.
