You are 100% on the money about the dog running back to home team for help. It can happen with wasps, too. If they tree a bear cub, mama won't go far and the cub doesn't want to come down. The most common inconvenience is the dog rolling in something foul. A good thing to teach the dog is not to jump on people. That is easily done by kneeing the dog in the chest when it jumps up. A scratch from a dog is much more likely than a bite. Both can get complicated. Cool t-shirt, BTW!Thanks for the video.,

Whenever you make another poling video, could you demonstrate "crossing the chest" for those of us who are a bit slower on the pick up? Is it about the end of the pole being lined up where if it were to catch it would hit you in the chest or face?
@3_Minutes_With_a_Maine_GuideКүн бұрын
The pole is positioned just like it is in the thumbnail, just slightly forward and touching the bottom. See how it’s going diagonally across my chest, if that sticks on the bottom it hits me in the chest and send me ass over Tolly-Wolly to the back of the boat.

Throw some charcoal briquettes into the barrel for a few days at home to get odors out. But NOT the kind with lighter fluid embalmed in them!

Would a rope common whipping do the same job or would it slip too much?

Just discovered this channel. Love it. Good advice. On this subject I unfortunately had the “opportunity” to unload a pinned canoe once. This boat was pinned close to shore and had hundreds of gallons per second running through it. Lucky for my buddy we had four guys standing close by and we were able to unload just by handing gear to each person in a line. Still, a precarious and potentially very dangerous situation.

What are your thoughts on Grumman Canoes?
@3_Minutes_With_a_Maine_Guide17 күн бұрын
My first canoe trip was in a Grumman. The 16 & 17 foot pole great. They are noisy and cold and stick on rocks rather than slide off and if one wraps in a rapid, it’s very hard to put back and paddle. But if rapid aren’t your thing. It’s a good canoe.

I have a very similar hat sold by the Boy Scouts. It's been awesome. Probably 15 years old. I keep thinking of getting a pair of Bean Boots. You mentioned they leak? That's worrisome.
@3_Minutes_With_a_Maine_Guide16 күн бұрын
They do leak at the seams, but for me still a great boot. I always change into dry boots when I get to camp so, for me, it’s easy to tolerate. Thanks for watching.

Lisa. One guide to another, great video. However, your bowline is tied “sideways”. It’s an easy and common mistake. Fortunately, it’s easy to remedy! Happy paddling.

Thanks for the tip! The old guy who taught me said I tied my knots like a left-hander. When I first started school I wrote with my left hand and they tied it to my leg until I taught myself to use the right. Thanks for watching.
