SNES port of doom had a custom engine made for it. that's why it transitioned so well. Doom 32X and the Atari Jaguar port entered production around the same time. The 32X version was actually rushed to meet the launch of the 32X. the 32X port has a very steady framerate as you can see. That is the Sega Mega Drives "blast processing". Though Blast Processing is a marketing term for the mega drive's refresh rate which was designed to allow 60hz with almost no slow down (in PAL region it is 50Hz) though. 32X doom as with most 3D rendered games halves the framerate. it's about 30HZ instead. Jaguar port can play music but only if you have two jaguars linked via Jag link. Saturn version suffered from John Carmack being an asshole and making the developer recode the game multiple times because he wanted it to be like the Jaguar version or whatever. basically, he was just being his egotistical self. HE did finally apologize for ruining the saturn version. Also, the special spectres are still in the Saturn version, but they look the same as normal ones. The green blood in the GBA port had nothing to do with Nintendo. It was actually so they could get the game a T for Teen/ PEGI - 12+ rating. The Xbox 360 version even ports over all the original game bugs, even crashes! And yes, the health kit changes are indeed because of copyright. Red Cross is a copyrighted symbol of the Red Cross. This isn't the first time the cross has been censored either. in the 360/PS3 port of Doom 2, they are replaced with red and white pill pictures. (this also affects the Doom 3 BFG Edition versions) Also, the 360 version of Doom 2 also includes a new episode: "No Rest for the Living"

Doom on Saturn could've been good 🤔 Developer made a version with their own engine that ran alot better but carmack didn't want them to use it because it introduced texture warping
@beltbucklebill3333 күн бұрын
That Bee Game Theme is a banger!
@starlimitz23 күн бұрын
The Sega Saturn version suffered because John Carmack did not allow the developer to use the 3D materials for the game, opting to avoid texture wobble rather than have a smooth game. I am astounded at how many people know the terrible development for the worst port of the game, but so many do not even LOOK up the Saturn port's problematic development. AVGN did the same exact thing.

Insane how great that game feels, how perfect the art direction is, and how many memorable setpieces it manages to weave together that feels like an epic adventure. SNES Doom impressed me, because while it is using a helper chip, its still Doom...on a 16-bit console, and it was basically coded by a single guy, who made his own game engine to run it.

The first intro song I've heard was for Cannon Fodder on 3DO. And then it was Captain Quazar. I believe Hercules on PS1 had intro song from the Disney movie "From Zero to Hero". Tail Concerto on PS1 has intro song (at least Japanese version). Parrapa the Rapper has a funny song (a soundtrack to a fictional movie) on the intro. Vigilante 8 has some kind of a theme song. Ridge Racer Type 4 of course. The Book of Watermarks - a strange Japanese adventure game from Sony themselves has a humming intro with the voice of Maire Brennan. Tenchu 2 is the only one in the series I've played. And it has a nice intro song. Tenchu 1 also has intro song. Usually obscure JRPGs from PS1 & PS2 have some intro songs to them. Also, LocoRoco. Some games rather have outro songs, like Castlevania Symphony of the Night, MGS, Silent Hill, Alundra 1 & 2, Breath of Fire 3 & 4, Legend of Mana, Final Fantasy series, Parasite Eve, Chrono Cross, Gex, Killing Time.
