Interested in seeing it tried, but translating Total War to space (whether it be Star Wars or the oft-wondered 40k) seems like a huge leap to me. How do you Total War in space without it feeling like Stellaris or MOO? It'll be interesting to find out, if it happens

Idk if they're going to figure out pure gunplay total war, that feels like a bit of a stretch. I feel like if they're going the big franchise route, they're probably more likely to go a fantasy route. My friends have been guessing lotr or got.

I'd probably put it in the old republic era. Vibro blades for melee units, we have a sith army and republic army. Potentially lots of Jedi and sith depending on what you set it

4:50 "total war has no competittion" I never understood that. there are millions of civilization clones on the market but not a single developer tried to copy the total war formula even though the total war series is doing blunder after blunder since decades. yeah total warhammer is awesome but the hardcore fans also hate it because it does not have the same mechanics as the old titles. There is a small indie team of two people who made two series of D&D inspired games with turn based empire building and autobattle rts combat that is kind of total war-ish. Its dominions and conquest of elysium. but it´s 2d pixel sprites with litterally 2 frames of animation. I love those games and i do not understand why no one else tries to copy that formula.

I think 40k is more predictable than SW. But if they do it I hope they'll do a smaller squad size than TW Warhammer. Maybe also a cover system and a lot of terrain? Space battles would be cool in a TW system. Empire at War did this pretty okey

I think they should stick with Warhammer and do a 40k version. Not that much into Star Wars. But I understand the appeal for those who are… But nothing compares to smashing elves with….. well anything ;-)

Id cant see Star Wars working that well as a Total War, outside of maby the clone wars or the old republic - but Disney isnt really big on that and they are moslty focussing on kids and teens... Total War 40k would just make so mutch more sense, especially as the damons are already there. Well see i guess

Really cant see a point to this.. Melee is not a thing really, so it is only moving ranged troops around = map will have to be mirrors or it is simply a who get's the better map side. Only 2 factions really, not a lot to work with, sure you could add small rebel factions, but really, they all gonna be close to the same. And if all they can do as a draw is putting in established characters.. Then there is literally nothing to the game. This is going to pass like a fart in a storm..

I was just playing "another Crabs treasure" and when you said: "We shall see." I was like " We Shell sea!" Thats the humor from this game :D Hope next total war will be 40k. But I can totaly understand when they go for Starwars because of the people who are so big starwars fans they join the community and maybe also try the other TW games. The 40k ppl are most likly also enjoy TWW Fantasy.

As an OG Star Wars fan. I am super not interested and think all Disney SW "content" should be erased and pissed on for twelve days straight.

The thing is if they can get out of the melee combat then they also open up their opportunity for many more so i hope they try something new. Doesn't really matter if it turns out good coz I think they should try.

The locked groups are useful to get your whole front to engage in a charge instantly and evenly. If you select your infantry into a locked group and attack while the enemy is coming it will auto engage evenly across the front for all of them

Why settle for hamburger when you could have prime rib? Seriously 40k is a much more detailed universe, and more easily accessible

Avoid Karl Franz like the plauge and play Tyrion or Grombrindal instead. I think the Dwarves do have some good things to teach new players. Specifically using line of sight ranged units like Thunderers or especially ones with low range like Irondrakes. Learning to use those types of units well helps a lot with other factions as well. Plenty of factions have similar units that you can't just put behind your front line on fire at will and forget about them. With the High Elves sure they have a balanced army but just using Archers and later Sisters of Averlorn behind a line of spearmen will auto win almost every fight.

So the rumors were saying TW Warhammer 40k and TW WW1, but now it's suddely TW Star Wars instead? EDIT: Ok, so apparantly it's all of them. WW1 has apparantly been delayed due to it requireing a new engine, which proved to be too expensive to make or something, so apparantly it's Warhammer 40k first then Star Wars sometimes later. The major source of this "leak" had factually wrong information in the post, though, like WH1 and WH2 + DLC selling poorly (CA themselves stated that they sold very well and was what kept them in the green), and WH3 originally being scheduled for release in 2018 (*might* have been originally, but definately not this version with KIslev and Cathay). It also missed some other rumored titles that has been talked about seriously like Medieval 3 or Empire 2 (maybe cancelled, who knows?), but I wouldn't trust this information too much until it's backed up by some other sources, but who knows. With the amount of "leaks" and rumors currently going on, I would just wait and see, as everything seems a bit uncertain at this point.

One has to understand that.. to Companies like CA, it doesn't matter. "Oh it doesn't work with the current gameplay formula." Then they will make it work. They don't care, they'll rework it and redesign it to make such endeavor work, you don't say that it won't work to the programmers _that make it._ Why? Because they don't care, only what the money leads. WH3 is going to its end cycle and CA is desperate for a new cash cow, either they are going for Star Wars or 40k, and they are going for Star Wars. To put it simply, Star Wars is bigger than 40k in terms of mainstream presence, far bigger than 40k. Everyone know about Star Wars than does 40k. You can simply show the images of a space marine and a Stormtrooper to a normie and said normie will say that they are the same or even confuse the Space Marine for a weird, big and ornate Darth Vader. And CA is looking for it. They want _that_ audience to nickle and dime it for all it's worth, another cash cow if you will. They don't care about keeping the "Formula" as it is. As game developers, they are legally obligated to be experimental with it and pitch ideas for new games with those experimentation and tweaks. If there are three projects with one of them being Star Wars, with potentially 40k and WW1 alongside it. It means that either high ups of in CA are happy on what they saw or are desperate enough to green-light such projects.

Speed and melee buffs/debuffs aren't useless imo. You need the speed to catch enemies in order to melee attack. It's a 30s buff that costs 4 winds for dance. I get that you usually want to save winds for healing but if I can use this to position some of my faster units to maximize their damage, then yeah its a good use of magic.

I got one of these against the skaven. It was one dwarf generic lord, 2 dwarf warriors and 3 rifle units against like 1 and a half Skaven stacks with tons of heroes "Heroic Victory" "Hmmm. Yep, I'll just go ahead and auto resolve that" *click*

I mean it´s not that different to Warhammer 40k total war, is it ? You propably could take a load of gameplay mechanics and transfer them into Star Wars.

I feel like there would be many design problems with adapting for 40K or Star Wars, so if they have to reinvent the wheel I'd prefer 40K. That being said, there have been so many failures over the years for both of those IPs I don't think success is guaranteed either way.
