my issue with a lot of kpop performances is the choreo actually detracts from the ability for the idol to show their full talents. if they always dancing how the heck they going to sing every song have choreo for tiktok and so on. at what part are these younger idols required to sing if they can slap a prerecorded backing trakc and have a pretty person sit on camera for 2-3 mins lipsynching?

every group have main idol who become the main member who gain most fans its textbook blueprints and instead of having each member be invidual they look for identical individuals who resemble former idols and make them act similar to that on camera, they have to have a national bf or gf image to their fans cause hardly any of the clips i have seen seem normal its all to put a false hope that their fans can date these idols but the companies then use that one or two popular member and make them have certain image like why they doing with ateez san for exmple since he buffed up so much hes become basically sex symbol in ateez, yet with yeosang they didnt want him to buff up so they try to stop him from going to the gym so he could keep his prince innocent image. thats honestly so damaging to both their fans and the idols. personally id rather like a group for their songs not because they have one or two popular members that are oversexualised or overly hyped up for their faces and bodies. theyre basically objects instead of person, they tell fans on their vlive stop following them, stop calling and stalking them but it dont do nothing and i wouldnt be surprised if other buff idols like changbin who also get oversexualised if fake influencers tried to hook up with them or meet them at hotels and so on. its crazy and i bet they got some stories that they cannot tell either.

I‘m fr always shocked when I see any song hitting the 4 minutes. Like the only album which was released this year I can think of where every track is at least 3 min long is Door by Chen. Are there any other you can think of? btw the shortest track in door is I think 3 min 8 sec long but all others around 3 min 30 secs or longer. Idk I just hate the short track trend.

(no hate intended and this is my personal opinion!!) im honestly getting bored of groups like new jeans illit etc. cuz all their songs have the same constant concept and its just getting way too repetitive like ok sure songs like attention, ditto etc are extremely popular when they were released and i admit i did like them too but that was only cuz they were the “start” of the concept and it felt “new” but if they just keep on sticking to this their popularity is just gonna decline eventually

On the vein of Kpopsapphic not posting Haneul 1) they HAVE posted idols younger than her, so it's not about her being 19, or it is it would be very disingenuous if that was the case, and 2) ... that is not a sexualization page, the admin makes sure of it, it's a page of women that other women find beautiful, or women that show their support for the lgbt community. Implying that you need to be 20+ to be considered for that is just... weird

I totally get the skz one, their recent two TT’s haven’t been my favorite but I still enjoy them. I think they’d bennifit a lot from doing one major cb a year. I feel doing non cb albums like the skz record, where it’s a collection of songs written over time will help them relax & not stress about public perception. As a songwriter myself, i understand wanting to show people our work & constantly create. But there’s times where we must take a break because pumping out songs is mentally draining at times, especially when you look at all the work they put in. I think they’re trying to keep up cause of the industry & how much cbs they pump out for other groups.

i relate so much to the intro. i'm turning 21 this year and starting my 3rd year of uni in sept, i work alongside uni at a restaurant and because of how much time this takes ive really not been keeping up with kpop as much as i have in previous years since i became a stan in 2019. i still listen to my favourite groups but i listen to a lot less variety of kpop groups and have got way more into other music genres and artists. i love kpop still but its just so hard to keep up with all the constant new releases and content. i think for now im happy listening to my ults and not rly watching any content. adult life is hard man

My opinion. As someone who grew up listening to kpop since a tween (im an adult now) i kind of understand why people say kpop is for kids (minors, teenagers included). Most of the groups that these companies create are marketed towards that age group. I could say in the past it was quite versatile but now its definitely narrowed towards that audience.

i get the sentiment regarding wanting kep1ee girls getting fresh starts and it’s not me doubting them if anything i share the opinion of op somewhat because i too would be excited for them to get fresh starts like i can see them succeed personally but unfortunately with so many people doubting their post kep1er success i can’t help but be a bit scared for them, i really hope they can all prove us wrong one day. i totally agree with opinion 2, i won’t get too much into it but i personally just don’t enjoy drunkenness at all so that’s just me. also agree with opinion 3, okay they’re 19+, they’re adults that’s good but they’re not suddenly grown women they’re just barely adults and we can’t impose a sexy image on anyone no matter how old they are, perfect opportunity to promote kara who’s making a comeback soon stan my 2nd gen queens. 4 is so real. 5 i somewhat agree like i don’t necessarily care about every little “scandal” that aren’t actually scandals but like there are more serious ones that just make me uncomfortable supporting that artist i might not even enjoy their art. i really do love me some more britney spears influence on kpop. 7 awareness is the first step of solving an issue, maybe we’ll be able to overcome our biases and prejudice if we really just be honest with ourselves first.

I feel like a loud MINORITY of Kiss of Life fans are becoming the 5th gen version of the minority of mamamoo stans who made their whole personality the fact that they stan groups with grown women even though none of the members fit that narrative. For me, groups with grown women are those in their late twenties and onwards. In my opinion, kpop fans aren't ready to accept the idea of actual grown women debuting due to ageism and kpop distorting our perception of what age idols should achieve certain milestones in their career. I also think that this mindset could be attributed to the fact that so many people are having successful careers early into their life nowadays due to social media making it easier to succeed.

100% plus not to forget that the younger they are the more controllable they are they can give them whatever short shitty songs and theyll roll with whatever image all bc they want to be in the spotlight. they dont want to debut older idols bc theyre more likely to say things like it is. kpop is such a limiting barbaric and broken system. some day i just hope this whole world ends bc shits been getting crazier and crazier and like idols eventually come to some harm be it physical or mental

weeekly is one of those groups whose careers were fumbled at a catastrophic level. like they could have recovered from holiday party being... extremely mid but instead of going for something thats still kinda youthful but not quite as immature (think like the concept of shhh by kiof. still relatively youthful but instead of being like highschoolers it's more college student.) like i give them a little slack cause they had a member on and off hiatus (leading to them leaving the group right before/after venpara's release) but the severe concept change turned a lot of people off including original fans. instead of trying to bounce back from an even worse flop their company doesn't have them release anything for. A YEAR AND A HALF. A GROUP JUST UNDER 2 YEARS OLD AT THE POINT ON HIATUS FOR A YEAR AND A HALF and iirc they had like. minimal appearances. like they weren't going to festivals or anything. just like 1 or 2 osts. The only other group thats been fumbled this badly is everglow (but i can't keep ranting)

ONCE the TWICE title track ranking popped up, I couldn't help but impetuously shout "YES!" at the screen as soon as I spotted SCIENTIST at #2 while almost everyone else seemed to hate on this ingenious, energetic and passionate gem for no reason at debut, yet for me it was the last straw of hope for them going into the right (or at the very least promising) direction. However, that momentary spark of delight soon dwindled when I noticed the virtual opposite following right after at #3 - and the incongruity didn't end there :o TT at #8 ?! Okay ... a majority would agree it's one of the most iconic if not arguably the most iconic TWICE song/video, and one of the most pivotal in all of 3rd gen history ... but okay. Clearly, "I don't like" marks this an opinion piece. Still ranking above WIL felt somewhat comforting after all, in light of the latter having snatched the most-viewed position from the former a while ago on the day that might be the saddest ever in terms of M/V statistics :| But then I kept looking and looking down the list in aggregating disbelief, only to find the single most progressive TWICE track, hence what I'd call the ultimate pinnacle throughout their entire discography (and therefore also my personal fav tied with TT) finally at ... #18!? Like what the heck?? O_o Adding insult to the injury, it's not only trailing what was rightfully called just an "okay" song here at #16 but also my personal worst in between both ;-; At that point I didn't even try to understand anymore how Sana's heart-melting "knock knock" wink wink could end up at the penultimate position on anyone's list, let alone how something so innocent and unquestionably joyful/wholesome like TBTIED at the very last. Honestly not one of my highlights either, but putting it literally at the bottom - behind some objectively bad stuff just as attested in this very same video - simply doesn't even make any sense in said context and, thus, looks outright bananas %*7 Now there's other candidates like SIGNAL, undeniably what has always been and will always be their number one controversial song (for me it would prly rank more in the middle or slightly above ig) and then there's also FANCY at the top, certainly hands-down one of their best and without a doubt one of the best in the whole genre as well - but THE best, above everything else? Possibly as debatable as questionable, so no point in even starting to get into it ~ All of that being said, and all of the subjectivity of the matter aside, this might be the quirkiest ranking - equally conflicting as thereby interesting - of TWICE title tracks that I have ever encountered, while I would claim my own - also a healthy mix of mainstream stance and some strong but well-founded outliers for good measure - to be somewhat more coherent on a closer look and maybe overall slightly less opinionated as well :] Nonetheless, it was highly compelling and intensely refreshing to eventually see something this reality-conscious and genuinely observant especially about TWICE's post-renewal era (which, btw, I fully agree and repeatedly stated elsewhere myself is easily outdone by Nayeon's ABCD), standing out in an ocean of blindly obedient "we love all and everything no matter what" delulu followers ... so definitely a huge thanks for that alone! <3

Personally I stopped stanning skz due to the fandom. I can't tell when it started but stays slowly became more and more toxic everyday. Everytime I go on tiktok there is something new that stays have done. I think it got out of hand recently when a girl put blood on a poster of skz. I think since then I started distancing myself more and more from the group. I still love the members and their music but I just can't like the fandom as much as I used to.

Okay so here is mine... EXO raised my standards for k-pop way, WAY high to the point I don't think anyone will be able to top them at all. First off not only do all the members look pretty damn awesome, but their discography is simply unmatched in K-pop for me. It doesn't even come close how great their songs are and how are they able to pull them off like no one else does. The album designs are simple yet creative in how they incorporate the group's logo into various objects or symbols. They are incredibly fun to watch on the stage and can pull off any look- be it from military uniforms all the way to onesies. Oh and let's not forget about the vocals... Baekhyun, Chen and D.O. are without a doubt the best main vocal trio ever in K-pop. And oh god their lore is very fun to play around, make fanfictions and so on. It feels like they almost are real-life superheroes. This is a vibe I never have gotten from any group. EXO is simply perfect in every way in my opinion.

I know the "brains only fully mature at 25" thing gets repeated a lot everywhere, unfortunately it's not correct and just a science myth. The study that it goes back to looked at whether people's brains can change and found that they did in all of their participants - the oldest of which happened to be 25. So somehow 'brains still change at least up to age 25' became 'brains aren't fully developed until age 25' and finally turned into 'people don't mature until 25'. Since then there have been more studies with older participants, who also still showed placidity in their brain - so if anything, our brains never "fully mature" (whatever that even means) ;)

6:38 "brains finish developing around age 25" is a factoid actually! Mental maturity is difficult to determine. Researchers have tried to do so by seeing when changes in the prefrontal cortex plateau, but it appears that brains continue to change throughout the entire lifespan so that's not quite it. So when does someone become a mature adult? Who knows! Everyone's brains develop differently! Some 8-year-olds have shown more mental maturity in studies than some 25-year-olds, and that doesn't mean that those 8-year-olds are miraculously adults. Most of the information here was pulled from the news article from Slate titled The Myth of the 25-Year-Old Brain.

When it comes to Yeseo and Mashiro I'm not really worried, mostly because 143 has enough resources and connections to use Yeseo and Mashiro's existing popularity to propel Limelight further. And while Limelight aren't the main artists under 143 at the moment, they're about to become, because iKon are in their enlistment phase - so the company needs another money maker. I'm expecting much bigger promotions for their next comeback than what they got so far, debuting the group while Kep1er was active was the company trying to mitigate the popularity gap between Yeshiro and the other members (it's the popularity gap that killed the post-IOI groups that weren't Pristin).
