60000 mile change psr fhe maintenance schedule. Per instructions elsewhere, I fully warmed up the sngine to, supposedly, make the coil packs easier to remove.. I have strong hands. An hour later I still can't get any of the coil packs out. #1 was already separated, probably courtesy of my mechanic who wss supposed to do a compression check about 6 months ago..Never said a word to me about a broken coil pack

That is very frustrating, sorry to hear. Have you tried leveraging off of something on the top? Obviously avoid any of the sensitive bits. But they might break as well..
@PanamaSticks
@PanamaSticks 19 күн бұрын
@@GibbysGarage15I tried getting leverage. No good leverage points. I used a lot of force, trying to pull on the boots and coils at the same time.. Stretched the boots almost 3/4", but they didn't let go of the plugs. However the coils and boots have not pulled apart. At this point, I'm ready to put everything back together and let a mechanic deal with it. But wondering if all that pulling broke a wire connection to the plugs. Or is the connection just a pin that is sandwiched between the coil pack and head of the plug?

Thanks for the video. I never thought brake pads could cause such clanking noises. I have a weird problem, although it's similar, I'm not sure if it's the axle shaft or the brakes. Could you help? I know that my axle shafts are going bad as they created a clicking/clanking noise when I turned the wheel at slow speeds. But that's an old story. A couple of weeks ago, I had both my front and back rotors resurfaced and the brake pads changed. My brother took the car to a hill station on his vacation after that. Now, when I turn the wheel, I can hear the clicking noise, but in addition to that known problem, I can hear the clicking noise when I brake, start the car from idle, or go over a bump. What could be the reason? Did the axle shaft really go bad after his hill drive, which usually involves a lot of turns, or is it the new brake pads? Like you mentioned, it's so hard to find mechanics who are true to their heart and have the patience and knowledge to look into the issues. Thank you.
@GibbysGarage15
@GibbysGarage15 Ай бұрын
Only way to approach this would be a process of elimination. I would take the wheel off and check for play in the brake pad like in the video. Sometimes when they clean things up really good, and use a new brake pad, it could create a gap between the pad and bracket. If that looks good, and there's no excessive play in the pad, I would go ahead and fix the axles since that needs to be done anyway. The usual approach, when trouble diagnosing, is to start where it's free/cheap first, and move up from there. I feel your pain, cars can be tricky to diagnose even for the seasoned technician. Good luck, I'd love to hear back!

Hi there, thanks for sharing this video. I recently had new front discs and pads and this knocking / clunking noise has been driving me insane. Only really noticeable when I’m braking and slowing down to a stop but it’s this exact noise. I thought maybe it could be braking hard on new brakes but I haven’t been doing this. If this is the issue, does it require new pads again or is there a work around so that it’s not a waste of new pads? Is this happening because the wrong pads have been put on by the garage? Thanks
