I am not doing that. I am using the same nutrient that you have. I just mix the nutrient ti a big bucket and that ' s it.

If i was tiling a bathroom, would crack isolation be good enough instead of a uncoupling membrane?
@Flow-da-boyАй бұрын
when keying in the mortar with the flat side of the trowel how thick is the layer thats being applied? ive seen another video where you installed tile on a concrete floor without using the uncoupling membrane but reading the comments you say is best to always use the membrane Whats the reason for not using it on a concrete floor? i am a new subscriber and handyman i appreciate your thoroughness in each of your videos. you are a natural teacher

Hi How did you plant the tomatoes in those buckets? In net pots? Thank you..
@idealdirecthomeimprovement1639Ай бұрын
I started the plants from seeds in jiffy pellets and then when the roots started to come through the bottom of the jiffy pellet I put them in 3” net pot and in their permanent home. I have a video in my hydroponics play list on a transplant that can show you how. Thanks for watching! Happy growing!

Great idea with the template !! Isn't the orange top good enough to keep light out? Can I have link to your steel shelves? Thank you !!!. Are those black bins food grade?
@idealdirecthomeimprovement1639Ай бұрын
I bought the steel shelves from Costco. The black bins are safe to use. A little light comes through the lids but nothing to worry about.

It is not really hydroponics if you use soil.. But cool anyway..
@idealdirecthomeimprovement1639Ай бұрын
My friend, it certainly is hydroponics, I used soil just as a loose medium to not complicate things for anyone and suggesting to use coco coir. The soil had no nutritional value for the radishes. The masterblend solution is what has all that the plant needed. Thanks for watching.

I did move to tomato cages and they are solid on the lid. I love them. But indeterminate tomatoes would still need to be supported like you are doing. I don't have the room for tall plants. Filling is easy because i raise the lid and the whole plant and cage raises with it. I do raise determinate tomatoes. I'm so glad you put up a new video, it's nice to see you again.

Very impressive! You are well organized , doing it in a simple but productive way. I tried hydroponic gardening in my garage 7 years ago. I had problems with the high humidity level. How do you manage it and keep it under control? I was afraid to get mold on my dry wall so I stopped everything. As you have mentioned in one of your video, it is not easy to garden outside in Canada with our short summer. I have problems with squirrels, birds, rabbits, groundhogs, slugs and insects. I am very tempted to give hydroponic growing another try. I also have a small greenhouse wich is great for growing peppers and tomatoes but the last two summers were very cloudy and the harvests were disappointing. That could be very rewarding to do both.

Did this when I finished my basement, tap conned the subfloor down and did all the wall framing between the subfloor and joists so underneath the whole subfloor was open. Worked perfectly as I accidentally flooded the basement a couple days later when I left the electricity off down there overnight and it rained. With the breakers off, the sump pump was too. None of the water contacted the plywood and it just took me a few hours to dry underneath with a fan and sweeping the water to the sump pump (after I hooked it back up).

What are your thoughts about not using a detra type barrier underlayment? I noticed you did not use it in this job . Is this a basement floor ?
@idealdirecthomeimprovement16394 ай бұрын
That’s a great question, i didn’t use any uncoupling membrane on this job because the owner didn’t want it for a couple reasons. This was done in a commercial unit not a basement. I would definitely use an uncoupling membrane. I have used many different types and manufacturers. I recommend the Mapei one, but name brands are not necessary. They all do the same job. I would definitely use one and I have a separate video on the mapei uncoupling membrane. I break up videos to make it easier for people to have easy reference to them. Check out our playlists and you will find them. Thanks for watching! 😁

Hi, can you drywall over them? I want to know if you can attach drywall panels to the MDF. I have a pole beside a wall and wanted to make it connected like a corner. Let me know, it would help to know if its sturdy enough.
@idealdirecthomeimprovement16395 ай бұрын
Why not just frame it in and drywall it? Or use osb plywood to make a box like I did instead of using mdf. I think it would be a waste to use mdf and drywall over it. Make a plywood box, install it with foam and drywall over it. If you install the post cover the way I show, it is super solid, you would be amazed. Hope that helps !

In the start of your video you had house wrap outside of the studs. Do you have a video on that? I’m doing a 100 year old basement and need to get the damp smell out. I’ll use this flooring method. Never had any water in the basement.. but humidity does make its way through the wall. It’s currently finished (sometime in the 60s) and has that old basement smell
@idealdirecthomeimprovement16395 ай бұрын
@@danhoy8356 I don’t have a video on the house wrap,but it’s very simple,just hang it from the top. You can tape the seams but it’s not 100% necessary. If I was you, I would certainly get a dehumidifier running 24/7 for as long as you can. Depending on the scope of your finishing, the more you can demo and dispose of the old build the better. The smell is coming from the old stuff. I hope this helps
