One of the strangest screw-ups in WWE history was in the mid-80s when Andy Warhol, who was a huge wrestling fan, was backstage at a Madison Square Garden event and accidentally wandered into a room where they were filming live. Mean Gene Oakerlund realized that there was no way to ignore the fact that Andy Warhol was just standing there for no apparent reason, so they did a quick, impromptu interview. Mean Gene asked him what he thought about the event and Warhol simply replied, "I'm speechless. I just don't know what to say." I think Warhol should get a Hall of Fame induction for giving the WWE such a classic and bizarre moment like that. Plus, it'd be a nice middle finger to the snotty artistic types who look down on wrestling for being low-brow.

My favorite part of the Shockmaster’s debut was after he tripped, put the helmet back on and cut a promo (in the form of Ole Anderson speaking gravely somewhere off camera), everyone was done with it except Sid. He tried so hard to keep selling the moment while everyone else had mentally checked out.

The fact that Sid decided to save the segment and sell the whole thing is one instance where someone went into the business for themselves in spite of the fact that what they was doing was what they were suppose to do had the botch never happened. Sycho Sid indeed!

It had to be sabotage. They'd already wrecked things with the Black Scorpion, so Ole Anderson spooky nonsense was known to be bad for business. And a glittery stormtrooper helmet? Nobody is that innocent. Especially after they already got in trouble for copyright violations that were way more defensible in court. And they had Ted Turner money, so it's not like they couldn't do better if they wanted. They prostituted themselves for the Wizard of Oz and Robocop - this wasn't a small regional operation putting on a high school production. Plus, there's zero reason for there to be a trip hazard. When even Sid's worrying about your segment going wrong? Sid, the softball loving master of segments going hilariously wrong? Sid, the scissor wielding workplace safety mascot? Then you've planned it.

At TLC 2009 Christian and Shelton Benjamin had a ladder match. In a stunt falling through the ladder and breaking it in half, you could see where the ladder had a previous cut in it so it would break on impact. You could also see all the sawdust just pouring from the cut as well. It was also advertised as a steel ladder!!
@willhorting5317
@willhorting5317 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I laugh every time the commentator says "steel ladder" or "steel steps". Because neither are steel. Well, I guess the steps could be stainless steel. But if I was a betting man (I'm not), I would bet they are actually thick diamond-plate aluminum. As for the ladders, most are aluminum, with the ones that actually break possibly being gimmicked with wood or fiberglass. Just an opinion though.

Heh - I remember one that was... well, a bit of both - we were _supposed_ to see it, but... not quite how it went down. On the shows leading up to the Raw 1000,. they had Jake the Snake Roberts return. In the ring was The Shield, and while they were distracted by Jake's entrance, the New Age Outlaws and CM Punk got the jump on them and emptied the ring, save for Dean Ambrose. Jake then did the snake thing, turning loose his new pet snake on Dean. So... technically, all went to plan - but the thing we probably weren't supposed to see was Dean Ambrose trying so hard not to smile because he was thrilled to get to do that for a Legend like Jake. Fantastic. :)

Lmao I was literally just watching the Hawk/Vader awkward moment the other day... Recently restarted Raw and SmackDown from episode one on both, and all the pay per views. glad to see that one on the list!

This reminds me of watching Halloween Havoc 97. When the fan climbs the cage after the Hogan vs Piper match. It is VERY quick, but one of the fake Stings is actually Rey Mysterio who loses his mask in the scuffle. I looked everywhere to see if this could be confirmed, but couldn’t find anything. I just remember rewinding the video tape several times to see it. Anyone else catch this?

The reason it looked like stone cold wasn't supposed to be there, is because According to the storyline, he hadn't arrived at the arena yet. So when he was caught on camera, he tried to get out of there ASAP.

Ironic that the "original gangsta" as you so ignorantly claim isn't even the most veteran member of WhatCulture in this video, let alone enough to be an "OG of WC." (And don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore that bald A-hole. It completely brightens my whole day every time I get to see him. But your comment is just plain wrong.)

What about during a royal rumble (can’t remember what year) Andre the Giant had someone’s neck lined up on the bottom rope n from one angle looked like he was standing on the guys neck,n then it cut to a camera that was right next to them and his foot was clearly not touching the guy writhing around

Anyone remember a WCW segment that ended with a chase backstage and out by a tractor trailer? Only the camera caught the two individuals stop running/chasing when they got to the far end of the truck? It was right before a commercial break.

I was just going to post this. It was Wrath and Jericho on a Thunder episode. Chris also had to pull on a door to be blocked from escape, but it opened up, so he had to act like he couldn't open it up all the way.
