School buses with dt466 sound kick ass

The Voith retarder has this unique whine and, as you bring the vehicle to a stop, a whistling noise. I know, all the buses in my city use that brand of transmission.

@Jhordane1 Yes. It will spool up the turbo a smidge quicker, and the free flow will keep exhaust temps cooler. Dont expect but maybe a couple hp, and possibly a gain of .1 mpg. A lot depends on the current setup.

This one sounds like it's in the tractor pulls when it's really getting on it.

@nevrenufhp I have a stock 2000 DT466e(Dt466 electronic) never been rebuilt. And also a 1990 DT466 which also have never been rebuilt.

I actually had a project started to put a DT466, like this one, in a 99 Super Duty. Too bad I had to sell it before I could really get started on it

@michaelhpedersen This one is faster than most newer 300hp trucks. I had the timing set a wee bit too high, and another driver was on the go pedal too much when it was cold.....popped the headgasket.

DT466 sounds alot like 5.9 when straight piped. Probably because there a 6 cylinder
