It's an origins movie. Robotnik will end up being sent to Sonics home world so it could open up for a sequel. Robotnik scanned Sonic in the new trailer, this tells me that Metal Sonic will appear in a sequel.

Warp Tings were actually something that took you too another dimension, where you were supposed get the chaos emeralds is Sonic The Hedgehog (1992) EDIT: 1991, not 1992. My mistake.

4:33 in the first sonic game, when you collected 50 rings or more, and the end of the level was a huge ring that teleported you to a "special stage" that was meant for you to collect a chaos emerald. This has also appeared in other sonic games like sonic mania.

Isabelle The Doggo Thought I was the only one who knew that. Also the original trailer had Green Hill(s) Zone. Green Hills Zone is the Fourth Level of 8 Bit Sonic 2 and the stage music is the origin for Toot Toot Sonic Warrior in Sonic CD. Surprised he didn't mention that.

I don't think that's Super Sonic, I think it's just him overflowing with that power he has. Trust me, they wouldn't mess up Super Sonic THAT bad, I don't even think they'll introduce the Chaos Emeralds in this movie. Another thing that popped into my head is what if Sonic is running away or whatever from his world because the bad guy from his world is Eggman? I mean Robotnik in the comics died and was later "reincarnated" robotically and changed his name to Eggman so basically they are two different people.

Super sonic most likely will not be in the movie because in the first game there was chaos emeralds but only 6 and super sonic was introduced in sonic 2 and this movie takes place before sonic 1

Not only were the rings used as life support for Sonic, they also teleported Sonic to a bonus stage. These Warp rings appear in Sonic 1, 3, 4, Sonic Mania, and a crossover comic with Mega Man. They can be triggered by collecting 50 or more rings. The trick is to hang on to them 😃.

In Sonic on Genesis giant rings were used to transport Sonic to the bonus stages, so rings being portals isn't new.

I think sonic reading the flash comics is just so he can learn about this world he's now in, and he indentifys with the flash character and could also be learning some of flashes tricks he may use later on.

Nice trailer breakdown, Im liking the way they are using the Ring teleport powers, You can see some heart has gone into things. There's no way absolutely every person involved the first time around didn't try warning of the design issues. I'm sorry for those who were ignored internally and very happy for all of us fans who had a unified voice. The Sonic movie is now completely on my Radar and a can't wait to see it! The events that took place are just a testiment to how much fans love still love Sega and Sonic, this is the first real life adaptation that some fans no doubt talked about visualising in their own minds for many years since CG took off. I have always said this would happen from a long time ago and have faith in Sega's care towards us fans. Recently I've been playing Sonic on the Megadrive mini and loving it! Good stuff Sega!

In the comic books the ring portals are used to go to other worlds and other places

the rings in this movie are a nod to the special zone rings at the end of levels or the ones hidden in sonic 3 and knuckles and sonic mania....etc.

The rings were used to teleport in the games too. Case in point were the bonus stages

we should all see this movie because this is the first time the studio listened. also the puma logo is that orange tag by the tongue of the shoe.

Also in the first trailer there was a tease of mushroom hill and one if the old generals who were discussing robotnik MIGHT have been involved in the gerald robotnik debacle.
