As per usual, air is sucked in from the sides, vacuum cleaner is sucking from the top. Everything I predicted in the "Entheon RDA Revisited" video holds up, but it is nice to watch it happen in real time! To pick a line from "Bones"; science is awesome!

Thank you! I have not seen anyone else publish such findings, but I guess someone does it, and I have learned that at least one other developer is thinking about it. My highest hope is that there will be some properly developed RDAs soon:-)

Morten Oen Nah bettery mooch is the dude that tests different batteries and makes sure they aren't over rating their amp limits and checks for safety and stuff like that. I think you are the only one doing testing on airflow for rdas, which is also amazing! So great seeing more technical analysis of different aspects in vaping. Keep doing what you do, you are putting out amazing content! I hope you get an opportunity to design your own RDA some day, I bet it will be outstanding!

Nice demonstration. This way you can see how it really works. I'm lucky my setups come really close to the optimum settings you showed. I usually control the coil position by pointing a torch from the airflow inside and see from top where the coils are lit & doing the lighting also from top and look through the air flow. This way you can position it really good. It works most of the times, but there is also the factor of cotton. How it's fitted and how much. You must find a middle way between liquid flow and air flow behaviour. Because the cotton is irritating the air flow very much. But that are rules you have to find with every atomizer. Fine adjustment is the trick. A mm in any direction here and there... Anyways, have a merry christmas and a happy new year in cold Norway!

Great video. Have you thought of trying these tests with a computer particle simulator. You could make an outer chamber and drip tip and all your flow and particle attributes and parameters would be micro tweakable. It would be cool to see different coloured vape from either side and observe the mixing due to the vortexes. Keep up the great research I really enjoy your insights.

Thank you Wheel! I will look into a simulator, but I know nothing about them yet. Regarding two colors, that is exactly what I'm doing now. I have clear air comming in from the right, and vapor comming in from the left. But a computer rendering of the flow would be nice. Thank you.

I have spent the day looking at programs and simulators. None of them are useful to us regarding the details of flow and presure. But a lot of them can be used to study the angles of air holes. And I am glad and releived that all of them has shown that my calculations based upon observation has been spot on! Like the dotRDA, the Dead Rabbit, Pulse 22 & 24, and so on. I will include some of the graphics in my up-comming MadDog RDA air flow review.

Ha ha I was just looking at software too. Your findings sound exciting. I found Blender as the free option but I am not sure how well it simulates complex vortex interactions or pressures as you mentioned. Houdini is much more scientific and accurate in its approach but a beast to learn. It is used for all physics simulations in movie sfx where destruction, tornados, avalanches etc are needed. I bet there is some type of dedicated engineering software for the aeronautics and car industries. You can't beat the real thing though. Anyway, looking forward to your future experiments, regards wheel333.

Truly amazing, have you done a video for the 1.5 goon? I would like to see the best place for a coil.
@mortenoen434
@mortenoen434 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Khalil!Thank you for comment. The Goon is easy (both of them). Place your coil inside of the air hole so that the center of the hole is pointing at 3 o'clock (or 9 o'clock). Normaly there should be a space of 1/2-1mm between the edge of the well and the coil. Make sure there is at least 2mm space behind the coil and the center block. You can experiment by lifting the coil a 1/2mm from this ideal position, but no more.

Can you please try the airflow of the phobia rda? I wanted to know coz MCM has already made a prototype of the Mose One, which is a single coil rda, and has pretty much the same airflow of the phobia but being present only on one side.

Hi! It is on my list, but the Phobia is pre order still. Nobody sends me anything, so I will have to wait untill it's retail available. From the images I have done some testing, and it looks like it's flaved, but I cant say for sure untill I have one in my hands. From the images I have done some computer simulations and air flow chamber testing, and the air flow from the sides will most likely shoot upwards in a 70 degree angle. I do not know if it will miss the coils entirely, but it looks that way. They could have fixed this so easily...

Hello morten .. First of all i love ur experiments and they are very interesting bc im always trying to get the best flavor and vapes .. But as well as coils i am a big user of mesh wires and also it is becoming very big in the vaping community as well and i love it i have a digiflavor mesh pro rda and i love it w/ stainless steel mesh wire such a crisp flavor and your airflow is always lined up on point, it takes alot of cotton and to be wicked very tight and properly but amazing vape once you have it down, but i am wondering if you could possibly do an experiment on the rda with mesh wires or if that would even interest u at all? I feel like it is a little similar to flat wire concept.. And also wondering have you ever tried mesh wores yourself? Thanks.. Blessings to you and yours!

And cnt wait to see that mesh when u get to it although the ceto was actually a very bad device out of the mesh ones the two that are good are the vapefly mesh plus and the digaflavor mesh pro but either way id like to see your opinion on them and the airflow and what not love the stuff you do

@mortenoen434
@mortenoen434 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you Kwan! I am working on that, but all my conclusions have always exceptions to them. But once you realize that air moves in in a straight line untill a force (or an object) acts on it, you should be able to reach a conclusion only by looking at an RDA :-) But I have an idea on how to show all I know in an animated video...

Is the ''coil'' shape a contributor? What if the coil is square or triangular? The higher coil, at 16:50, specifically the gap between the wooden blocks and the coil, this reminds me of the ''slot'' between a Jib and a Main Sail from my yachting days. Getting the right slot between these two sails increases the low pressure on the fore side of the main sail increasing the ''pull' or ''lift'' on the main sail. So this slot in the video, is significant?
@mortenoen434
@mortenoen434 6 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for your insights. The coil needs to have a continous convex shape for the air to follow it around. In theese speeds a narrow slot will be a part of this effect I think.
@seantowlson7051
@seantowlson7051 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Morten. Looking at Streamlining, do you think air resistance or drag is desirable in a coil shape? A flat surface has 100% drag, high turbulence, a round surface has 50% drag, less turbulence, a shallow teardrop has 15% and some turbulence, while an elongated tear drop has 5% and no turbulence. This would suggest that an elongated tear drop coil would have the least drag (zero turbulence) but an increased total surface area compared to a round coil of the same diameter. As your studies have shown, the air flow travels straight, regardless of the location of the suction so ideally, the air intake port would be positioned to direct air to the rounded edge of the tear drop. This begs the question though, how does air velocity across the surfaces and the time duration on the surface affect flavour and vape density and which I think, would be a factor of the air port size and the size of the slot (between coil and posts).
@mortenoen434
@mortenoen434 6 жыл бұрын
Your theory is correct when speeds are high enough. At the speeds we vape at, a smouth, round (cylindrical) shape have very little drag, because the separation points are pushed way back (due to Coanda effect). We are talking about Reynolds numbers (Re) at 3.5 (if I understand the calculators right). And at these Re's, as long as the coil have a continous convex shape, there should be little to no drag. Anyways, in practical use, it looks like the effective cooling let you ramp up the Watts, so you get more vape. Some say that gives bad flavor, other says this kind of dry vape is what they prefere. But the better the cooling, the less droplets in the vape. I really don't like to get a mouthfull of e-juice, so I prefere a properly placed flatwire coil. Others like a framed, stapled clapton away from the air holes and close to the drip tip, only cooled by drifting turbulence. So the right shape, the right position, the right coil wire, is a matter of taste. I just want to show what is happening, so people can make an informed choise. Make sense?
@seantowlson7051
@seantowlson7051 6 жыл бұрын
Makes sense. There are variables in terms of the atomiser set up as well as an individual's tastes and preferences so in the end, there is no ''one size'' fits all. Having said that, your vids illustrate an optimal set up for the atomiser in order to leverage the benefits of the design or mitigate the flaws. As for individual taste, there is not much you can do for that :-)
