O no, change is a coming. We can't have that now, can we? :P Sorry, had to throw a jab at the haters. I do appreciate what you do man. Been with you since the hard wicking vids. I don't always prefer my coils in the optimal airflow path, but I always prefer to know where it is so I can make informed decisions when placing my coils. Some RDA's I do enjoy placing the coils directly in front of the airflow and some I do not. For instance the OG Goon I like the coils a little higher than the airflow, Goon 1.5 I like directly in front of the airflow. I find that most my RDA's benefits from having the coils directly in the airflow path but not all of them. Thanks again man.
@Faith_First0016 жыл бұрын
korgeth ok, so this is what I'm talking. I tried moving the coils in front of the air direction (in the OG Goon) and found flavor lacking. Move them up a bit and bam! Wonder why that is? Thanks for sharing that.
@korgeth6 жыл бұрын
Not sure man. But like I said above OG Goon works better with coils slightly above the air is best I have found. But on the Goon 1.5, it works very well with the coils directly in front of the air. The only Multi-air-hole RDA I have that I do like the coils directly in front of the airflow in the Bonza. All the others I have to raise them above the airflow slightly. I am talking about side airflow RDA's BTW. And all my Single hole on each side RDA's with either Cyclops or a Round hole are all directly in front of the airflow. Just something I have found with my particular RDA's and the way I like to vape. Hope that helps a little. But I still don't know why though. :P
@Faith_First0016 жыл бұрын
korgeth right! Yes I completely 👍 agree! Not sure why, but even my old av comp caps for the able mechanical mods are the same! The coils go directly in front of the airflow holes to get best flavor. I believe it must have something to do with the way there are multiple holes on the OG Goon (and atty similar) that direct the air in multiple directions. Maybe-just kinda thinking out loud lol. Anyway thanks for pointing that out. This will have me intrigued for the rest of my life until maybe Morten figures it out some day😀

Morten I just have to say that you are genius! I built this today with my own Clapton dual core 28 wrapped with 36 .50 ohm at the peak. Perfect build that never gets hot and produces great flavor along with lots of vapor at 5 watts. Thank you for your hard work at figuring out this RDA!

By some cosmic coincidence I found your channel couple weeks ago and it changed my life. I will be eternally grateful. After years of "soft" wicking and fluffing I tried your method of "hardest possible." During first try I and was skeptical and thinking I would be getting dry hits. After I had in my mind: "dry hit incoming, soon, just a puff or two away." And then the (RTA) tank was empty and I was really surprised. You, among hundreds of vapers, changed my vaping experience for the better. Now I'm subscribed and You are my favorite vaper among youtube vape community. Thank you, Sir!

This video gave new life to my loop. I was running dual coils low in the W deck and getting no flavor compared to my wasp nano and the loop was getting hot. Took out the dual 2x 26g wrapped in 36g clapton, unwrapped each lead a half a wrap on one and set it directly in the center and got the flavor I was looking for, plus now the loop is running cool. Major difference!

I did simple braided 3 string wire recently, and It's almost perfect coil build, heat capacity is low, ramp up is fast, it doesn't burn my cotton at all, but the flavour is splendid. Its also flat in shape but with openings that allow juice to go out and about. So I'd advise anyone to stop wrapping wire with wire... really. I'm vaping for 2 weeks on that coil and there was no cotton replacement needed. I beat my tightly wrapped flawire build in cotton durability and I'm vaping sweeter/denser juice than back then. if anyone's curious 3*26g Kanthal D @3mm 4 wraps gave me 0.2 ohms per coil.

Hi Oen, loved your testing regarding wicking and airflow! Greetings from Malaysia! funny, i've ordered the Loop, and i was actually wondering if it, considering physics, would be a good idea to fix the coil(s) a bit closer to the centre of the top of the triangle. this kinda confirms my suspicion, will definitely try this myself :)

Matthew Warren Yes he said that with the coils in the first setup, that they were much too hot, and spit alot. The coils close together was his recommendation for duals.

I'm curious about the VGod Elite RDA. The airflow comes from the bottom directly on to the coils and it's pretty much a straight shot to the domed top cap. Except of course the airs interaction with the coil. Seems like the optimal design if direct airflow is the goal

Oh have you seen the Aequitas? It’s much like a Dead Rabbit, but with longer air tubes at a shallower angle... and you can flip the barrel upside down to reverse the air (from above slanted down to from below slanted up). It’s an odd one. I only just got one, still testing. It’s made well, at least.
@mortenoen4346 жыл бұрын
I'll look into it.
@joearnold68816 жыл бұрын
Cool. I have one. I had my best success with the coils much lower than the silly pic in the manual. 3mm, almost as far down as you can get. To my mind, since they then block all but slots between them and the pentagon, that’s what helped. Still, it was only pretty good at best. Decent, no waste of money, but nothing special.
@btk1w16 жыл бұрын
Joe Arnold YES!!! I'm glad you pointed that out. I use 2.5mm dual coils lowered as close as I can get to the deck without shorting. They come in at 0.15 ohms and around 75 watts is the sweet spot for me. Get really really good flavor and even better on a mech.
@Faith_First0016 жыл бұрын
I think that, as Morten says, it's that indirect airflow that will benefit the claptons much more. I use claptons, and I thought to myself whilst watching this vid, that I'd place my claps right where you are talking about. I don't own one, but thought that's how I'd do it.

Why didn't you try placing the coils at the lowest points in the "W" shaped deck? I have done this with 2 x 2.5mm ID coils and get immense flavour without excessive heat. In fact the heat is warm and the barrel does not get hot at 75 watts 0.15 ohms. I don't believe you explored all the options and especially neglected to explore coiling the Loop this way. It forces the air right by the coils. Minimal turbulence and loads of flavour.
@mortenoen4346 жыл бұрын
You will get a lot of indirect air flow that way. My job is only to show where to get direct air flow, and where it isn't. Thank you so much for this input!

Let me start by saying I have the Loop RDA. The first picture of the coils you showed, you have the leeds WAY to long! If you chain vape a hot build the RDA will get rather hot. I run a 26/40 Fused Clapton, 3mm I.d.(.11-.13ohm) on a mech (Sanyo 20700A). Place the coil low set right in the centers of the low points of the W. On Instagram @badguycoils you can see pictures.

Very interesting because I have this rda and imo, its the worst rda I've ever purchased. Very very disappointing. Almost no flavor at all. I'm going to try both of your suggested builds and see how it goes. Thanks!
@btk1w16 жыл бұрын
David.For3v3R. I have the same RDA and I run it dual coil. It's the best flavor dual coil I have. What Morten didn't try is lowering the coils as close to the lowest points on the deck as possible. So close they can't be lowered much more without shorting. This forces the air past and around the coils and by the time it has hit the top of the cap it has a nice warm vape at 75 watts. I'm happy to take a photo for you if you want if I can post a link so you can see what I mean.
@PAL7026 жыл бұрын
Squig I also go massive flavor of this thing. I really didn't think I was getting much when I got the loop, but the deck made it interesting...now I run it with .15-.2 build on a mech and get very great flavor. Always dual coil..always, but now that Morten has came out with this single placement I will most definitely try it on my next time building. Morten brings an element of unknown to vaping that offends some but for me it is MUCH NEEDED:) Keep up the good work Morten...you wouldn't be the first person in history to end up developing something MAJOR the people used to tease or excoriate because your ideas where just too revolutionary. I will always support what you do here Morten...to me YOU ARE a science guy...you are lead by fact that sometimes change your mind like the Etheon review..that was huge. We stand with you because right, wrong , or indifferent you always reserve the right to change your mind as your experience proves otherwise. Good job Morten....keep up your good work!!!

I really enjoy this rda too. And place coils low as possible. 2×24g n80 38g outer 5wrap ohms .1 really warm build but it has lot of airflow to me and makes it seem cooler. I vape balanced by SVRF and it taste better in it than any other rda I have (dead rabbit, drop, pulse24, reviewer rdas you know).
@davidforev3r8656 жыл бұрын
All the airflow is one of the problems I have with this rda, or more specifically, all that extra room in the bottom of the chamber (more air to dilute the vapor) and the in-direct airflow. I have just about every rda (under $50) that was released in the last 3 years, and tbh, this was one of the biggest disappointments to me. I've found all the reviewers rdas to be underwhelming, except the Nudge 24 and the Phobia, but both of those have things about them I don't like, especially the Phobia. PhobiaBut, flavor-wise, both of them have great flavor. I've yet to find the "perfect" rda. I think what it comes down to, is everybody has a different style of vaping. And, for me, the Loop is far from a "flavor" rda. The 2nd build I ever put in it, I knew that the coils should be as low/close to the "pyramid" as possible-Not like the reviewers were placing them or like the manual suggested. It improved the flavor, but, far from a flavor rda. I guess everyone just has different tastes, different expectations from their rda experience. Like the Drop. Everybody raves about it, to me, its just a little better than average. To each their own, I guess👍

couldn't you just turn the two coils 90° and put them on top the stream would hit the middle of the coil.. if they are not broad!? enough .... you could use bigger diameter to get some coil surface back (yes you would have to run one of the legs all the way to the other side)

I think of what you do as science. It's not any different than fluid Dynamics. It's just with vapor and airflow
@mortenoen4345 жыл бұрын
If this was 200 years ago it would certainly have been science, but today you have to have 100% control on all the metrics and everey thinkable source of error. So by todays standards I'm just indicating probable effects:-)
@noxelohim5 жыл бұрын
I did notice one thing in your video I wondered about. You showed the airflow currents around the pentagon but (maybe I missed it) I didn't see you factor in how the airflow under the coils actually directs some of that at the coil I stead of just along the pentagon? I trust your experiments and demonstrations, But those do seem like they would channel the air from that bottom up to the coil no?
@mortenoen4345 жыл бұрын
@@noxelohim No :-) To intersect the airflow in any effective way, the coils need to be place so low that they touch the deck. I tried it, but it did not work. The only thing hitting the coils will be very faint puffs of turbulence. Single coil over the pentagon is the only way to get direct hit from effective flow of air.
