It's been really refreshing, between this and Fallen Order, to see such Star Wars positivity across the internet.

While the “whistling birds” were a touch convenient, I think the weight of that scene is the Mandalorian using these priceless tools in a situation where the child might have been harmed. He basically prioritized. Sure, maybe he could have gunslinged his way out, as he implied he was capable of in the first episode, but he didn’t want to take the chance.

The reason he used the whispers isn't because he couldn't take the troopers on without them, it's because he had the kid and he didn't want to risk it getting hit in the crossfire.

The Blacksmith did say she would make him RARE "whistling birds" instead of a signet. Then he proceeded to use them right away. I get Alex's point BUT I personally thought of it like a video game when your saving your "special" for the end but you get in such a bad fight your like fuckit and used it.

Honestly after this episode I need a Mandalorian video game.

The Mandalorian is exactly what we needed, it’s bringing much needed positivity to Star Wars, which feels great.

Whoever came up with baby yoda is a genius. Even my Mum watches the show and she doesn't even like science fiction. She is heavily invested in baby yoda & his well being.

I think only reason he left cloning dude alive was that he originally thought Mando was going to kill the baby, and yelled “no!” So Mando knew his concern for the child was true. Plus he was unarmed. No honor there.

A pitfall of survival and gaming is hoarding resources. Using the whistling birds was the best choice because if he died there, he would not have used it anywhere else.

The tracker unit is standard equipment, the very first scene Mandalorian was using it to track the blue guy.

I think "The Sin" is referring to his betrayal of the bounty hunter code and having a conscience to not leave the kid to it's fate.

When you see this cool shooting scene, and youre thinking "its awesome", then Mandalorians appear. And well it cant be better... But then fucking heavy Mandalorian barge in with his minigun, and Im like "Wooooooohooo, thats what Im Talking about!". I absolutely love it. I feel like a kid watching his beloved cartoon every week. The feeling I missed for so long.

Perhaps, just perhaps the person who saves him when he is a child from the battle droid is Master Yoda....which would explain his curiosity and affection for the child.

Also, regarding the complaint that everybody kept their trackers, I think they're generic "Hey, a new big bounty is available" notification. Just as if we all had the same Bounty Guild App on our phones and all got the notification at the same time. And this is backed up if you watch the first episode when he get the contract for Baby Yoda. He asks for the puck and Lando says, "No puck, face to face, direct commission." And then hands him a small white rectangular chit or something. He didn't hand him one of those hand-held devices with the antenna and flashy red lights.

Actually the Mandalorian flying and saluting at the end was a nod to Iron Man and Favreau.

Hey Joe the "ice cream maker" safe was based on one of the props the dudes used in the empire strikes back when lando ordered the evacuation of bespin, the extras were told to carry something and run around in the back ground. And one if them was carrying an ice cream maker. They based the safe on that moment.

How did the other Mandalorians know he was in trouble? The birds called them!

This show is everything I wanted from a Mandalorian story so far. I can't believe Disney let this happen. Thank you Jon Favreau, thank you Dave Filoni, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Couple things I'm curious about or bothered by... 1. He's willing to betray the guild / his contract so easily because it's a child? Then the entire guild assists him in betraying this contract? I find that hard to believe. Who would do business with them again, knowing they will betray a contract like that now? 2. "Baby Yoda". Has forcer powers / cannot even speak yet? Like... how? (Assuming he's a Yoda clone since Kamino doc was working on him, so there's that, but still.. you don't just HAVE force abilities. 3. That bounty hunter flying up to the space ship to salute him? Man, that felt cheesy as hell, like it was am episode of power rangers or some shit. Aren't those "jump jets" they use? Like Boba's and some of the storm troopers? Now, they full on fly? I guess it has been some time since Boba and what not, so that isn't too far fetched, but it was still cheesy as hell seeing him flying along like that.

I agree about the Whistling Birds part with Alex, but maybe, to show Mando doesn't know how to use them fully, only three stormtroopers could have gotten taken down and then he looks over and sees one still alive, so he shoots him quick. All four of them dying, my dad thought his new weapon was op a little. Nothing bad though cause it was a cool scene where he kind of needed it.

I do agree with Alex, it is a little harder to stomach the stand off scene using a new gadget right after getting it and being told to save it for it being hard to come by .. and it could have been cooler if he took the four stormtroopers without the rockets, and then maybe use them in the final battle (rise his hand up, fire them and they would cause a distraction) to get a bit more time to espace .. but then .. Mando would probably make it to the ship and espace (no need for other Mandalorians to show up) .. and he would still waste it right after getting it, just a bit later for a bigger effect .. However .. he could not just toss the baby down and risk it being shot in the crossfire .. it would be cool to see him flip around gunman style shooting all of them while few blasts would bounce of his new blaster proof armor thou .. but then it does the job done in the final firefight anyway .. One thing is for sure .. this episode had better writing and more epicness than anything Disney made related to StarWars to this point .. and that should make it 10 out of 10 for any starving hardcore StarWars fan .. And on the final note .. no hate for Alex .. he's a sharp critic a bit more than a happy fan like Joe and OJ .. which balances the review in the end :)

anyone else notice the bumpy grey pole that was leaning in one of the delivery zone's alleys? Its the one that luke and han used to try to stop the trash compactor from crushing them in Episode IV: A New Hope.

There is enough room in the universe for them to go off on their own story without ever interacting with the movie characters or plot.

Shoutout to Carl Weathers. The guy's always been cool and I'm glad to see he's still cool and as charismatic as ever. A pleasure to have him in the Star Wars universe.

This episode was some of the best Star Wars stuff ever. Reminded me of the Clone Wars tv show.

the Whistling Birds are "old", in the 2002 game "Bounty Hunter" it was also available and you can nicely see that the Knives of the Mandalorians are Vibroblades

100% Agree with Alex, but i'm not as confused as to why they kept the trackers, but where the hell is the receiving end?? Did they plant a chip on baby Yodle like a dog or something? I was under the impression that the chip was in the carriage, but that's in the trash. How do these trackers work?
