That's so interesting that the Dr Parker's widdow was the first to pay into the fund for the widdow of her husband's murderer. Kindness in the midst of cruel horror.

If you have a friend who needs money~if you have it to give~don't expect repayment. Tell them it's a gift. That you want to help. I'd never loan money. That sets you and the person up for failure. If you don't have it. Don't loan it.

Never loan money to your friends. They'll disappear from your life and never pay you back. Or in this case, they'll murder you 😳 when I give money I consider it a gift to them and don't expect them to pay me back, learned that the hard way after losing a couple of friends.

I was touched to hear that the widow donated to the perpetrator's children. That is true selfless generosity.

Even back then dentists were used to help identify the deceased by their ‘teeth’. Who knew part of a dentists’ job description was regularly helping the police identify bodies?

What I love especially about the older cases is that it demonstrates the history of crime, police and how forensics have developed. What I am glad about today, is that the police now know it can be anything and anybody. But back in those days it had to be the so called lower classes and ignorant poor, yes it had to be the caretaker because we upper classes could never commit a crime like that! The care taker was extremely bright. To note that the Doctor was actually talking to him and to secondly go back and recheck. Im guesstimating that this caretaker was probably very intelligent but probably didnt have the funds to go to University or medical school. Thank goodness some things have changed for the better!

There is a true crime podcast called Most Notorious and they did an epsidoe of this case. They usually interview authors of true crime books and they are usually from 1950 and older (there are a couple 70s ones). Which is one the same reasons I like this channel!

Parkman didn't deserve to die they way, justice was served in this case. And the fact his widow gave money to Websters wife and children shows she was a kind woman.

In the end there still talks about the caretaker doing the crime. Didn't know that the butler did it meme already existed back then.

I read a very detailed book on this case called The Disappearance of Dr. Parkman, in which evidence demonstrated Dr. Webster's innocence and the guilt of the custodian Littlefield, who had a grudge against Dr. Webster and the added incentive of robbing Dr. Parkman, who was known to carry substantial cash due to his parsimony in not hiring an agent and collecting his own money. There was enough evidence raised to convince me there was at least reasonable doubt to find Webster not guilty. His confession was doubtful. An unsolicited minister visited him in private with no witnesses and published "the confession" for his own monetary gain AFTER the execution.

I am totally addicted to this channel. It is intelligently done with precision, clarity, and with just the right amount of details. Great talent of narration, of preparation, of research. Just perfect.

I think Dr. Webster was taken advantage of, quite frankly. Dr. Parkman said nothing for years, then tells his colleague that instead of around $400 he now expects to be paid $2,000 in interest charges that were never discussed previously before the loan. That is a staggering sum of money back then.

Pretty chilling... What bothers me the most about this case is why Dr. Webster didn't got rid of the body? It was the most critical evidence!

I love the detail and respect you give to each of these histories. I enjoy hearing them as if walking through a complete museum display of the case for my eyes to view while my ears hear the description of the case and lives involved. Thank you again for your wonderful work!

Professor Webster had big holes inside his pockets. I don't buy his explanation of increasing household being the main cause of it. There are many big families not as wealthy and yet able to get by their expenses. So what Webster was really doing with his money? Secret medical research? Financing events or organizations we aren't aware of? Or maybe some of his secret vices? 🤔

This is another great video. Another case you should do is the Gee Jon case. This case is notable as he was the first person ever to be executed by means of lethal gas in the United States.
