Four comments: 1: You don’t need to completely remove the sway bar if you detach it from both lower control arms. It will swing out of the way. 2: It’s easier to manipulate the control arms and hub assembly if you remove the brake rotors. There’s a little more wiggle room. 3: The control arms will come out easier if you move the hub assembly to the side and raise the control arm to nearly horizontal before encouraging it with a large hammer. 4: Use a jack to raise the replacement control arm, pressing the ball joint into it’s socket, and raising the control arm to nearly horizontal. You can then use a large hammer to tap the bolt holes into position. The key is that the arms are easiest to remove and install when they are nearly horizontal. Again, removing the brake rotors will give you a little more wiggle room. Thanks for the excellent video!

Good vid. Didn't go through all the comments but there's a bolt you can also hold on the backside of the sway bar end link you can hold. If the Allen head is rusted to hell and stripped like mine was

On removing that read piece on the control arm, you don't have to do all that moving and jerking it around. That part where the arm goes in, has been contoured to allow it's removal. If you look at the control arm, there is a flat side to it. When you turn it so slightly, twist it counterclockwise just a tad bit, it'll slide right out. Like he said, don't make it any harder than it has to be.

@abisai espinoza It's a front wheel drive, doesn't have a transmission. It is a front wheel drive car, has a trans-axle. I am not sure what your saying, since I did not have any problem. Now, you do have to jack the car up, put it on blocks, and take off the 2 front tires.

Excellent video straight to the point and helped me greatly. I would say reinstalling the A-Frame went easier using a scosor jack under the lower ball joint on the frame. It helped me mostly line everything up without over exerting myself.

thanks, 18mm indeed on the rear control arm nut. You saved me a lot of time. ALSO, for anyone doing this, there's a plastic clip for the brake lines attached to the rear bolt of the control arm on the drivers side. spin the bolt and pry the clip upward with a screw driver until it comes off. With the clip removed, it's easiest to use the box end of the 18mm wrench to secure the nut while you use impact to pull the bolt. if the bolt is rusty, apply penetrating fluid.

Beutiful video, loved it. It helped me due my first install. Now I got the driver side left. I'm take the sway bar off I didnt when I did the passenger side.. God bless

Finally done !!! If anyone plans on doing this, I suggest spraying penetrating oil on the bolts at least a day before doing it. I had to use a torch on one of the mounting bolts, I didn’t want to snap a bolt, oh and get an angle grinder with metal cutting wheels, you’ll thank me later.

I guess that you're using the grinder on the stabilizer bar end links... Yes, that allen head cant handle the torque needed to remove the nut on the end link... Since you're replacing the control arm anyway and the link won't survive in 90% of cases, just use a wrench and socket to remove the nut on the other end of the link witch is attached to the stabilizer bar and when the control arm comes out it'll come out with it... No grinder needed.

Got the drivers side out on a 2001 Dodge Stratus, control arm came out way easier than the Sebring. Waiting for parts, then do the other side.

nice video I have a 1999 sebring On your lower on the vertical bolt nut I belive the nut that is wilded to the framecame loose broke the weld Any idea how to repare it.

Just finished, took about 6 hours. The hardest part was installing the new arm and lining up the rear bolt. I would strongly recommend a lift to do this repair, unless you are young and nimble. As the man at the local dealership says, this was the absolutely worst engineered car to work on.

So mine doesn't have the hex head on the one bolt it's just a slit in the middle of the bolt. Any screwdriver input in just bends any idea?

Thank you for your video. Helped make my Sebring repair less daunting. Had difficulty with my driver side. The forward bolt kept hanging up on the transmission. I ended up cutting the old control arm on the back leg. Once I did that, and with lots of wiggling, the bolt came right out. I've seen other videos suggesting you drop the center support or loosen the engine mount. don't make it any harder than it has to be!

Well from the looks of it I might not be doing this after all. I have a squeaky driver side lower ball joint on my 2004 Sebring Convertable. Thank you for doing this sort of video as most of these fix it yourself videos you find people have everything they need and do not show the troubles in completing the task at hand. I end up trying it and have nothing but troubles with finishing the task and it takes a butt load longer then the person in the video states. I have seen another video doing the same thing your doing, and one of the bolts that go to the back part of the arm broke off! That is not my sort of thing to try and fix. Don't have the tools, welder torch to fix that so I am strongly thinking of taking it in to have someone do it at a garage. Thank you again...

So my Sebring is making noise when I turn the wheel I'm pretty sure it the drivers side ball joint do both have to be replaced at the same time drivers and passengers?

As far as I know, you only need to replace a ball joint when it's necessary to do so. You don't have to do them in pairs. I ended up having to do both lower control arms at the same time because both ball joints were beat to hell. The rubber gaskets were both completely deteriorated.

When i first start my truck and go down the road if i have to stop at a light on the end of the street the engine looses rpms and makes a sucking sound then i have to give it gas and it is fine. After i drive it for a minute or two it does not do that when i stop. Any ideas on what is causing it?

Why doesn’t this work with Chrysler Sebring 08? My front left lower ball joint is bad and I want to save a hundred dollars or more and do it myself. But you say this doesn’t work for 08
