Welcome to another Doctor Reacts to Grey's Anatomy video! This is PART TWO of the AFTERMATH to the plane crash (Season 9 Episode 2 - Remember the Time). We find out how Dr. Derek Shepard does after his serious hand injury from the plane crash. Dr. Torres does preoperative planning for his nerve repair surgery. How does Christina Yang do with her psychotic symptoms? What exactly happened in the wilderness before they got rescued?? How was everyone able to survive their horrible injuries?? We find out in this episode!
We review some real anatomy and pathophysiology throughout this video. If you love medical dramas and medicine, you're in the right place!
Why do I love doing these Greys Anatomy reaction videos? I've really been inspired by Doctor Mike who does incredible teaching in his doctor reaction videos. I've also been inspired by reaction videos from Dr Kristina Braly, Doctor Mama Jones and Dr Hope Sick Notes. This is a great method for teaching various medical topics and I'm definitely hooked on doing these medical drama reviews.

When she explained about Lexie in the woods. I feel bad for Christina because I feel she loved Lexie like she was another sister, she was the family Cristina didn’t have , as well as Meredith. She tried to protect her body

I swear the aftermath was SO much worse than the actual plane crash! Poor Christina. Mark kept dying, Arizona had bugs in her leg, and Lexie's body! I forgot about all of that.

Thanks for covering this! That scene with Yang describing all the stuff she experienced is indeed brutal. Being the only one really physically sound she had to be the one holding it all together. I can't wait for more!

I don't know how many of these reactions videos you will probably do, especially the Grey's Anatomy's ones, BUT please, react to episode 15 of season 7. There's no big drama, tragedy or romance, it's a pretty normal one, a really good onde where Meredith shows what can happen in a period of one hour. SPOILER ALERT: A LOT! 😂 Its name's Golden Hour. Also, I've watched lotsa doctors react but I love love love your inclusion of diagrams, surgery footage, graphics, studies and more. Completely new take that doesn't go unnoticed. As someone uber disabled, was pre-med, etc I'm very familiar with most definitions, but the surgical training footage and similar materials are unique and so valuable.

One of my favourite episodes (it's a two parter) is Walk on Water/Drowning on Dry Land. One of the many episodes where Meredith escapes death (I think because of the diving reflex and her being the main character and therefore being immortal) and Izzie making burr holes with a regular burr.

this is pretty irrelevant but anyway, fun fact: I live in Germany and Dr. Trendelenburg‘s great great great (great?) granddaughter goes to the same medical school as me and she told me that every generation of her family had at least one doctor or pharmacologist 😅 it’s kinda funny to me because I think friedrich Trendelenburg lived in the 19th century so that’s a lot of generations of doctors

The show runner switched to Krista Vernoff a few seasons after this and they made a conscious effort to be even more precise with the medical accuracy as the seasons went on. Also, laws changed while this show has been on such as limits to how many hours a resident can put in and additional HIPPA regulations were passed. 3D printing was a pipe dream when the show started and it is now a reality. A perfect example of this is the first full episode with Dr. Maggie Pierce (after Dr. Yang leaves for Switzerland). They had a family with genetic cardiomyopathy at the end of Season 10 and they ruled out all sorts of causes as child after child died. The news had a story about a new gene being found to cause cardiomyopathy and that gene ended up being the gene that family had...the show addressed how the gene had been unknown link just weeks earlier and now it showed the family had done everything possible to save their children's lives. That is the beauty of having a show with medical accuracy...

love this reaction series! incredibly informative, it’s so great to follow along and learn. an episode i think you should react to is season 3 episode 15. there’s a ferry boat crash with mass casualties, lots of different in-field procedures! there’s a continuation/aftermath episode in the following episode which may pique your interest too!

Hi Dr! I’ve always wanted an actual surgeon’s opinion on episode 13 from season 12, where there is a patient who has pelvic cancer and Callie decides to cut his leg off and center the other one in the middle of his body. I’ve never understood how this would work or be a better alternative?

My great uncle was a POW and had to drink his urine. I don't know if he would've acted differently if he knew better, but back when he was held captive, the knowledge wasn't there.

Hey doctor dan, I was just wondering if it is possible to do a bone transplant. I know it is possible to do a bone marrow transplant, but can you transplant like a femur or part of one or would you have to make it out of titanium or something. Love your vids!💙
