CLIP DESCRIPTION:
William 'D-Fens' Foster (Michael Douglas) shoots up a phone booth in a reaction to a rude bystander waiting in line.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
It's just not William Foster's (Michael Douglas) day. Laid off from his defense job, Foster gets stuck in the middle of the mother of all traffic jams. Desirous of attending his daughter's birthday party at the home of his ex-wife (Barbara Hershey), Foster abandons his car and begins walking, encountering one urban humiliation after another (the Korean shopkeeper who obstinately refuses to give change is the worst of the batch). He also slowly unravels mentally, finally snapping at a fast-food restaurant that refuses to serve him breakfast because it's "too late." Running amok with an arsenal of weapons at the ready, Foster -- also known as "D-FENS" because of his vanity license plate -- rapidly becomes a source of terror to some, a folk hero to others. It's up to reluctant cop Prendergast (Robert Duvall), on the eve of his retirement, to bring D-FENS down.

I think he did say "What?", but the audio is from a different take where they liked his "What?" there the best, however the liked this footage better, and additionally he probably forgot to say "What?" in the actual footage here, so they spliced the two together. Either that, or they added the "What?" as an afterthought through ADR.

Cell phones already existed, they were like bricks but they did. However they were super expensive and only rich folks held them. Wall Street guys and so on. It started being popular at the end of the 90s. No internet on them though until following decade.

Sunset and Crescent Heights...the big building to Douglas's right is a mall with (at least when I lived there) a Wolfgang Puck restaurant, a Crunch gym franchise, I think a Tower or Virgin records, and the Laemmle Sunset 5 movie theater. The big brown thing next to the El Pollo Loco is an inflatable butt, no kidding, that was used to promote the then-hot Sir Mix-a-Lot single "Baby Got Back."

Yeah, ur right the kid did fall off his bike TWICE. I always love great Continuity Direction in movies. Doesn't the Director or Editor ever actually watch what they are editing and putting together? Unreal!! A 5 yr old could have caught that screw up.

Actually there are alot of other things wrong with that part of scene. Watch it again, closely, over and over again. 1) In first camera shot of kid falling off his bike, he is lined up to be inbetween the little car on the left and the Lincoln (I think it is) on the right. In the 2nd camera shot when kid is apparently falling off his bike a 2nd time, he is lined up with the middle of the Lincoln. 2) The man and woman running from left to right on sidewalk in from of store fronts: In first shot they are together with woman slightly ahead of man. In 2nd shot they are delayed in running from left to right, and woman is well behind the man. So this clearly indicates that the Director did NOT use 2 cameras and film it once, but filmed it a 2nd time from a different camera angle. That he was so stupid or unaware of Continuity, that he messed up. So that means they had to bring in a whole new un-shot up phone and phone booth to shot it a 2nd time. Why didn't Director just have 2, 3, 4 cameras set up from diff angles, and THEN decide what to use in the film?
