Absolute classic! Apparently when Nicholas Courtney turned his chair to the camera Jon Pertwee had himself, Caroline John and John Levine wearing an eye patch and a scar too, for a laugh. But Nicholas Courtney didn't even miss a beat and continued with his dialogue completely unfazed.

He looks so different without the mustache, i never really realised how much a mustache can frame a face before.

R.I.P. Jon, Nicolas and Caroline.

What I've found funny is that Verity Lambert seemed to not be fond of Jon Pertwee's Doctor because he "took it too seriously," but what's funny is I think he had the perfect balance of tough guy, fun guy and grandfather in him. His was one of the few Doctors who has been a truly rounded character.

This brings back such fond memories of when Doctor Who could be quite a serious show.

This is possibly the best Jon Pertwee serial that I've watched. :)

One of my favourite Doctor Who stories of all time. Pertwee's first season was just fantastic.

Parallel universes, oh how i love them.

Nicholas Courtney frequently told a story about filming this scene. When he spun his chair around all of the cast and crew were wearing eye patches as well, but he managed to keep going. In 2011 when the writers heard that Courtney had passed away, they incorporated several tributes to him in The Wedding of River Song, including scenes where "everybody was wearing an eye patch" in reference to Courtney 's story. In the latter episode, the "eye patches" are explained as eye drives, an eye patch like device

Definitely my favorite Pertwee story. Also it took me a second on my first watch to figure out that Nicholas Courtney is still playing the Brigade Leader.

This was Jon Pertwee best performance as the Doctor hands down.

The haunting industrial sounds in the outdoor scenes, and the permanent sound of the drill in the interior scenes. Absolute Doctor Who perfection. Plus the acting in this scene is 👌

Yeah, Goatee Spock and Eyepatch Brig were the mirror universes of my childhood and are still the best. :-) And when Evil Brig starts coming unglued, that's some of the best acting and writing the show's ever had.

One slight error is that everyone in this universe still refers to Keith Gold as 'Sir Keith', even though the Brigade Leader tells the Doctor that the Royal Family was executed in the 40s

Probably the most political Doctor Who serial I can think of, and one of the most traditional "science fiction" serials as well.

Jon Pertwee run was unique stranded TARDIS has it's strengh

If I ever joined DW, I'd pen an episode where the TARDIS crash lands in an earlier point in the 'Inferno' timeline and the Doctor comes face to face with the Leader himself. Also going off that picture, Hugh Laurie would be an ideal pick to play the Leader.

This was my first introduction to Doctor Who - and what a first story to begin with, yes?

Definitely's Pertwee's best year of stories. Things became too "safe" in later years with UNIT. Inferno's probably the best one of the lot, although all 3 others have got strong cases. Personally I think this stands up as the very best year of the classic series (don't watch the new one so can't comment). Pertwee gave less condescending performances in this year as well, he and the Brigadier seemed far more equal than they subsequently became. Pity this was lost.

Scariest Who Story ever

Has to be the most intense story, ruined only by the radiation werewolf.

Saw the trailer for this and then saw this scene. Makes me want to go and watch it.

I never had a chance to see the entire episode but the final chapte was quite good. I found the Third Doctor to be quite good. I think he could have gone on longer.

@doctorwhoone Learn your Whoniverse history - the Time Lords fought a war with the Great Vampires back in the Dark Times. If you want such a cliched Mirror Universe story, having the vampires win that war is a pretty good starting point.
