Not to mention first use I fill it with water. It's part one of testing.... Water board torture. If it passes, I'll add salt, a few drops on the floor, use it as a hammer and all goes well I might even put a drop or two of oil in it before it seizes up....😏

As a retired boat technician here in upstate NY, its great watching you'r videos. I rarely see techs go the extra mile when diagnosing problems just to make sure they make the correct diag ! Keep up the good work.

A few weeks after a brake job, my 19yo said it was making a noise, especially when turning. I listened carefully and heard nothing; she insisted it was there. To prove it was nothing, I agreed to jack it up and pull the wheel. I use a wire coat hanger to hang the caliper from the spring... and most of the time, I remember to remove it. 😁

Funny you should mention that. When replacing a wheel bearing on my Impala about 3 weeks ago, I used a bungee chord to hold the caliper. A few days later, when sitting in front of my brother-in-law's house, he said "Is that a snake under your car " ? You can guess what it was !

years ago one of dads customers had a similar noise the manufacturer had added a bonus C clamp as a n extra in a fender.

I mysteriously lose 2-3 bungee cords per year myself. I may have sent an oil filter socket on a ride under a Sienna a couple of weeks ago also.

Eric, you are a nice guy... But Mrs. O, Rocks. You are are a lucky man and please never forget it. I love that you bring some real old fashion family values into your content. It is refreshing for us that grew up that way. However, I was the cook and the mechanic too. But the wife was fabulous as the helper. Nothing beats the the true family unit. Oh, I miss them days.

Difficult to understand why NAPA hasn't sponsored the best automotive channel on YT... Your videos have helped me restore my 2004 Silverado 2500HD... The videos when you test drive and just talk random thoughts is better than 95% of network tv....

I wouldn't be surprised at all if he's turned down sponsorship of the channel. If it was sponsored, he'd be limited on what products can be shown. Companies like NAPA, Advance, CRC and Fluid Film are probably happy to have their stuff shown for free. Dorman on the other hand...probably not so much! Hell, Advance and Cooper Tire get free advertisements in nearly EVERY video from their banners hanging on the wall. I don't personally like Wearever brake stuff but I'll use it if it's the only thing available. I do run Cooper tires on most of my vehicles though.

Easy job !!!!! Eating that HUGE burger and ALL them fries took longer than the entire brake and links job !!! Mrs. O. is sure a good cook. She needs to start a cooking you tube video series !!!! I know more than a dozen ladies I would constantly send her link too !!!!! Quality work from a quality shop by a quality mechanic.....That's what SMA is all about !!!!!!

Like the spider walking across the hub at approx 2mins 30 Eric, done the same job here in the UK today on a Nissan Note with the big 1.5 in it , stick shift of course , had to collect the car from the customer as he works for the Health Service and is working from home due to the old 19, one happy guy, service done, new brakes , sway bar links, stop light bulbs, coolant , heat shield removed from the exhaust (rattling loads), and less than 450 Good old English Pounds, nice lunch you guys had , I had 2 home made ham crusty rolls and a soft drink , great family entertainment, lovely family concern you have , Mrs O is amazing at what she does for your family, well done Eric

First Mrs. O starts by answering phone greeting customers , all around receptionist. Then her wonderful husband installed a very nice kitchen set up after a time of hot plate n microwave. Now getting fancy kitchen equipment to enjoy/use in Mrs. O's nice kitchen set up. Those meals you show us are quite divine. Next step is Mrs. O's grab n go burgers while Doctor O fixes your vehicle. Hmm ???

Eric my name is Sam I own a tool business in California also was a nice certified front-end mechanic for a number of years before I got in the tool business really enjoy your videos you really do a good job of explaining I know how to do all the old stuff but some of the new stuff like the affordable drive forwards with the vacuum never seen it before cuz I quit doing that when I got in now the tool business anyway enjoy your videos I got an accident about 8 years now I've been in a wheelchair ever since so I got nothing else to do but look at videos all day and yours are the ones I like the most thanks for all the entertainment

Pretty much everything I ever work on has that style of caliper and bracket, simple and effective. Euro style! I have amassed a great collection of 7mm tools for all occasions. Ps, living the dream with burgers, dogs and your kids at the shop. Excellent.

Every time i have a triumph in the garage (usually finally fixing something that was kicking my ass) it is super satisfying to sit down with my redbull on ice and see a new SMA video come up - even a brake job in this case. If i'm stuck on something in the garage, I can't enjoy it so much, due to the reminder that i have a problem waiting! But you have helped me out of a few jams during those times thanks to your Subaru videos! Keep up the good work! EDIT: Those burgers look to tasty too be drenched in condiments. Mrs. O can cook a mean burger apparently. Gotta once in awhile try a plain cheeseburger to remember how good they are!

Great BJ video. (Hehe) Top tip: If the pins are full of crap and rust, just spin them with the ugga-dugga-gun on some 800 grit sandpaper. Makes them shiny and rust free. Almost died when the PushPushPush came. (If you follow SMA videos you know what happened the first time Eric heard it....)

My ex used to have a place in NY up a bit north of Eric O's garage. North of Syracuse, actually, and those folks crack me up with being all steamed by 80 degree summer temps. I live in central Florida where that's early spring weather for us. Love Mr O's shows. Keep comin back

My wife drives a 2012 escape. Replace her brakes last summer. Bought Motor craft rotors and the front pads were from Wagner super quiet Bla bla ford recommend pads. I was surprised she let me do the brakes but I had to follow Fords recommendations and procedures. I bought Fords break grease and even got out my Torque wrench= The things we will do for those wives. Next time I'm in Ny. I'm calling in a lunch order for pick up. Those were some awesome burgers and fries

I've got a 2008 Escape that needs basically a whole front end rebuild, plus valve cover seals, and a leaking rear end. I'm just running it until something breaks. These things are pretty tough though 😂

I resemble that.I forget stuff like that so often. Whenever I do a job like that I triple check myself because I know how I am. When I was in college I had counselors tell me I should go an be a doctor or such. I thanked them and thought "yeah and I'll leave stuff in a patient or forget some major thing". A man has to know his limitations.

What a pisser, put a dryer on that line Eric! Brake Klean and fluid film are the star of the show...lol.. it`s always a good day when I get a notification of a new video from SMA, doesn`t matter what the topic is. Mevotech is like Dorman...junk. Astro Tools, not a sponsor, but should be. My brake test...get to 30-35 mph and check rear mirror..if clear hit the brakes..lol. Sounds like you need some BIG fans for air circulation. Geez Eric, those of us with '97-'03 model F-150s would like to see you do some of your voodoo on them. They're ubiquitous, so you shouldn't have an issue finding one to install new brakes or maybe some front end stuff. Evidently they're the only trucks that can survive the NE winters. All the rest including the chevy's and dodge's must not be able handle the cold or even the summer heat up there, cuz that's all you get in your shop.

Yes it's getting hot here again too... was much cooler for a couple weeks. Managed to get my Mondeo AC fixed in time, the old compressor blew its guts and tore the serpentine belt, not very close to home... not much later than the water pump was replaced. I've now been twice blessed by the steel sheet head gasket. Apparently no damage from overheating.
