It couldn't have been that serious of an attempt if they didn't need to pump the guy's stomach, and I doubt that Peach's attempt was any more severe. Threats of suicide and non-serious attempts are a manipulation tactic in the arsenal of the shittiest people. It's emotional blackmail, banking on their targets' empathy to manipulate them through fear, obligation, and guilt. See, if she were a "good person", she would fear anything bad happening to them, feel obligated to prevent it, and feel guilty if she didn't... or at least, that's what's expected of people who possess normal emotional empathy, and those without the sense to recognize when it's a manipulation would rather victim-shame her for not falling for it.

This is an abuse tactic sometimes used by people with highly empathetic partners. If you have broken things off with someone & they threaten this the best thing to do is (1) call someone in their family who might care & let them know and/or (2) ask police to do a wellness check after determining the person's location. You might feel you're being heartless, but the worst thing you can do is to return to this person. For you, especially. Remember, "always apply your own air mask first" applies in life as well as on planes.

Talk with your partner, explain that you do love them, but also start to love X and ask if they would be ok to have a poly relationship. This is how this is supposed to be done. An open relationship is, as far as I understand, based on trust, telling each other about those things BEFORE doing it and having the approval of all party involved. (meaning if X doesn't know you are dating someone else, you also need to tell them and inform them that you have permission from your partner) As far as I understand... This is how it works.
