I'm a Chinese guy, and my wife is Filipina. When I got to know her family, I was surprised by how welcoming they are. They just kept feeding me and inviting me to family events. Completely different from my experience with my Chinese ex girlfriend's parents. Definitely Filipinos are the warmest Asians.

In my travels throughout the Orient, I noticed some very striking differences between the Asiatic peoples. This was during the wicker furniture boom of the late 70's and 80's, so it was relatively still less traveled areas. When I was with some Chinese friends, I noticed they often always spoke about how much they ate, wanted to eat or needed to eat. This might be the after effects of the Cultural Revolution when the Chinese people would eat human flesh at times to satiate their hunger. The Japanese I met however were very quiet and rarely spoke about food except during meal times. This was when Japan was the second biggest economy and people were excited by all the innovations. The Chinese were very loud, abrasive and often spoke with food in their mouths. The Japanese would cover their mouths and eat very delicately. When I made by way to Philippines the people were friendly, often smiled even when they had nothing to say and had very little food. So many were starving, but they often invited me to dinner.

Nah, many Koreans still look down on Filipinos today, even though they love visiting Cebu and Boracay and studying English in the Philippines. I know this because some Korean vloggers who are now based in the Philippines say it is because of how the Korean media portrays the Philippines as a dangerous and poor country. If you go around their country and ask about the Philippines, most Koreans will say the Philippines is dangerous. But even though that's a harsh reality, Filipinos still love K-pop and K-dramas; hence, many Korean vloggers are fascinated by the Filipino people. If you watched their videos, you would see that they are trying hard to remove that stereotype from their country. Maybe in 5-10 years from now, it will change because of the effort of those bloggers.

Filipinos are Southeast Asians with Pacific Islander vibe, with a little hint of Latino, a bit Americanized, with strong influences from East Asia.
@rayovsaan1820
@rayovsaan1820 Күн бұрын
Allow me to correct this,… Filipinos are on average SE-Asians, specifically Austronesian (genetically & ethnically). On average, having varying Indigenous heritage (eg: Aeta) including Australo-Melanesian admixture(eg Papuan). They are strongly influenced by Hispanic culture with a hint of genetic admixture(this admixture consist of both Spanish and Native American genetics as a package hence Latino). Historically, they also take influence from East Asia and South Asia with varying degrees of admixture depending on the individual. The Philippines’ modern culture is heavily Americanized. Filipinos from a distance look like a sea of brown skin, dark haired people but zoomed in they are diverse with variations depending on their specific heritage. This summary is based on facts and scientific data. Non-debatable.

The Indians, Chinese and Filipinos I have met have been so friendly and kind. There were Japanese exchange students at my school one year and wow, they were so friendly. When I opened the door to their classroom, they all came up and said "hello" and were smiling and excited to talk to me. While I did not spend a lot of time with them, I could tell those girls and boys were so bubbly and happy. I don't think this has anything to do with ethnicity/race though but rather personality, values and where you have grown up (so basically environmental factors). Also, those Japanese students, for example, were kids just like me so it was just that universal teenage spirit that they displayed.

I am Filipino and my fiancé is Chinese. From my spending time with both sides of our families, I admit that my side of the family are a lot warmer and passionate as oppose to my fiancé's side. When I met his family at first, I thought they they didn't like me, because their reaction to me seemed lukewarm if not standoffish. My fiancé explained that his family - mostly the elderly relatives - prefer to stay in their "Chinese bubble" since that's where they are most comfortable. And, for the most part, that's how Chinese people are in most things. Knowing that, I try not to take it personally. That being said, wherever I am in the US, I find that Cambodians, Indians, Pakistanis, Indonesians and Thai people to be among the friendliest Asians. Even if they cannot speak English well, they'll still try to befriend and converse with you. ☺ Unfortunately, I find Koreans to be the least friendly. They're either very standoffish or angry/aggressive. I honestly do not know why. I try to talk about K-pop or K-dramas with them, but nope. Maybe I'm just not lucky in finding one that's nice to me 😅😂

First, there are Filipinos all over the world. Pretty much everywhere I’ve been internationally, there’s always a group of Filipinos that live there. A few years ago I went to a Jollibee in Milan, Italy around lunchtime. I was the only non Philippines born in the entire place. That being said, Filipinos have learned over the centuries to blend in wherever they live in the world. The meanest from my personal experience have been the Beijing Chinese and the Hong Kong Chinese. I did find some friendly Hong Kong Chinese, but almost everyone that I met in Beijing was either impolite or flat out rude.

The lukewarmness of Chinese people is I think a trait that Japanese people also share. And I think it comes from a similar place where they're cautious to say if they love or hate something. And it also just wouldn't be truthful to how they feel. For most things, we just feel pretty close to neutral about. And even if we have an opinion, it's not super strong. I think this is in contrast to South Koreans who I think, from what ive seen, love hard and hate hard.

Yeah, I have had pretty good experiences with Indian and Filipino people as a whole more so than the other groups (mostly Indian people). The other groups seemed to love to hang around white people all the time (this was just at Columbia University and around other areas in NYC). Not that I care at all but it's an observation because I travel around various areas from time to time. I have no idea about other places. Columbia even did a study on stuff, like this regarding Asian women looking for white men and so on (I never cared enough to read the study but ran across it). The statistics seem on point (sadly). I know the study is not just talking about one place However, the funny thing is NYC is diverse but lacks diversity within friendships, etc. I mean look at our neighborhoods and how certain people live in certain areas, which is not totally by design. Good video! Chinese people have probably been in the U.S. longer than everyone on that list considering Chinese people built the railroad in this country and couldn't get back after they did (sad part of history where the people who brought them lied to them). The thing that I find hilarious is that a good number of Koreans are Christians, so you would believe that they would be more accepting, but I find that some of the most religious people tend to be a constant contradiction regardless of race, nationality and ethnicity (some people hide behind religion but don't practice what the good book says). The other thing is people stereotype a lot regarding things they hear from certain groups about other people, etc. India and the Philippines are both pretty diverse with the Siddi's and the Negrito people, etc.

Growing up in the Philippines, the godmother I was closest to was Chinese. Nothing lukewarm about her. Very affectionate and she and her husband always looked for me. Her daughter was a former Miss Chinatown and she (my godmother) was very beautiful. Some Korean American and Korean Canadian ladies, however, have been very nice to me. My son always gravitates toward Filipino mothers because of me. I tend to get along with Japanese. I got along well with a Taiwanese engineer at work (he retired, though, so I don't see him at work anymore) i loved to listen to his stories about his wife and children and his relative who headed a Taiwanese dance company that performed in D.C. The lady who owns the Korean restaurant here in our small town is a sweetheart. A former Mrs. Korea, so beautiful outside and inside. Her husband is Brazilian American, if I am not mistaken. My son works with a number of Chinese models because they wear his fantasy and avant garde hairstyles so well during shows. And let's take celebs. I found Japanese rockers to be really nice and accommodating to fans, regardless of ethnicity and color. On the other hand, I flew to Vancouver for a Korean celeb's fan meeting and sorry, but I found him snooty, not to mention a number of the staff selling the merch were just as snooty. Yet, I went to the Japan Day fest in NYC during Mother's Day weekend and the Japanese were very warm and welcoming. And seeing the star of the "Naruto" stage play was an added bonus.

Philippines was colonized by Spain for over 330 years. I believe in around 1570 China came to Manila but only to trade with Spain, and the Dutch and the British tried to take the Philippines from Spain but they did not stay. Then the US went to war with Spain invaded Manila destroying the Spanish fleet in 1898. Thereafter the Germans under Von Bismarck tried to take on the US for the Philippines but backed down. The US stayed until the end of World War 2. I'm old and as a kid in Manila I've seen Americans all the time even in my school, that was in the early 1960s. So the Filipinos are used to being with Europeans and Americans.
