Reminds me a bit of Star Citizen, although at least they've made most of the ships they've sold. The full game might never release, but you can at least fly around in those ships right now, which seems to be leaps and bounds more functionality than Earth 2 has.

@@Greywander87 Star Citizen is another nightmare in the making. It is closer to the end goal of an actual product compared to Earth 2... technically... but its not close to said goal. With that said, as a rule, I'm HIGHLY skeptical towards anything that makes as much money as SC and still feels like it needs to sell imaginary ships for thousands of dollars.

Well, they're engaging in false equivalence. Consumer good will. E2 Shills make money based only upon shilling E2... ...and that depends upon whether they can actually cash out before E2 gets shut down for their shady shenanigans.

Just one tiny thing that hasn't been talked about much yet regarding this alledged game; They cannot possibly deliver what they promise, only a compromise between two possibilities - specifically it isn't possible to map a sphere with squares, therefore either they must make the ingame map a flat plane if they want to make the 10m2 squares not a lie, or they have to squeeze the squares to fit onto a sphere, causing a loss of land owned the closer it is to the poles(or other points of convergence if not located at the poles). So, is it going to be a flat map with a projection of the real earth and invisible borders fencing the players in? Or is it going to be a sphere with non-equal tiles favoring size-wise the squares located closest to the equator? Can't have both.. That's kind of one of those things mathematicians and scientists have been fiddling with for centuries, and so far we're still at the point of preferring to skew our map projections since it's quite impractical for us to remake the real earth as a flat plane that can easily be divided by straight lines of longitude and latitude ;p (Edit: does stating these facts magically attract flat earthers?)

Good God. When you mentioned Nathaniel Doldersum, one of the D.R.O.N.E. devs being an Earth2 dev, that really fucked me up. I've been following that game's development for the better part of a couple years, even having invested in it due to how much I like the premise of the game. When I saw they were looking at ways to secure a future for their game I had assumed a publisher or some kind of EGS exclusivity, but putting that next to the articles of evidence in this video has got me genuinely terrified for the future of that project. If their solution involves Earth2, that would be game development suicide and would absolutely pull the plug on that game's life support. Thanks for bringing that tidbit to light. EDIT: After looking at their Discord, it appears Doldersum had actually left the company of the other devs near the start of the year, presumably to work on this. Slightly more promising, but still slightly concerning.

I absolutely agree with you. I've also dipped back into the discord and the number of people who jump to defend E2 when it's mentioned, even in a neutral way, is horrifying. If it does turn out to be an E2 deal, then I'll be requesting my money back. I know that's not how crowd funding works, but if enough people do it, they may cave. Even if they don't, if enough people do complain/request refunds, it'll make a statement that could potentially, although very unlikely, go so far as to make it to the mainstream news.
@NOTBUYMERUMAGAIN
@NOTBUYMERUMAGAIN 3 жыл бұрын
To be clear you would ask for a refund because a guy on the internet calls a platform in development a scam? Let me rephrase he can't call it a scam because that would require proof which he doesn't offer. The devs have been very forth coming in their communications in the discord and have answered lots of questions in great detail. When youtubers like Sid have the opportunity to ask questions they aren't exactly asking tough questions, they get responses, they move on and boom another video. At this point it really comes down to can E2 deliver? So atleast they can call them dirty devs and scammer for the next several years because of the "trust" they built and definitely not views. Granted the majority of E2 youtubers are snakes and it doesn't look good that some of those snakes are mods. Sigh.

@@NOTBUYMERUMAGAIN You people, that being yourself and others who have responded in defense of E2 to my previous comments on related videos, always seem to assume that I'm just parroting the opinion piece I've just watched without having any thoughts of my own. I can absolutely, and am doing so right now, telling you that this is not true... Once and only once, since I won't be responding to any of you, as defined above, again. If I had encountered E2 or it's competitor at random on the internet, and spent half an hour to look into it, I would have immediately recognized it for the predatory mayby-legal scam that it is (a scam needn't neccesarily break the law prior to running off with investors' money to be a scam). You do not start a project like the one that E2 claimed to be attempting, which requires user trust, by creating a hybrid MLM - Piramid Scheme that is at best so close to the line of illegality that it's not immediately a criminal activity, protected only by some of the worst terms of service on the internet. Absolutely everything about this project reeks of scum and greed. It is built exactly opposite to how it would need to be in order to appear at least possibly legitimate. A better model to follow, while no means perfect, is demonstarted by Star Citizen. While by no means a safe project to back, from the point of view of someone hoping for a finished project one day, it at least went about this in a more acceptable way. For example, it provids greater transparency, makes consistant claims about what it would and wouldn't include, and it reasonably and logically justifies and explains reductions or changes in scope. Meanwhile, E2 has litterally changed its stated goals and even self identification without notice, recorce, discussion or explination, thus potentially openning itself up to false advertising lawsuits in additon to everything else. Star Citizen has also been providing regular meaningful updates, with screenshots, developement streams or posts, concept art and more for years, while E2 makes some trashy notice about getting microtransactions in a non-game for mechanics that don't exist. While initially dubious, as many extreme-scope projects are, Star Citizen has since proven itself to be at least a legitimate project. Even if badly managed and ludicorusly money-hungry, it appears by all reckoning to be a reasonable attempt to produce what it claimed, and still claims, to aim to produce. Even contrasting the two in this way feels like a disservice to Star Citizen, which I have no finacial, personal or emotional investment investment in whatsoever. TLDR: I am not planning on asking for a refund because Cid Alpha or affiliated channels think it's a scam, but because the moment I saw the claimed goals, actual mechanisms in place, and terms of service, it was utterly unmistackable as anything but a soon-to-be-prosecuted scam. Anyone who claims otherwise is being willfully ignorant and/or has been horribly missinformed. You may take your pick as to which one I am calling you in this instance, but do be aware that I hold you and others like you, as defined above, in utmost contempt either way.

"You're guaranteed to make money; after all, I made money," is what drives pyramid schemes and bubbles. This is an artificially-generated bubble. All the devs need to do is to find a way to monetise ownership or transfer of ownership (and I thought of at least two ways off the top of my head) and there will be an awful lot of owners out an awful lot of money, and a dev company that's making an absolute boatload of money by acting as its own unregulated bank.

That quote, I hear that way too often from cryptobros defending their pyramid schemes. It's like talking to a brick wall. They never even care about the respective game. As long as they can make money, everything is fine. "Earth 2 and the likes will never fully release and live up to their promises? Who cares, I made money." It's like you're talking to aliens. You can really tell that these people aren't having gaming as their hobby. Releasing the jewels first was a really smart idea for all the wrong reasons. People are now incentivized to buy new titles so they can get even more jewels in the future, the fact that the players have to log in at least once a week to collect them also boost their numbers for possible investors and may trick people to buy more titles since they are interacting more with the "game". It also gives people an illusion they are working on the game, even if it's just a random drop system that doesn't really take that much time to implement.

lol who ever buys these boosters are really being blind. boosters for what land they promised to others? they already said they would create something microsoft or a bilions dollar industry didnt even have there hands on. and they have 7 people to start with? including a lill boy who made a game with stolen assets.... might sound rude but wich brainless people invested in this? and now it is a platform instead of a game? so many red flags right there

Just think of Earth 2 as a wick. One side is Earth 2 pocketing and burning $ and on the other side is people taking money out. Soon as they meet, it’s over. They just need to produce something, even a asset flip game. That’s why they hired the master at that.

I'm glad you were able to come back and do great public service. When you do good and motivate to do good and work on trust as you do, there's always someone who's wealthy or a few people who are willing to join money to help you keep going. I remember about someone I cannot mention on youtube who was given a tesla by her viewers, last year. She needed a car and she was bought a car by her fans who joined together and delivered the car directly to her. I'm glad you were able to get the same luck too.

If someone was actually trying to make a game like E2 and decided to put PvP in it, that alone would be a red flag for me. PvP in a game like this would either be completely inconsequential and thus nothing more than a pointless annoyance and griefing tool, *OR* If defeating another player allows you to profit in some way or take some of their resources, it would have no other possible outcomes than to further reinforce the snowball effect of the early big buyers completely dominating the poorer players with no recourse to counter it. But, y'know, *IF* E2 was ever actually intended to be a real game I'd be wary. An opinion just as hypothetical as this "game."

The people who think criticism of Earth 2 is to generate AD revenue obviously have never run a KZfaq channel or hope people don't understand how the monetization system works. Unless you're pulling millions of views on a regular basis, the amount of money you earn would be less than that of minimum wage. And that's if KZfaq doesn't regularly demonetize you with their "guilty until proven innocent" method of content curation.

@@jsmith5322 Again, what is your point? Your copypasta'd calculation completely ignores demonetization, which channels like Sid's suffer heavily from. Are you somehow implying someone that earns money as a content creator is somehow.. doing something wrong?

Let's also skip over the fact it's complete bull too. You're probably out by a factor of a hundred. Helps to know multiple channel hosts personally rather than a website you found on Google and assumed it was remotely realistic. Two dollars a click?
