I always ask men, if you are the leaders of the community, how can the women be responsible for everything? Responsibility is the yolk of adults so if the women bare all the responsibility then they are the adults and handling the most of it means THEY should be the leaders. You can't demand the rights of leadership and absolve yourself of the responsibilities that come with it. Men understand the roles of leadership when it comes to sports (team captain) but act all brand new when it comes to life. The energy in our community is so skewed that at this point, without a change in "leadership" or the male understanding of what true leadership is, we are gonna lose our place in the future.

I was raised to be a traditional woman by my Southern mother. Cooking, cleaning, sewing, crocheting, gardening sweet potato pie baking woman. Once a modern black man got done with using and abusing me, I had to figure out how to raise my autisic child on my own without any help from my ex-husband. Circumstances make woman tough and hard. Modern day black men make black women tough and hard.

Very true the problem is most people don’t look at women who sleep around as searching for help and wholeness, they just call them hoes. As well we need to recognize that men who sleep around are damaged as well and not see them as something to aspire too.

One of the main driving points in me striving to do the best I can for a woman someday was that one time a woman on facebook said "The problem with these men is that they want to hurt us but don't want to heal us." I replay that in my mind over and over as I strive to be the absolute best for my future wife someday.

I've been trying to talk to my friends about this... they all have the jaded mentality when it comes to dating and talking about women like they are damaged goods... but no one ever stops to think about the role they play in that. They hear all this advice about what's essentially boiled down to "you gotta get her before she gets you" (and vice versa for the women) but they never stop to think about the other person and the consequences of that. If you play someone, treat them poorly, or otherwise drag them around in the mud... YOU are the one doing the damaging and now that person develops a more cynical view and the cycle just continues. Make up in your mind that you are going to do what's right and be respectful no matter what... because you may not can change the whole dating landscape but you can surely enough make it a whole lot worse. The cycle has to stop somewhere so be brave enough to carry yourself in a selfless way that isnt contributing to the very problem you're complaining about

It’s definitely a coping mechanism and a lot women are realizing that. Which is when they decide to stop dating all together b/c it’s just a big game.

Loved your post as usual Shumake! I don't know all the statistics, but I know from just looking around, that there's disconnect among we as blk people. There's a number of us who meet and marry that wonderful person who is an asset in our lives and then there are those who end up with the wrong person. Then there are those who never meet anyone appropriate. Those in healthy and appropriate relationships are out living their lives and ensuring their relationships are strengthened and intact. Now these who are "venting" and hurting are another story. I hope the stats show more of us experience love and acceptance more often than experience hurt.

Women should stop dating and stop having sex for one year. I would pay all those strippers and any woman who has to defile herself to make ends meet. If women were protected like this and also choose not to deal with men, we would get back to center real fast. Everytime a man complains about women, I tell them to stop dating them.
