It was just a couple of weeks ago that we were discussing the newest PlayStation 5 Pro rumors, and now we have fresh scuttlebutt to parse through, particularly concerning our precious framerates and the potential of the still-unannounced console. But we can't help but also wonder what PS5's market potential will be. Will it spread the field or, as it's recently been suggested, merely sell to existing PS5 players? Heck, is there any saving console gaming at all in the long-term? Let's take some time to chat about all of that, plus other news: Helldivers 2's new patch, day-one games coming to PS+ Extra, Silent Hill 2 Remake's ESRB rating, revised PlayStation 2 sales numbers, and so much more. I worked at Petsmart for a bit when I was younger and one of the first things they beat into you was to always say adopt and not buy when a customer was there to adopt an animal. It’s REALLY important to some people for some reason.

Thats just a sales tactic. It’s a business and they are trying to sell these animals. However, actual adopting from rescue shelters is a good thing. There’s a ton of animals that get abused, or lived in fucked up homes. Rather than pay money to some breeder, it is better to adopt or rescue a dog that deserves a home.

The classic Soulslike game does include difficulty though. Demon's Souls, Dark Souls and Bloodborne, the definitive games for the genre, are all difficult games. It's rare for a game genre to become defined by difficulty and the only other examples that come to mind are bullet hell shooters and perhaps also fighting games to a lesser extent. You can make an easy bullet hell shooter or an easy fighting game, but it'll be something different from the classic experience.

I’m in the same boat as Dustin. Just had a new born, so my gaming has definitely gone to maybe 10% of what it used to be. Luckily my partner is supportive about my hobby and we both do “baby sitting” to give the other person time with their hobby’s.

@@alameano Grats! Yeah, it's interesting how each "stage" is different. Infants need more attention, but take more naps. Right now, my 3yo can be awake for 12 hours straight, but once he crashes, we can game and stuff without worrying about him waking up for 10-12 hours. All the best!

Colin, in regards to your house network issue you should be able to keep your router/ap combo box whereever you have it now and just run an ethernet cable to the Harry potter closet into a network switch there and then out to the rest of your house that is hardwired. Also I would recommend looking or paying someone to look into setting you up with a Unifi setup or something similar and get away from ISP hardware but that's alot more complicated but you should be able to feature match what you have now... The fact your house is hardwired and you don't use it kills me. Everything that can be hardwired should be hardwired, wifi in general is terrible comparatively.

I think he can have only Ethernet Switch in HP Closet with all wires connected to it and Comcast Combo Box wherever it is now and every socket in house will work. Problem is that everyone thinks that "router" is every part of network.

I wouldn’t say Stellar Blade is THAT Soulslike. I say that cuz I know that term puts off Colin and other people but those aspects that put people off aren’t really present here. There is no stamina gauge so you don’t have to manage that, you don’t lose your currency on death, from what I can tell there are no complicated stats, and other differences. What feels Soulslike about it is the fact that you can guard and perfect parry, or use dodge to evade attacks. Camera angle. Couple other things. That’s about it. Rest and upgrade stuff at checkpoints. Even the respawning isn’t like Souls games. You don’t go all way back to last rest point when u die. It auto saves much more frequently for death. So don’t be put off by that term. Souls games also don’t really have combos like this game does (or at least their combo system is much less arcadey than Stellar Blade’s)

I have the same TVs and I don't think Colin is using his LG magic remote to its fullest potential if he thinks the PS5 controller is easier to type with. The cursor/pointer mode or whatever it's called is so fast for that.

Great show, y'all. I'm one of those people who only listen to the podcast on my phone, usually when I'm driving, but sometimes also at my desk when I'm working. I've been listening to you (freeloading) since around Episode 50 or so. I fell away from the podcast for a while, and suddenly you're at Episode 301! Congratulations, gentlemen! Congratulations. Anyway, I've never actually watched an episode at all(not even this one). I would very likely not recognize any of you if I bumped into you--unitil you spoke. I wonder how many of us there are? LOL Did you ever do a follow up on the poor gent who had that "embarrasing" moment on his date(I'm trying to be sensitive here)? I know some follow up conversations on the podcast revealed that things ended up going very well with his lady. That was such a funny era. I should probably go back and listen to those episodes again. Great work, men.

Also, though I'm not a Life Actuary (I work as a Property & Casualty Actuary), I believe you're referring to the mortality tables, which are used by Life Actuaries for determining life expectancy as a part of pricing life insurance premiums.

1:59:11 I do! Part of the reason I ended up preordering my ps5 was for the fact it has a 4K bluray player. Ivesince gotten better internet, but at the time of the ps5 launch I had 5mb download speeds at BEST, so having a 4k disk player was a big deal for me.

Regarding the Portal: I got one for Christmas and I love it. I don’t use it everyday but when someone else is using the tv, or when I am playing in bed, it’s excellent. I definitely think you should still wire your PS5 to get the best experience, but even on WiFi I think it works well (I have great internet, again a caveat). Also the recent patches they’ve made to it really seem to have enhanced the streaming quality.

Final Fantasy 7 remake does have a chapter select option to help with going back and completing missed side quests, unfortunately it only unlocks once you’ve completed the main game so this won’t help anyone during there first playthrough. But that option is there for anyone who really wants it…eventually.

FYI regarding Shark Tank... Yes originally they gave up either 2% of profits or 5% of the company I think the numbers were just to appear on the show. However when Mark Cuban joined he told them he wouldn't come back the next season if they didn't remove it and they did. So the show no longer does that. He argued to them that they would not get as good of businesses showing up because no smart person would give up equity with no deal.

I've been playing Rise of the Ronin, it's a lot better than the reviews are saying. Try it out! The combat is super fun and addictive and the story is pretty fun. If you don't like hard games, Colin, i'd try it on the dawn difficulty, it's definitely not easy if you're not into slightly challenging games.

What Chris wants in FF7 is what Tales games give u, you can go strategies in combat, down to the characters what to do when, it's awesome. But it's not required to even beat the game at all tho unless you play on harder difficulties.
