Thank you! I've always felt that way, but everyone I've met in the UK have just been so nice, that I wasn't gonna throw it out there myself, 😅. Canada too. I abide by the "live and let live" mantra. But it's my personal opinion that there's just times when people need to be removed from regular society, due to their actions. Like, for real.

@@jamesmcguffey3569 The US criminal system is extremely harsh on criminals compared to nations like the UK, Japan, and Canada. The illusion that the US is soft on crime is just that, an illusion. That said, it’s cases like this one that make me think that’s not a bad thing.

As a Brit, I enjoy watching true US crime documentaries when they examine UK cases. The quality is variable, but this one stands out as Jiles, you have clearly done your homework. Some other interesting add-ons for you: - On the day the children died, Philpott was overheard in the hospital describing them as 'little sh*ts'. He also pretended to faint in the hospital but the ward manager concluded that he was just acting badly and that it was not a genuine faint. - He also smacked a nurse's bottom and jokingly made crude sexual references to his best friend (who at least had the decency to cry when all children were confirmed as dead). - Philpott and his wife had to be forced by the police to accompany their only surviving child to hospital as they were reluctant, choosing rather to discuss whether to have Chinese food for dinner. - They received monetary donations from all sections of the local community, including travellers, but when their deceit was discovered, the travelling community was not happy and Philpott apparently now has a target on his back. Friends, neighbours and local businesses donated clothing too, but apparently the brand names were not high enough for Philpott's exacting standards as he was heard complaining about them. - Two of his neighbours, the Butler brothers, attempted to rescue the children by climbing onto the caravan to smash the upstairs windows to reach their bedroom but the smoke repelled them. One of the brothers actually apologised to Philpott for failing to rescue them and both brothers are clearly traumatised by the events of that night. In TV interviews afterwards, when discussing this their anger when the truth emerged is palpable. - Not long after the children's deaths, he and his wife turned up wearing cowboy hats at a local pub's karaoke night, acting as if everything was normal, but had to leave when the crowd inside, already suspicious, became hostile. The apparent trigger for this was someone singing 'Suspicious Minds' by Elvis Presley. P.S. There is a legal restriction to the mistress's name, voice and image being shown publicly in the UK - not sure if it applies internationally though.

And the child turns to you and say's "my Father died after lying in a coma but before he died my Mother was helped by Doctors when it was discovered that my Father's sperm was still viable.... and through IVF she had me" I would love to see the expression on your face as the ignorant arrogance is slapped sideways right off you by the tears in that child's eyes. Seriously, I'll give you a heads up, Google "Humility" by Carl Sagan, it oughta help you gain some insight into exactly how inconsequential and shallow your revolting pride truly is. Your comment just pisses me off, go to an IVF clinic sometime and tell those heartbroken Women that their children are effectively produçts of hired ejaculations when the reality is that their pregnancy has only been made possible through successful extraction of viable sperm from Husband's who have passed away. Lose some weight, your inadequacies are showing.

Agreed! I was formerly in an abusive relationship myself, and so I have *every* imaginable bit of empathy for abused women. But when it comes to your kids? That's where the vast, vast majority of even the most abused partners will draw the line, even if it means risking their own lives; usually, no amount of abuse can remove the basic mammalian maternal instinct and motherly urge to protect one's children at all costs. So as much as I want to have sympathy for Mairead, I just can't- she seemingly cared less for her children than a crocodile, a scorpion, a hyena or an octopus cares for their young. So her actions weren't merely inhuman, they were downright unnatural! (Plus, her fellow "wife" was in the same situation and still took the leap to save herself and her children, so it's not as if Mairead couldn't have reached out for help as well.)

I thought of this because I was actually just talking with a veterinarian friend about how all mammals (and even a surprising amount of other animals from reptiles to fish to arachnids) have really surprisingly powerful maternal instincts. I was shocked to learn that even crocodiles care for their babies! So yeah, IMHO Mairead is less of a decent mother than a scorpion or crocodile! In fact, she's barely a mother at all IMHO...she's more like a fish or a turtle that just lays eggs and then takes off, leaving their babies to fend for themselves. (although even those fish or turtles don't actively kill their young, so she's even worse than that!!) 😡

I’m stuck in hospital at the moment and this is an intriguing way of passing the time and I’ve been on a Monsters binge, love the way he introduces the person and then simply explains their actions, instead of insulting them, he just lets their own actions show them as Monsters. Its part of the reason I think Jiles should be on television, he’s a natural presenter. I knew a lot of this case already, having watched several documentaries on it (it’s rly well known in the UK) I still was gripped by this coverage of it. Although it’s an unsolved arson, I’m convinced my mother had a lot to do with it. Unfortunately, it was a long time ago and it’s my word only. I have no evidence and none exists. So this story touched a nerve. It doesn’t help that English sentences are ridiculous. He should have got the death penalty or life without parole. His wife should have gotten the same. I can’t believe she only served 8 years and still shows no remorse. She has sympathy for herself only. English prisons are like holiday camps so I doubt He is suffering either.

@@Ghost80 Well, they all stink to some extent on various issues at various times: I'm not sure how long ago philpott got such a light sentence for what seemed pretty much like attempted murder of his ex and the attack on her mother, but can only hope it was years ago and that attitudes to male violence against women have changed since then. They certainly have in Australia, and not before time - still not perfect, but not as bad as they were as recently as the 1970's when cops would refuse to "get involved in domestic incidents".

The British Legal System for sentencing needs a serious overhaul. Every case I’ve watched with violent crimes, these monsters *literally* get away with murder. I watched another recently where the perpetrator pled to voluntary manslaughter after killing and dumping a woman and got like 5 years and was out in 3! Are the sentencing guidelines from the 1700s?? I just don’t understand. This guy NEVER should have been released after his first attempted murder convictions of TWO WOMEN! Jfc it’s infuriating. PS: Love the new intro here and face to a name, Jiles! Congrats on your upcoming move and I’ll def check out your vlog!

This is such a terribly tragic & sad case 😭 This Monster, in my opinion, is 1 of the ABSOLUTE WORST that I've seen in any True Crime case!!! Nothing that could/should be done to him, would EVER come close to the correct punishment that he so RICHLY DESERVES!!! I'm sure I'm not the only 1 who feels this way. Just makes my blood boil! Anyway, I apologize for the rant. Also, I've tried to picture what you looked like since I came across your channel. And honestly, I couldn't even begin to 😂 It's like that when Creators stay behind the scenes. So thank you for finally putting a face to the voice for my imagination 😊 And thank you for always creating such awesome content! I could honestly listen to your voice 24/7! Just saying lol. I sometimes binge watch your videos just because you're awesome & make your videos with respect. So thanks again & please NEVER stop creating for all of your True Crime family. Don't know what I'd do if you didn't keep telling me who the next Monster was. Even though I've heard this case done by another 1 of my favorite True Crime Creators, I'm eager to see/hear how you tell it 💜

As a Brit there a shocking cases that rock the psyche of the whole country, this is one of them. It was a cruel and sadistic crime. The one element of this brutal crime that hit hard for me was the teenage age son, he was more man than his rat father could ever dream to be, he tried to rescue his siblings and suffered for many days after in pure agony until he finally passed. He was such a strong, loving boy and when I heard the news that he didn’t make it after battling on I was so flipping angry. It’s a shame those beautiful babies had the misfortune of having those creatures has parents, they deserved so much more.
