This was my first Nakaya fountain pen, I've enjoyed owning it and exploring how the nib behaved in my usual handwriting style, how the shape and size of this fountain pen fit in my daily fountain pen rotation. Now I'm ready to pass the ownership of this Nakaya Piccolo Writer and get to be enjoyed by a lucky new owner. (This pen is sold already)

That urushi coating is just on point! That section grip shows the delicate and precise workmanship being worked on in the pen! Amazing!

To someone who is not that handy with English, it means a lot :D im constantly trying to improve my english with reading only in english and getting more used to speaking freely in front of the camera with no script no nothing

Well done review. Thanks. I just got into Urushi fountain pens. Having acquired a Pilot Custom Urushi in vermillion, and Wancher Dream Pen Zogan in aka-tamenuri, I was hooked and ordered a Nakaya Dorsal Fin V2 in Heki-tamenuri. So in about 6 to 8 months, I will be enjoying that one. I had no idea that there was a larger piccolo. Enjoy that lovely pen. Oh and the two-tone nib on that piccolo looks 😻 amazing

Love that Pilot Custom Urushi - ive seen a new one green, very sweet :D Heki tamenuri is on my next list to get pen in that finish :D i think a DF 1 can make justice to that color. Im not probably the biggest fan of two tone, but on Nakaya it looks so cool

Beautiful Pen. I own a decapod twist with a soft medium nib. The feed and converter are from Platinum. Very good converters. Same feed is on the 3776. BTW: Kuro cha means “black tea.”

Hey Paul , I think Platinum is a sub brand of Nakaya, like a more inexpensive taste of nakaya. Like Namiki is a upper brand of pilot kind of. Thanks for the translation - now it makes sense

As I understand it, Nakayas are overhauled Platinum pens. They are based on the 3776 nib and feed system, but nibs are adjusted by hand and bodies are made by hand. The owners of Nakaya are retired Platinum employees.

I always thought that Platinum is the sub brand of Nakaya and not like you said, im happy to learn new things :D I appreciate the lesson and ill be sure to mention this in my coming reviews on Nakaya

I LOVE Japanese pens, especially the way they write. I have a Sailor KOP, a Pilot Custom Urushi and I am waiting for my Namiki Yukari Royale. About this pen: I suppose - because the feed and the converter are from Platinum - could it also be, that the nib was made by Platinum? This is an excellent time to buy Japanese pens because the Yen has lost a lot of value. What I especially like about these pens is their simplicity and timeless elegance. We have, of course, all the Maki-E pens, which also possess another kind of beauty, most of them are just too much for me. 😃 THANK YOU VERY MUCH for this video! Wish you a successful week!

same here - I just love Japanese pens :D Im planning to get a sailor pro gear demo sometime this year :D I think the nib is also from Platinum but is stamped different, considering that the nib sizes are dead on the same as Platinum - I has to be the same nib :D There is beauty in simplicity and Japanese pens confirms just that :D

As far as I know, the company (Sailor) which is attached to a very iconical place, Hiroshima, has its own place at Kure, a suburb, that survived the attack on the city, because it is located behind some low mountains at the sea. There we find the factory that produces all the writing instruments they sell, including, of course, their nibs.

Congratulations on buying this beautiful Nakaya. Surprisingly the Soft Fine nib seems quite juicy and wet. Is there good amount of feedback Emy?

Thank you K - i had to do with that wet flow :D i did some tweaking and made it slightly wet so like this it hides the ugly side of feedback and makes it sound like a nice pencil :D
