@@zdvxr it wouldn't be that bad. Think Samuel L Jackson in Captain Marvel. Removing a couple wrinkles and tightening up the skin a bit post-production wouldn't have been too aggressive of a change. It was definitely jarring to see Padawan Anakin with a 40 year old man's face.

My god, Vader going full rage mode on the ship at the end was an incredible moment. I don't think we've ever seen anyone use the Force in such an explicitly powerful way in any of the movies. It really shows the true power of Vader and his anger at this point

Continuity matters. Having Hayden appear 17 years older is worse than using cutting-edge special effects to keep him visually in-line with how he previously looked. We're not talking about reconstucting someone with CGI here, we're talking about smoothing out some literal wrinkles for visual continuity and maximum verisamilitude. I AM fine with how he appears here, I'm just sick of the anti-CGI bullhonkey. >:0

Reva saber isn't broken in half. The Inquisitor's sabers can split creating two blades then reconnect forming the standard double blade.

I don’t think they needed to de-age them…Hayden didn’t look that much older. He still looks young and when he asked Obi if he was ready when they were dueling, you could see how much he was enjoying being back in Star Wars. That made me happy to see that.

I think they'd rather just rely on Hayden's performance than have a weird uncanny valley de-aged effect. They probably don't have the budget to do the same level of effect as Nick Fury in Captain Marvel.

@@peterlenham3180 of course they have the budget, but if hayden's only going to be onscreen for 2 minutes it's really not worth the money, plus possible pushback if the de-aging looks uncanny. If you want an example, look at how people reacted to CGI Leia in Rogue One or deepfake Luke Skywalker.

Did you guys mot see the connection of the final flashback and how Kenobi and the others escaped Vader? In the flashback Kenobi says "your need for victory Anikan, it blinds you", thats why he was "blind" in seeing the escape plan of using a diversion ship.

But Ben ALSO underestimated Vader and Ben VERY MUCH ACTED LIKE A SITH to manipulate and abandon Reva so he can escape. Vader saw it coming from a mile away.

I thought it was implied that Reva survived the initial stabbing the same way the Grand Inquisitor did, basically tapping into the dark side like Maul and forcing themselves to live.

I feel like Vador not using his light saver on Reva, was to mirror Obi-Wan defeating Anakin without his own lightsaber. Thus still learning from Obi-Wan and becoming a master of his teachings by the end of the series.

1 - Vader didn’t even think Reva was even worth drawing his own saber. 2 - I don’t care about the de-aging stuff honestly. I almost think about it as how different each character looks through the movies, CW animation, Rebels… different artistic takes, but still the same constant character.

It seems that Reva is still alive at the end, otherwise how would the knowledge of Tatooine and the Owen farm get utilized? And so, it seems that a lightsaber thrust through the abdomen is not fatal after all. Someone should have told Qui Gon Jinn....

One thing I love is that, maybe it's just me, I see pain in Anakin's face in that close up. He is committed to do what he must to protect what he loves, even if it makes him sick, which explains the younglings haunting his thoughts when he killed the sepratists.

I love this episode, Best one yet. Love seeing the Anakin and Obi flashbacks. Love seeing Vader in his prime being a total boss (I just a want a Vader movie please). I can't wait for the finale. I hope we get Kenobi Vs Vader Final Duel, Jin as a Force Ghost, Yoda in flashbacks with Kenobi, Ahsoka Clone Wars flashbacks with Anakin and Kenobi, The Emperor telling Vader to stop with Kenobi for bigger matters, Cad Bane on his way to capture Luke and a Battle with Kenobi.

@@Scorpy666 because there is an argument to be made that Anakin pre-mustafar was coasting on overwhelming power with no precision, but afterwards he had to relearn everything but this time missing a significant amount of power. Leading to him focusing his still-quite-impressive power through a lens, he is more powerful now because instead of a river rapids of power it’s now a water jet cutter

I love how Anakins 3 overhead strikes was exactly how Luke's rage strikes was when he beat him, the easter eggs was insane in this episode, even the Starkiller moment with Vader pulling the aircraft down to the ground, hell the other episode where Obi-Wan was in the dark saving Leia was exactly the Starkiller scene in his trailer

Surprised you didn't mention the single line that closed the plot hole in episode 4. When Vader says ' The last time we met I was the learner but now I am the master" he's being sarcastic, referencing Obi Wans claim that until he can control his emotions, he'll always be a Padawan ...

My wish is that this series serves as a prequel to a Vader series (2-3 seasons). We got 4-5 years between now and Rebels that could expand the fact that Jabiim and The Path are now known. Give me a couple of seasons of Vader and the Inquisitorous tracking down those Jedi or Force-sensitives who were ferried to safety. You could sprinkle cameos of Kenobi on Tatooine learning from Qui-Gon, Maul leaving Crimson Dawn heading to Malachor, Andor, Saw, Bail and Mon Mothma, hell - even an Ackbar or other prelude story. Maybe even Vader meeting Thrawn to tie into Ahsoka; Fett doing his thing and why Vader says "No disintegrations." So much potential here. The first 6 movies were all about Anakin to Vader redeemed back to Anakin. Expand on that character and let's see some more of him being bad ass!

I think they have set it up pretty well for the rematch between Vader and Kenobi to be on Vader's ship, the said the hyperdrive on the transport is not working and Vader is right behind them, also I think they may be setting up a second season with Reva going after Luke on Tatooine so that might be how we can get more Kenobi and still have him being a hermit looking after Luke. also I think the final shot of the series might be Kenobi back in his cave talking with Jedi ghost Qui-Gon

I keep hearing in these videos how do they survive. a Light Saber but cuts and then cauterize the body. so you won't have major blood loss but it's tramitic enough that you could go into shock or for a body blow you might cut off the blood flow to something important.

Surprised you both want the helicopter scene. I'm a massive fan of Rebels but never liked the helicopter thing. Spinning doesn't give helicopters lift, the shape of the blades does. It doesn't make sense but more to the point it looks really silly 😂😭

I would think the final interaction between Vader and Obi-Wan will come as part of his ship being basically on a course to overtake them. The Path's ship has no hyper-drive, so I think there is at least a chance for them to be captured.

wait something CRAZY i just noticed when the younglings were getting killed during order 66: the perspective was switching to the younglings who were knocked down. was Reva tapping into their perspectives while they were dying???

They definitely did a fair bit of smoothing. But left alone that bit of extra fleshiness ones develops on the face as one approaches middle age. Which was fine.

I think the reason Hayden was not completely de-aged is because as he turns more and more to the dark side he looks older in a worn way and when he is dueling with Obi Wan on Mustafar Anakin really looks much older than he actually is. I don't know what causes it but I've seen reviews on Episode 5 and Hayden's de-aging looks done more in some of them.
