Id argue that Jeffree made TikTok a worse place. I had never gotten e-begging lives in my feed until Jeffree started doing his racket. When I saw people on TT live, it was because they were doing some form of content. Not just playing this addictive merry-go-round of live begging. The fact that TikTok had game-ified begging for money is sickening.

I watched for a minute last night. People were calling her out about e-begging and asking her if she ever gives back. She refused to reply to them. But kept calling people haters and accused them of making up drama. One thing I noticed was there were more than a few men complimenting her and telling us not to bully her. It's surreal watching all of this go down.

I'm a disabled woman who can't easily keave my home so I often use the Internet for my social needs. Well, I've fallen into less than ideal communities online because I've felt accepted. I even got involved in a cult online that impacted my real life offline. There are people out here who are vulnerable to these things. Think about how you felt during lockdown/isolation and make that your entire life. I actually liked all the online interactions during lockdown. It made me feel as if the things I always desired were finally possible. But, they're not as prevalent anymore, unfortunately.

Comms expert here - the digital media age has literally changed the way we interact socially with people. Before we HAD to be out in physical communities (or have them come to us) to survive - jobs, food, education etc. In those communities there is more pull to conform to certain behaviours too, it might be attending churches or confirming to certain stereotypes or roles but it acts as a kind of censor on behaviours or traits that the community view in a negative way which makes it harder for the person to break free of conforming to those things. The digital age lacks that kind of external community push to conform, because you technically don't need them to survive. Pastor Peter doesn't need to show up at your door to bring you food if you can't go out to get it, Paul from Doordash will - and you don't even need to talk to him 🤷🏽‍♀️ AND... the digital age also has pockets of communities etc that support those behaviours, with instant access to them, and block buttons. So if you're susceptible to certain things, it is very easy to get influenced and pulled into those communities that go against the grain and who can and do protect themselves at all costs. Pandemic definitely made it worse too 🖤
