At first sight, it looks as if the heavy traffic and road works have messed up the result, but I think this is just the reality. This real-world situation is more valid for most people than just going back and forth at constant speed on empty roads. In fact, it is really good that Bjørn always does both: A road trip test like this, and the 1000 km challenge under (mostly) optimal conditions. We can see, that there can be quite a difference...

Speedometers are usually not showing correct speed. When my Subaru speedometer show's 70km/h I got 64km/h on radar and gps.

Omg Clive , I think I’ve seen some comment from you on every ev video I’ve watched … many of them from kris and bjorn videos :) Quite the enthusiast 😉 Still after 1-2 months now reading and following these videos I am still in anxiety of which car I should buy for me and my family. We’ll see how it ends… m3 sr plus/ or maybe a used m3 LR or id4….or maybe also the ps2 I still can’t find a range test between these cars at highway at speed of 110-120kmph. Is there a big difference between them (except for the LR)? What is appealing is the infotainment in the Tesla but of course the build of the car and comfort are more important than that(if the others have that). Which would you pick? I live in Sweden, so we have mostly between +2 - -10 degrees C during winter.

@@AzizIzgin I have a Model 3 LR 2019 and I’m so happy with it. Yes, my bonnet is not quite flush but that gives it character. Otherwise I prefer it over any other car I’ve owned. I think either Tesla would be great cars to own. Neither will disappoint. I chose the Tesla partly because of the Supercharger network which gives peace of mind when going further afield from home. The Id software doesn’t get good reviews. The Polestar is a nice car.

Thanks Bjorn! Watching this makes me lean even more towards a Tesla SR/SR+. So much less expensive and also better tech. Hopefully the Model Y LFP SR will be available here soon. Autopilot (at least in the US) is a huge plus.

This was awesome 👌 If Tesla put the premium audio system in the Model 3 Standard Range I would get it. They're now offering the LFP version here in the US. It's nice to see that version, the SR, be able to do those distances. The charging network sure did help though. But since they're not putting the premium sound system in the SR I have to go with either the Model 3 LR or the Model Y LR.

Thank you for the interesting video Björn. My summary: cars are very close and difference does not matter. Therefore I believe that driving comfort and safety featues will make the difference more than getting to the destination 10 minutes faster... Just for me the difference in consumption would also not matter as even there absolute numbers are not drastically apart from each other. I would love to get a statement on riding comfort, etc.

@@rogerstarkey5390 Less luxurious, noisier, slower and less comfy. Of course it pumps less energy than a sports car and a much bigger SUV. In other news, Dacia Logan has better fuel economy than Hummer and Ferrari.

(35:41) At that point, and after thinking of a clip I saw of some people riding motorcycles from Singapore to the UK, I now imagine driving all the way from Singapore to Norway to meet Bjørn and attempt the Arctic circle challenge together, maybe the 1000 km challenge too, except I'd have the added difficulty of driving a right-hand drive car in a left-hand drive country. (then after that, maybe end up meeting Jens K Styve, the only other person I associate with Norway, and then go on to the UK) Yeah. Driving roughly 16,000 km to go and eat pizza at a convenience store, that would be an incredibly weird experience. (Disclaimer: in real life, I can't drive due to certain disabilities I have)

Did it precondition before first stop at 6:52 because the heatpump pulled heat out of the battery? The almost 300km should have been enough to heat the battery up, before arriving at the charger.

I can't understand why the parking space is so small 2021 when the cars grow bigger.. Like the MS, hope they have Summon.. But I hate door dents from people that can't hold the door. U got in on tape but the damage is already done. And new paint isn't good and the time to fix it.. When u park in all these locations, do u get dörruppslag Björn 😁 ?

Pawel was cheating a little bit. He was driving at 100km/h in a 80km/h zone 🤔 That Taycan in green looks gorgeous even on 19" wheels. I wouldn't mind to arrive 5 hours late in a 2000km road trip if I am sat in a Taycan ;).

But if the Mach E had gone faster, it would have lost more of its range and had to spend more time on the slower charging. Since the Taycan charges so fast, that's less of an issue and is also more efficient at high speed with lower drag and a far more powerful motor. You have to use the advantages the car affords you...

I find it interesting that the other two left the infotainment UI language set to Norwegian, while you're the only one who changed it to English, which makes me wonder if their native language is Norwegian. Edit: in the case of Kris, yes, the infotainment UI language was set to English, but the UI language on his phone was set to Norwegian

Not really. Porsche can charge at Ionity at *lower* price than Tesla at supercharger.

No, because he chose speed over efficiency and it balances out, actually more in his favor. It's not the Taycan's fault that it can go faster more efficiently than the other cars, especially the Mach E. And who ever goes just the speed limit in a Porsche?

@@OlJackBurton it’s not a case of capability, Björn detailed the “rules” of the race at the outset stating maximum 10% over speed limit. All three vehicles are more than capable of exceeding the speed limit but that is not the point. Same as an F1 car in the pit lane…..

@@reindrescher9092 In a real world "race", the rules are just a suggestion. Everyone had the same opportunities to "cheat". In the US, people routinely go 30km over the limit with no legal penalties. 20km over is nothing. If the other 2 wanted to go 20km over, they could have. But 20km over for the entire 1,000km will greatly reduce range, which means the least for the Taycan with its slippery drag coefficient, fastest charging and powerful motor (higher speed reduces range less in the Taycan). What's the purpose of a race if you can't use the advantages the car affords you? F1 is not the reaI world. It's on a track and all the cars racing are mechanically very similar, where the driver makes by far the greatest difference. In the real world in real life situations, the Taycan would come out ahead...

@@bjornnyland Thanks, though already saw that one. I am writing as I just finish my summer vacation and made about 3500km in total. The longest strech was 950km. On thag stretch, a part was on German autobahn, and there we could drive at high speed. We stopped once, but there was no need to refuel. We did refuel only as gas was cheaper than elsewhere. So, my question is, what happens when you drive at high speed, how much more consumation goes up?
