Recap of the first 7 days. Let me know please if you like videos in that format, meaning a shorter video more frequently or a longer video less frequently. I am also on IG at ‘CountryLivingInFrenchChateau’ with the same photo. Still battling a jet lag so posts are pretty frequent :)
Hope you enjoyed the video!
Next week I will take you to a brocante market, French fries festival, I will also walk around the newly renovated apartment that we are just finishing up.
Merci! ❤️ #castle #movingtofrance #loirevalley #renovation #saumur #vlog #19thcentury #chateaux #countryside #chateaudiy #village #adventure

Bonjour. You are incredibly fortunate to have a crow as guardian of your home. Crows and ravens have the ability to recognise individual faces and are so in tune with their family (that is you by the way) that they will alert you to people with bad intentions by squawking. Crows shows they feel comfortable around you by following you and hovering or perching near you. It is a rare gift to be adopted by a crow. I hope you feed your new friend. They eat fruit and nuts, insects, worms, mice, eggs, grains, and fresh meat. They also like both dry dog and cat food. To show their appreciation of you, they will bring you small gifts. These gifts are usually found items such as metallic items, plastic pieces, broken wire, tops of pens etc. Their favourite colour is blue.

I had no clue! We were there yesterday and the crow was not there. If we ever meet it again, we will take care of it.

The crow has obviously been a pet. It could become a great addition to your pet family, or a start. It will basically look after itself, it just wants company.

Great to see you back. These early days must be hard for you - awaiting your belongings and not really into the chateau yet. All the same you sound grateful to have arrived and the kids look excited. I've seen crows that were like that, but they were harmless. Its the ones who have nests and swoop down at your head in an effort to protect their young. Looking forward to more. From Vancouver 👋

Consider taking on the big expense of solar powered electricity. France, like the US, grants credits for power you generate and send back to the grid. With a big enough solar panel field (presuming you have lots of acres) you could heat and air condition the whole chateau and never have a monthly bill. Worth at least having someone come out and price the system for you at the beginning.

Hello and welcome back to France 🙂 If I may, don't have to high expectations on village flea market, especially if you want to refurnish a château : you will rarely find furnitures that fit with your home, and will be disappointed (except for the copper saucepans). You'd better take your time to look for regular "brocantes" and "Antiques" in your area 😉 By the way, I saw your "short" and I totally agree with you about this mint green in the "vestibule" ! Very… flashy ! 😂

Totally agree! Just realized that unfortunately. There are a couple of brocante in our village, seem to be always closed, but I will try to make my way there. And yes, that green is going away soon! :)

@@countrylivinginfrenchchate2676 This green tends to prove that the last owner of the château lived either in the 70s, or was a bit psychedelic, maybe both 😂 You probably don't remember me, but we had a chat some months ago (about your boys and the horses, about Saumur as the French capital of horse riding, about gold leaf, about the coats of arms and the family related to them in your château 🙂). I understand that you are here for good now. So the warmest welcome for all of you ! Your place is very beautiful. I hope you'll find what you need for refurnishing. The main obstacle will obviously be the language, each time you will look for informations. I really hope you'll find some people in your neighbourhood who can help you if ever you have questions !

Is it a crow or a raven? Ravens are highly intelligent and can be trained to take food and be friendly.

According to its look, I would say it is a rook (rooks are ravens). In French : "Corbeau freux", or even simpler "Freux".
