Can we all just take a moment and observe how awesome the first minutes of the episode plays out. Not a single word is spoken but we can see so much about what the characters have gone through since the end of Season 2. We can see that a significant amount of time has passed which is 8 months given the way the characters have grown and facial hair (Hershel) They have gotten a lot more experience and are working together as a great team We can tell by how well organized search of the house is done by all. They have bonded and are growing closer to each other Great scene and great job by the actors conveying all of this.

The beginning of the show was in late spring/ early summer, they were always sweaty and gross up till the end of season 2. They started dressing warmer, wearing coats, and Hershel brought them into the house too. Plus seasons 1 and 2 were only like a month total so Loris pregnancy is a good way to keep track of the timeline. So it's been around 9 months since the outbreak, she got pregnant pretty much at the start of the apocalypse by my estimate. In Season 1 and Season 2 Carl was 12 years old and In Season 3 He’s 13 years old. This episode takes place over days 295 - 297 after the Zombie Apocalypse began. The Season 2 finale happened on Day 83 after the Zombie Apocalypse began so there is a time jump of 212 Days (7 months and 2 days) between 2x13 and 3x01 which is nearly 8 months. Rick’s been awake from his coma for 238 (7 months and 28 days) days now so it’s been a time jump. He woke up on Day 59 which is about 2 months.

Yes, Lori did have a large part in Shane’s crazy. She would give that man hope and he saw that as her wanting to be with him. So he tried to take Rick out to have her. I think they was on the road 8 months so Lori was probably a month and a half when she found out she’s pregnant, which is true to life bcuz babies are so comfortable in the womb they don’t want to come out so they’re over due. It was early fall when they ran from the farm and fled with the clothes on their backs. Carl said he was cold, and Rick took his jacket off for Carl when he told them what Jenner said. Lori was pregnant about 2-3 months because she was getting nauseated from smelling cooked meat. Remember Carl needed time to heal from major surgery. 3 months to be generous about early October in Georgia. I would guess they are at the prison in March.

Lori wasn’t two months pregnant on the farm. She got pregnant the day she was with Shane in the woods/the night she and Rick reunited. I’ve read that the time jump was 8 months. Which makes sense because she would’ve been a month pregnant on the farm (about when women usually find out) and then that makes her 9 months pregnant here, where the baby is due in a few days!

I think after Lori's initial anger and "leave my family alone", she realized that any one of them could die at any time. In her mind, she was gonna need either Shane or Rick to protect her. She kept Shane hanging on just enough. She pitted Rick and Shane against each other just enough. If one died, she'd have the other one. That said, in the flashback at the school she questioned if she was still in love with Rick. I think she loved Rick, but I think she was IN love with Shane. I think she thought that if it came down to it, Shane would kill Rick. Her voice would be made for her, more or less. Flash forward to Rick telling her he killed Shane and why. That look on her face was the realization that she was wrong, Rick won and Shane was gone. Her face said it all and Rick read it very clearly. I don't blame him for being ice cold to her. Enough is enough. She gave Andrea $hit for "sitting on the RV working on her tan" when all she did was run around playing high school love triangle. I absolutely love y'all's reactions!
