Sidney looking at the open door was Symbolism. Partly to show that she was finally at peace & didn’t have to fear for her life anymore. Scream 3 was meant to be the final film. The open door was also to represent that the story could always continue if they wanted to revisit it.

Dewey IS always falling and rolling. And Gale is always getting shot in the final act or otherwise out of commission/hanging out until the story is over. They were made for each other. 😅😊

Angelina was originally the second Ghostface, but it was changed to just one killer, although some of the scenes that implied two killers were kept in the movie.

I will always defend this movie against anyone. This was my first scream movie and was the reason I’m a huge scream fan today. I find this the most rewatchable and entertaining of the franchise especially cause of Parker Posley as Jennifer. I like the voice changer too cause it’s different and there was a deleted scene that wasn’t officially shown but a leaker showed clips of ghostface acquiring the voices of everyone through voice files but it didn’t show that so it was somewhat unrealistic. I also love Roman considering he was a solo ghostface which shows how effective he is as a killer since he didn’t need anyone’s help. Love how they tackled Sidney’s psyche at this point of losing sm by this point in time and how she’s still not coped with it but after this finale of what originally was a trilogy she’s no longer afraid.

Bro the house blowing up sent me! This is the weakest of the Scream movies so if you liked 3 you’ll love 4 and 5! I can’t WAIT for you to watch Scream 4!

Also idk if anyone mentioned this but this movie was heavily censored because it was shot around the columbine shooting so violence in movies wasn’t exactly a good thing and the studios told Wes to not have any blood in this movie but he managed to get away with having some blood in this movie but sadly it’s the most tame of the franchise but what it made up with creative sequences like Sarah Darlings death sequence I love it how ghostface hides in the costumes and she tries to defend herself with props. It’s also the only time ghostface takes on a group of people/uses a new weapon which was a pan to kill the bodyguard/ actually starts using his hands to punch people.

I'm so happy to see this. Fun fact about Gale's bangs... Someone cut the wig without it being on Courtney's head and it was cut too short 🤣🤣🤣 I really loved Parker Posey. So funny and extra 🤣😂🤣 I can't wait for nr 4. It's a hectic movie!!!

If you didnt catch it, Sarah Darling is meant to reference Sarah MIchelle Gellar because Wes Craven used to call her Sarah Darling. The clothes are similar to her Scream 2 character. And Tom Prinze is a reference to Freddie Prinze Jr whom she was dating at the time. And like people mentioned, Angelina was meant to be the second killer but they changed it. Some people still think she was a part of it and her death was faked like Roman faked his own. In the official Scream 3 list of victims at the time Angelina wasn't listed as dead. So the conspiracy theories started there lol.

"Sidney's good! Sidney's good! .........Sidney might not be good. Sidney might be dead." That cracked me up. Perfect summarization of that scene lmao. That scream of pain from Roman when Sidney stabs him with the ice pick is 100% real - Neve missed her mark and ended up actually stabbing Scott Foley! When I found that out, I was like, "Girl, Neve, you've got to work on your aim because you did that to Skeet in the first one too." I can't wait for your Scream 4 & 5 reactions!

As much as I love Scream 4 (even more than this one to be honest), I really wish this would've been the end of Sidney's story. She had never been able to live her life being able to trust ANYBODY who has crossed her path. The moment she seems to have found peace and people to keep close, she either looses them to the killer or they turn out to be a killer. Really, the only ones with a solid presence in her life had been Gale and Dewey. With this ending, specifically symbolized by the final shot, she's learned to not allow fear to control her life. She won't let it determine how she lives. She won't let it define her character. I know the fans love her (myself included) but it's getting old with people wanting MORE Scream movies while demanding her to be in every single one, saying things like, "If Sidney's not in it, then it's not a Scream movie." I understand how powerful Sidney is as a character, but it blows my mind how people really just want to see her suffer. Even if that's not what they're asking for, that's what they're going to get.

The door opening by itself was literally leaving the 'door' open for a sequel.

This movie suffered from so many rewrites, a real life tragedy that forced the gore to be toned down and left the comedy shinning through a bit too much. Still, if that’s the weaker movie of your franchise, you have a goddamn good franchise ♥️

I like that Sydney and Roman even though they never met prior essentially had a sibling fight before going to physically fight.

I love the whole scene between Roman and Sidney. You can really feel that sibling vibe between the arguing back and forth and the fighting. One of the things that I love about Sidney is she doesn't care who you are she's not afraid to talk shit back to them and can be savage lol (except for Randy he did that and got killed for shit talking on Billy with Ms. Loomis). She is mostly the one who doesn't beg for her life and actually fights back with balls (well, Gale and Dewey did a little bit in the 3rd and 5th). The ending, though between Roman and Sidney, when they held each other's hand that right there is my all-time favorite moment between a hero/vilian, it felt so bittersweet between them both. Like you can see, she feels for him cause he was rejected by their mother, but at the same time, it's about survival and doing what she has to do to survive. For him it's he always wanted a family but got rejected by his birth mother, and then the jealousy took over. Also, it didn't help with it being his 30th birthday and became a trigger that made him snap and went after Sidney. - So, the original plan was Roman was just going to be the puppet master staying behind the curtain kind of thing and set it up to where Billy and his accomplice which ended up being Stu to ONLY go after Maureen Prescott. But after they killed her, they got a taste for it and decided to continue on for themselves with Sidney and their peers. Scream 2 was a domino effect. It was just about revenge for Ms. Loomis and just hired Mickey as her lackey. Then Scream 3, it coming into his 30th birthday a reminder of being abandoned by his own mom and directing a movie about Sidneys life, it was Iike a mental trigger for him. He ended up going after her due to the jealousy of their mom only wanting Sidney and wanting nothing to do with him. Maureen even tried to convince him that his mom, "Rina Reynolds," was dead, so it struck a nerve, and that's exactly what he did. ( Roman : And once I supplied the motivation... all the kid needed was a few pointers. Have a partner to sell out in case he got caught (Stu), find someone to frame (Cotton), it was like he was making a movie. Sidney : You... this is all because of you. Roman : I'm a director, Sid, I direct. Sidney : Ah. Roman : I had no idea that they were gonna make a film of their own (Billy and Stu creating the image of Ghostface on their own to continue on with their killing). I mean, intoducing Sidney, the victim, Sidney the survivor, SIDNEY THE STAR! )

Also, one thing to keep in mind before watching Scream 4. It was soooo ahead of its time. Twitter had just started being a thing and I think Instagram didn't even exist.

I'm glad that you liked the voice changer. I don't know why so many people think the voice changer was so unbelievable.. Roman was a music video and movie DIRECTOR IN HOLLYWOOD. He could have easily gotten it from somewhere in the industry OR could have paid some tech genius to make him a personalized voice changer. Then, with collecting the voices to be able to use. Cotton has his own tv show, Gale is a reporter, Dewey worked onset with him, He probably looked into the stuff that Maureen (Rina Reynolds) was in to get hers, and then got Sidneys voice from the first time he called her when he used her mothers voice. It was one of the smartest plays on here. It really made you think.. are you really talking to that person, or is it ghostface masking behind their voices. Like when Roman called Sarah, it was like hiding in plain sight. We didn't know if it actually was him or someone else. He used Sidneys voice to lure Dewey and Gale to the mansion. So he could turn around to use them as bait to lure Sidney to him away from the cops. I knew right away it wasn't actually Sid. The caller, when talking to Dewey the caller mentioned being protected by the LAPD at the end of it the caller had a like a little chuckle when talking about the cops. Then the caller cut Dewey off and hung up on him. Sidney would never do that to Dewey.

Roman the brother of Sidney in the movie the actor accidentally got stabbed by her in the skin were they had to go to the hospital because she missed a safety pad

Love this reaction!!!! To be fair, you cant't truly be expected to guess Roman is Sidney's half brother ( much like most wouldnt guess the Billy's mom twist in the second film). However, there are a few clues. More than once it is mentioned that Maureen's time in Hollywood was about 30 years ago. There's the traumatic conversation with Milton about Maureen being "taken advantage of" by several men at one of his parties. Plus, Roman makes a big deal about turing 30. Also, fun fact, Roman flaunts Randy's rules by saying "I'll be right back" much like Stu (one of the killers) does in the first movie.

The one HUGE mistake this movie made was to tell us the Sidney had a brother during the killer reveal. I feel like Kincaid should have found out that Sidney had a sibling (no specific gender to widen the pool of suspects) and then part of the mystery would be figuring out who her sibling could be. That way the reveal wouldn't be as out of left field as it is. Now we can shit on this all we want but this third act fight between Sidney and Roman is amazing.

I really love this one. It's darker and very personal as all trilogy should be. I love the Hollywood meta commentary that's still very horribly real TODAY. And I think Roman was a cool killer and my personal favorite.

They added in the proposal at the end because that was the same year Courtney Cox and David Arquette got married in real life. Their love story literally follows the Scream franchise lol. They met during Scream, Started dating while making Scream 2, got married same time as Scream 3, Still married for the 4th. It was sometime after Scream 4 when they got separated and divorced. But, they still remain as good friends and good co-parents to their daughter.

I like this one more than Scream 4. Parker Posey as Jennifer was so good : D and I love how dramatic & Emotional it was at the end. The whole third act was great. But yeah its sad that the kills were so lame. In the original script Stu would have survived, he would have been the Mastermind of a Ghostface cult. ^^

Courtney Cox and David Arquette also got married around the time of this movie. Their real life relationship mirrors Gale and Dewey's relationship.

The reason why they ended the movie with Dewey asking Gale in marriage is to tie all the stories as they really thought Scream 3 would be the last movie of the franchise. All 3 movies had everything to do with Sidney's mom and her "promiscuous" past. It was explained in 3, Dewey and Gale knowing they loved each other no matter what was a nice way to make sure they had an happy ending in case they wouldnt return. (The actors David Arquette and Courteney Cox were married in real life which makes the scene even more cute). The ending with Sidney letting the door open was a metaphor and also a literally open door for a sequel lol

Many people rate this movie low due to the fact that the twist with the brother is taken from nowhere. But you also forget that in one of your favorite parts of Scream 2, it was the same with Billy's mom. Came from nowhere. Anyway, scream 3 is my favorite part. It's true that any character could be made Sidney's brother. But I want to give credits for Roman being a solo killer and having the highest kill count. Faking his own death was pretty cool. Also he is the main one who started all these murders. Not Billy. It's a pity many don't give Roman enough credits. If he would kill Dewey and Gale and then called Sidney using their voices in voice changer, he could get away with it. He is so underrated.

The had to turn down the gore in this one aswell as rewrite a lot of the film because of a mass shooting. Angelina was originally the 2nd killer and possibly still was in the final cut when you realise just how fast Roman seems to move around.

I really liked the twist in this one as we got to see more about Maureen Prescott. In my mind, Roman was the mastermind of the whole scream franchise, he acted alone and the killings started because of him influencing Billy. This movie was more comical compared to the rest but still enjoyable.

I'm glad you enjoyed scream 3, it's not my favorite at all but I don't hate it. I think the next one makes up for this one in my opinion. I agree about their not being any clues that the killer would be her brother and that's why it doesn't make much sense, however I do know that every scream movie has a ending leak so there is always a rewrite. If I remember correctly he wasn't the original killer or at least not the only killer.

The voice changer in Scream 3 is generally disliked because it's non existing technology, especially for the time. And Scream is mostly based in reality. So most people hate it. I honestly don't mind it in this movie but I wouldn't want to see it again.

Old reaction now but Jay and Silent Bob would've been on set because Strikes Back is all based around Miramax studios, the one that creates Scream (And Stab), and Scream 3 & J&SB Strike Back would have been filming around the same time. There's even a massive Scream reference in J&SB Strike Back.

Oh I dont know if someone told you but when Roman get stabbed with the icepick, the reaction of the actor was real because the prop got stuck and Neve actually wounded the actor aha, it happened more often than not where Neve hurt another actor in the movie. In the first one it was Skeet (Billy) with the umbrella, in the 2nd one idk if something happen, in the third one it was the icepick, in 4 she actually smashed the photo frame in the actor's face, in 5 i dont think something happened since she wasnt really in the movie...

Original script was Stu was the mastermind from jail two of his fans killing ppl. But columbine shootings happened so they had to change it. To Roman half brother and Angelina but then they just changed it to Roman. But that’s why 3/4 of movie feels like it’s 2 killers because that was the plan till last minute script change. Also in scream 2 Derek the bf and hallie were the killers with mrs loomis script got leaked so they changed it to Mickey and mrs loomis

Violence and gore was toned down due to the Columbine shooting, they only used 10 gallons of blood vs 50 in the first one and 30 in the second one, they wanted to make it completely bloodless but Wes Craven refused, the overall plot was changed as well.

Scream 3 gets a lot of hate, but true fans of the series love it for what it is. Not sure if another commenter mentioned this, but there’s a deleted scene where it shows Ghostface’s gloved hands using a computer to create the different voices in his changer from misc media clips. It was short, and really would helped make this idea seem more realistic if they’d have kept it in.

There's a theory that there were two killers in this one with a victim being a secret killer.

They actually tell you how Dewey survived Scream 2. If you listen closely, One of the EMTs loading Dewey in the ambulance says the killer hit him in his scar tissue from the first movie and it saved his life. Something I did not hear my first viewing haha

Some fun facts for you. Fact 1: Sarah's character and the outfit she wore when she died was purposely made by Wes to make fun of Sarah Michelle Gellar from Scream 2. I guess him and SMG didn't really get along. Sarah Darling was only in two scenes and dressed similar like CiCi in Scream 2. Fact 2: Originally it was only going to be a trilogy that's why Randy was giving the rules of a trilogy cause that's what it was. The ending with leaving the door open was a symbolism how now she feels at peace and how she can finally live her life. Scream 4 and so on didn't come into picture till years down the line when all of the other movies/TV shows were making remakes. So of course they had to poke fun with it lol. Fact 3: Wes did the Cameo video with Randy because he regretted for killing him off so early and for the back lash he got from the fans lol. That's why Tyson made that little comment about how "the killer was probably some pissed off fan that Randy was killed in Stab 2" lol. Fact 4: The original script was going to be Stu coming back that he survived the tv and had been in prison and orchestrated a cult to go after Sidney. Roman the half brother story was literally the last minute change. Just before they started filming the 3rd the Columbine shooting massacre happened and it hit to close to home so they were forced to scrap that storyline because of it and that's why the kills weren't that extreme as the other movies. It was a rough time when that happened for the tv shows/horror cinema. So they changed it to Roman and Angelina as the killers where Angelina went to high-school with Sidney. But they had to change it again during filming and left it only being Roman as the solo killer. That's why in some scenes Angelina was really sketchy. So for the 3rd it was a solo killer. Fact 5: In the movie they brought up a lot on how scripts kept getting changed for Stab 3. Well they where also making fun of themselves because of the amount of times they had to change the script between Scream 2 and 3. Fact 6: The mansion for the final act the outside and the upstairs Hallway where Tyson was killed is the same one from Halloween H20 where Laurie was running a school. Fact 7. John Milton character was based off of Harvey Weinstien one of their producers. During first Scream filming he harassed Rose McGowan (Tatum). Can you imagine how awkward it would to produce a movie that's based about you in that manor lol. Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson wanted to expose him for who he was. Fact 8. When Gale and Jennifer first met and Gale told her " I'm sorry about Brad Pitt I bet being single that was a pretty good fall back" That was another 1 liner for Jennifer Aniston to poke fun with being co-stars on "Friends" lol.

As was said down below - they had to rework a lot of the original script and take out a lot of the violence - because this was around the same time as the Columbine murders. So most of this NOT the original storyline. I have to say though - I like the quirkiness of it.

You can't rely on the rules to survive. In fact, the first film proves the rules don't matter. Rule 1: Never have sex. (Sidney has sex and survives) Rule 2: Never drink or do drugs. (Randy gets drunk and survives) Rule 3: Never say "I'll be right back". (Gale says it and survives) You may not have been able to guess Sidney's brother was a killer, but you also didn't guess Billy's mother was a killer. This was meant to be the end of the trilogy. So the ending was meant to signify that Sidney had earned having the door open and feeling safe. At that time, there was no intention of a Scream 4. That didn't come until over 10 years later.

This to me is not the worst of franchise. I love it just as much as all the others!! Because I understand this was filmed around the time of the columbine shooting, and so the whole story had to be re written alot and they couldn't have all the violence and gore in cinema at the time. But i love the comedic aspect of this one. These movies have always been super meta and mace fun of themselves and movies, so i thought it was greatly done. Also, remember mark kinkaid for when you watch scream 5!!

On the audio commentary for this movie its confirmed that. Angelina was supposed to be the 2nd killer but Wes Craven cut it from the script. Thats why she looks suspicious in the movie because they only remove the key parts. From the original script because in the original script Angelina and Roman are dating. So as Wes Craven put it it kinda had a incest Viv because he was dating an sleeping with someone that. Was playing his sister in the movie so in a way it could look like he wanted to date and sleep with his sister. That was one line that Wes Craven would not cross so he removed it from the movie. For people that don't understand Wes Cravens thoughts on it. Let me explain on the audio commentary for the original The last House on The Left. Wich was the first movie that Wes Craven ever wrote an directed. The audio commentary was made like 40 something years later after the remake was made an released. Wes Craven said that after making The Last House On The Left he never wanted to make another. Movie as dark as that movie ever again. Then that statement is backed up on the bonus features an things for the original A Nightmare on Elm Street. Because in that original screenplay or script Freddy Krueger was a child molester an child murder. But then Wes Craven cut out the child molester part. Because he said Freddy Krueger being a child murder was already dark enough. So he did feel the need to make it worse by him being a child molester on top of that. But even tho Wes Craven cut out people openly saying that Freddy Krueger was a child molester. There is still hints of it in the original A Nightmare on Elm Street movie. For example like like how when Freddy Krueger is taking or interacting with. Nancy he always did that wird an inappropriate thing with his tongue. So even though no one openly said it in the. Movie there was still hints of it in the movie from the original screenplay or script. So Wes Craven removing something like hints of incest from Scream 3 makes perfect sense. Now in the original script it also played around with Sidney. Hallucinating and saying things that were not there. Like her dream about her mother when she fall asleep on the couch. But that hole idea was never really fully went into in the movie.

Scream 4 was the movie that introduced me to the franchise and I have a special affection for it. I hope you like it a lot! Scream 5 to me overcame the 4, but I still love the same! ❤️

The script is VERY different from what we got. The opening scene was originaly from some random actor who played in Stab 3 but Christine was her girlfriend, not cotton's. In the end the dude was supposed to go to teh Hollywood sign and found his girlfriend massacred like Casey and hung up on the Hollywood sign (before he himself got killed)... It was way brutal but Columbine happened and there was the hole "violence in cinema making people violent" debacle happening. So they went with a more comedic and less gorey film..

Scream 4 marks the return of the original writer Kevin Williamson, you should check out some of his other movies after scream. He has a new thriller called “sick” streaming on peacock, came out a month or two ago, plus the movie, the faculty 1999 or the tv shows Dawson’s creek or the vampire diaries (he co-wrote the first 2-3 seasons) - both tv shows streaming on hbo

This movie was doomed to begin with. Even Wes Craven wasn’t satisfied with it from the constant leaks of the script (Angelina was suppose to be the 2nd killer) the Columbine shooting ( a lot of the gore /killing were taken out) Weinstein, etc. even Wes touched on the sexual harassment of Weinstein, and this was back in 2000. Over 20 years later and his finally in jail. It’s still an entertaining movie though.

When you finish the movies, I hope you’ll consider watching the TV series. At least the first two seasons and the Halloween special.

This movie isn’t nearly as good as the ones before but I still loved parts of it and it really left the door open for Scream 4, which is by far my favorite Scream after the first!👻🔪

Just wanted to point out (if no one else has yet), the line that Cotton said to the killer at the beginning, “So are you a big 100% Cotton fan?” is a reference to his talk show called “100% Cotton”. Lol but yeah, otherwise it would be a super corny line 😂

I definitely would have loved to see the original scream 3, before it got re wrote. I'm a huge Stu fan, and am awaiting his return. So, the original script was going to be Stu was in prison and has like a cult of ghostfaces, and was gonna running them from in prison. But obviously, they didnt want it to be set in a scool again because of the columbine shooting. But all the comments in this movie about the scrip re writes is making fun of all the rewrites they went through.

Though this movie will always remain my least favorite of the franchise, it's definitely the funniest. Parker Posey is in a different movie than the rest of the cast, and I love her for it. I honestly don't know how I would get through the movie without her.

Wow what if Carrie Fisher was actually the killer?? I’d shit

There are no bad scream movies but this is my least favorite. It’s a the most over the top cheesy. The Jay and Silent Bob cameo, the Carrie fisher meta jokes. It’s just a little too over the top for my liking. This was supposed to be the final film of the trilogy with no new Scream movies after. They made the first 3 scream movies in a 5 year span and then didn’t make part 4 until 11 years after part 3. The ending with the open door is to symbolize that Sidney is finally free and doesn’t have to worry anymore. She can leave the door open after years of locking herself away. I nice way to end the trilogy. I do think the clues are there that the killer could be a sibling of Sidney. After we learn that Sidney’s mother went to Hollywood for a couple of years. We knew from the 1st movie that Maureen was promiscuous and slept around with both Billy’s dad and Cotton Weary. So I do think they planted the seed that those years in Hollywood messed her up and was the reason she maybe had some sort of ptsd going back to woodsboro afterward.

You should get into the rabbit hole of the original scream 3 .. enjoy lol
