I just now found this channel- Awesome! I'm a big fan of Nathan Foster. I believe very few in this world come close to his, all around, work.

Certainly.. thank you. We are very lucky here to be able to hunt these year round. Although best in winter when their coats are epic

What's the twist rate on your 7mm? Debating on the 7PRC or 7 Mag 🤔

1-8.5 but have used the 180gr with factory sendero barrel was 1:9.25. worked fine. Mild loads get 2850-2900 and hot node around 2940-2970. Very similar to PRC . We finding PRC a bit faster so can go shorter barrels but very similar really

“My legs are tired but my cup of full!” Great words after a great hunt. I can’t wait until next year. I’m booking my flights in the next week or so. Best time to come if I want to chase deer and tahr in the same trip?

Thanks mate.. I'd say April I'd ideal for both. Red deer roar and the Tahr will be getting into their winter coats

7mm is a great round?
@ChasetheWildNZ
@ChasetheWildNZ Жыл бұрын
Yeah it's a great option. Very good BC and hits HARD. The 30cals do kill very well too but the BC let's them down until they are high gr . Over 208gr they start to catch up to the 7mms ballistics

@@waylove04 I think something like a 7mm08 or 284 or 280 would be perfect. Are we talking smaller deer or big reds? Do you hand load?

I don't reload and this will be our first Deer season hunting for whitetail.
@ChasetheWildNZ
@ChasetheWildNZ Жыл бұрын
@@waylove04 a 7mm08 using the factory 139gr American white tail will be perfect. Especially if you can supress it or a brake on it for the young fella. I've used that ammo on fallow deer and pigs to 350y easy. If you need to shot further then the expedition hunter ammo will do well to 500-600y without issue
