The temperature is rising. The cool mountains of Austria and northern Italy are very different from sea level in mid August. I've already got a sweat on just packing up camp, so this is where the mesh jacket really needs to work out for me!
Thankfully the ride is really comfortable, from Bolsano Del Grappa down to Trieste where I stopped for a coffee and something to eat. My hunt for somewhere to park the bike close enough to a cafe was comical, got there in the end though.
The roads led me through a bit of Slovenia and into Croatia where I stopped and camped by the sea at Camp Selce. The weather was amazing and the rest was much needed.

Touring in a car is like watching a movie, touring on a bike is like being in the movie. Some great vlogs keep them coming , oh and you have another sub, first tour was 1982 from N.I. to France still touring at 62 with my wife.

I agree. I do enjoy driving too, but riding a motorbike is like living your best life. So good to hear you are still touring with your wife. I'm connecting with so many people that have loads of experience and loads of stories. Would be so good to hear more. Thanks for the subscription and taking the time to comment!

I know what you mean about the sense of achievement when it comes to rolling up the Wingman. The more you use the tentthe easier rolling up becomes and the tighter the roll the less you see of the roll when looking in the wing mirrors! Thanks for the tip with an extra set of pegs for the non-awning side, improves the ventillation.

Thanks mate. It's quite funny the kind of things that bring joy when you're on a bike trip! Love the wingman, will be reviewing it this weekend on a trip to Snowdonia.

Great series - so good to see that a nearly 30-year-old bike, with no abs, no traction control, no electronic bells and whistles, can perform so well on such an extended journey. You're a natural to camera, too. Keep 'em coming!

That's very kind of you mate, much appreciated. Yea, the Thunderbird really is a tank of a bike. Not a hint of any issue for the whole trip - quite something for a bike that has done 35000 miles and is almost 30 yrs old. Impressive machine!

Loving watching your trip! 👍 I fancy riding to Turkey which I know well as lived there for 7 years some years ago and my wife is from Istanbul so am planning taking my Tiger similar route in summer to Bodrum spend some days relaxing there and then riding back to U.K. I will probably go via Croatia and Montenegro into Greece and maybe pass in to Izmir via ferry from Greece. Wishing you a fab new year 🥳🍾🥂

Yes the only downside of riding on your own is keeping an eye out for the bike all the time. However the plus side is that you can do what you won't when you won't 😂 I've recently done northern Spain, andorra and france 2500k on my own and really enjoyed the freedom 😂😂

Thanks. The bike really has impressed me. These things are built like tanks. Next to no plastic, everything is over engineered (making it a bit heavy) and very little in the way of electronics. Can all be stripped down with a small toolset from Halfords! It's the perfect bike for a ride like this. Can't wait to do it again.

I'm enjoying this trip of yours.I'm planning on going to the Black Forest this year. For me, only downside to motorbiking other than kit security,is, as you say not being able to walk/ explore as and when because of the safety kit we have to wear.I read somewhere that you speak a few languages but was surprised you didn't list Bristolian as one ! ( not that you have a strong accent at all but be proud - lol)..oh ,and the other downside is of course that once you've toured you cant wait for the next one .Richard. Will you be doing a review of the Wingman tent- is it on the wipe board? (advantages / disadvantages). To be honest I'd never heard of it or seen one before.I use a Vango 250 Alpha tent which I think I picked up for £70 as it was a DoE scout recommendation with separate sleeping bag / pad. It does look big but of course it's a 3 in 1 .I rode down to Lyme Regis Sunday on B roads just for some Fudge and some mental well-being ...freezing but I learnt my lesson a few years back and invested in a heated jacket and grips - layers only last so long. @@richardfews2113 I am actually doing a proper review of the Wingman. Next weekend I'm away in Snowdonia, possibly taking the bike, but more likely to be travelling with some friends and their 4x4's. Either way the wingman is coming with me and it will get the cold weather test. Review will follow about a week later I'm thinking.

@@thebristolthunderbird I bought the Keis Jacket ( not vest) and it's great.I also bought their gloves ( shorties) .Whilst my mate loves his gloves (normal style) and wears them as his preferred glove I would recommend trying them on .I have short fingers and all designs are a bit long. Also it then becomes a bit fiddle to connect to the jacket if you are on your own ( could be me) but you do have a battery option which removes that but of course it more expense. On the other hand you can use them for other activities. If I'm on my own I prefer my Richa Gortex "crab / two fingered" gloves with my heated grips.Good luck in Snowdonia; I hope it's a bit warmer than this weeks weather !

Thanks, yes my name is Matt! Would so appreciate your feedback, the negative stuff too. It was not totally sure I would put together a KZfaq channel, don't have much experience with it at all. Getting a lot of views, comments and subs are going up daily, bit of a surprise. Anyway, would appreciate your feedback mate. Please send it over. Can DM me via instagram if you don't want to post it here.

@@thebristolthunderbird I don't do Twit or Insta etc. so no DM poss. You know the TV warnings in films and News clips... " waning: this contains flash photography" or words to that affect. Well your hi-speed parts of you riding through countryside have the same affect, as the flashing lights do for those people who need such warnings. So, my one and only neg. comment would be to slow down your fast speed insets, if only by a third..., that would make viewing much easier and allow us to see, and take in, a little more of what you are wanting to show us, in comfort..., even if it extends the length of the video. Anybody who enjoys watching and following your channel will not mind an extra 5 mins or so, quite the contrary. Otherwise I have nothing but admiration for your style and presentation of vlogging. I've now watched all your offerings on this channel and look forward to future instalments (as also the return journey?) Thanks for all so far. Carry on carrying on!
