Poor Thomas Briggs, all over a watch and chain! Nothing has changed today, all these years later. Still being robbed and murdered for some precious metal in London. So sad. Brilliant case BC, I love these Victorian/Edwardian murder mysteries. Thank you 😊

This is quite the case. Just imagine the shock Herr Müller from Köln must have felt to see cops and witness awaiting him and the end of his journey across the Atlantic Ocean. This is a great example of hard work and a dogged, unrelenting police investigation. Müller’s confession at the time of his death closed the book on the crime. Another great video, and I thank you so much.

Strange if the motive was robbery that the wallet with money remained with the victim...

I assume that Muller wasn't a career robber, so he only took the belongings he spot on the victim while traveling alongside him. It is also possible that Muller panicked, thinking he could get caught at any moment, so he skipped the search part in an effort to dispose of the body asap.

Fantastic case. I’m always amazed how easily people could be found in the days before adequate communication and no video cameras. Of course, there were a lot of people put to death who were innocent or deported to Australia.

@@kevinmayers4346 Bratwurst is a German style sausage. It can be pork, chicken, beef, turkey, or vegetarian. It is so good!! And apfelschorle is like a fruit drink. Way healthier than soda. Try it if you can!!

Another great story. I really liked this one because I’ve been building my family tree and discovered that my great grandfather and beyond lived in Wiltshire. The pictures gave me a view into the lifestyles of the period. I wish I could go back in time to the industrial era (well immunized however), and meet my ancestors. Thanks! ❤️

What a tragic story. While I believe they got the right guy I wouldn't have wanted to decide this case. Today they could have used DNA on the hats and had more concrete proof. Also I would never want to go to a hanging or any public executing. How gruesome.

At least he owned up to it. So a poor man lost his life for nothing much. Franz nearly got away with it as well

Great case as usual BC! I'm sure that if we still had public executions, spaces would be oversubscribed! People in general are fascinated by sudden death....they can't get enough of staring at road traffic deaths and taking cellphone videos, not to mention murder sites! Dr. John Mayer, a clinical psychologist at Doctor on Demand, says looking at traumatic death actually triggers our survival instincts - some kind of primal response I suppose!
