16 year-old Sonny Kim ever since he was a child was described as extremely gifted. Sonny grew up very advanced for his age and as young child took a big interest in computer science. Sonny’s knowledge and understanding of computers excelled and he landed a job with a computer company at just 13 years-old. Sonny then (with a 160 IQ) graduated high school at 15 and at 16 attended the Georgia Military College where he majored in Computer Science. Sonny also had a warm and loving family with his mother Nicole, father James and 23 year-old sister Ashley. It seemed like everything in Sonny’s life was going really well. So in 2016, 6 days before Christmas, when the Martinez, Georgia police station receive a call from James Brazzel saying that his 16 year-old son Sonny Kim had shot and killed his daughter, Ashley Kim then attempted at killing him and his wife, this was a shock. Investigators would later uncover what Sonny was actually going through behind closed doors and the terrifying motive for his crimes.

He's not talking in third person, he's just talking in a way to indicate how detached he is from himself and the rest of the world. Third person is if he says "And then Sonny shot his sister"

I feel like it's definitely a psychological snap that caused it. if he were heavily disassociating, and having horrible intrusive thoughts, it's very upsetting and distressing, like you're watching a movie through your eyes and have no control. it's horrible, and I'm glad he's getting help.

Yeah like everyone in the family said that everything was great and they all had a really good loving familial bond. If it was only one person saying that then I might thing it was bogus but literally everyone said they all were getting along and loving eachother before this horrible event. It leads me to believe that he is innocent. In mind. I can't imagine living with this on my conscience and not even be able to say why it happened. I hope everyone is doing better and figuring things out. Getting the help they need.

This is a heartbreaking case. I feel just as sad for Sonny. He is clearly suffering from severe mental disease. Thankfully he is getting treatment- I hope he gets the help he needs. Devastating that Ashley has lost her life and their parents essentially losing both children. It’s devastating all around.

Something might’ve happened to him when he was child and it was so traumatizing that he doesn’t even remember. His brain locked it away to keep him safe, but his sub conscious never forgot….. there was a case in Germany where a man murdered 5 people during a psychotic break and during the case it came out that he was sexually assaulted as an infant. The guys who murdered 5 people didn’t even know about it, but his mom confessed that an ex partner r worded him when he a baby. She said she prayed that what happened wouldn’t affect him later in life…..

Now…I didn’t go and harm people because I was scared of my self..like your soul really gets trapped. But I was scared I might loose control and do stuff that I can’t control or ever feel. “Luckly” I was so scared of it that I developed anxiety,which made me “scared” more than uncontrollable. It’s a scary thing people so I don’t judge on this one.

hey girl. ive been watching for years- just a tip i think you could benefit from- just make sure you're watching interviews and not just reading articles about these topics because you pronounce sonnys name incorrectly the entire video. while of course hes a murderer and he doesnt deserve his name to be said correctly- i do remember this happening for you in the past with victims and it just feels a bit disrespectful and like youre not researching as much as you could be. these are real peoples stories and you owe it to them if youre going to make money off of sharing them, to at least say their names correctly. again, i love you girl but this is just something ive noticed many times in your videos.

I see some others said this, but to clarify, speaking in the 3rd person is when you speak about yourself as a separate entity, using me as the example, as opposed to saying "I walked into the room," I would say, "Nicholas walked into the room." And I would say that I don't hear him separating "himself" from his body, because he reminds me of myself in some ways, & to be clear, my mental illness makes me emotionally distant, & I see things very rationally, logically & analytically. Lots of psychopaths & sociopaths have these issues, whereas my issues are less dangerous, personality disorders.

WOW I wonder if something 'broke' inside his mind/body, he did have a I.Q. of 160 or something, so maybe whatever 'broke' in his mind was way worse then if it had broke in the average persons mind? I think him not being able to taste things(or everything tasting like burning plastic/metal) for a year and a half after this happened is maybe something doctors should look into, maybe its something that can be prevented in the future, maybe it is connected with the 'genius' brain? This is just what I think anyway.

Question, did no body catch the fact that he first stated that he loaded 7 rounds and another 7 round clip in his pocket, but then its said he unloaded 8 rounds in his sister which then turns into 16 by doctor's review of the body...that would mean he would have had to change clips to get 16 and the parents didn't react by 16 shots right in their living room... And lastly why would he have trouble loading the clip in his parents room from having no experience with firearms when he obviously had no trouble doing it the first time in his room...
@natezoe855

Sometimes they consider 1 shot as it went in the body and the 2nd shot would be coming out of the body. So he probably did unload 8 rounds but they went in and out which would be considered 16

Hi Hailey! I love a lot of your videos and hope you have a happy new year! As a person who has autism in their family I just wanted to mention a few things about this video. When you first mentioned his IQ I had a thought pop up maybe he could be autistic, because a lot of autistic people are very intelligent! (It’s so cool what talents autistic people have!) Autism is a pretty important topic to me, as my sibling is autistic and I honestly think myself and parents might be on the spectrum too (I don’t want to self diagnose, but it is hereditary). You mentioned the fact he has Asperger’s which is the same diagnosis of Autism, but the term Asperger’s is actually very harmful to autistic people. I don’t think this was any fault of yours, just the articles you got your information from using the wrong term (probably because they were also unaware). Hans Asperger’s, the doctor the term is named after, is an AWFUL guy. Just do a quick google search. But I just quickly wanted to share that information with you, and if there’s any chance you can edit out that word, and if not it doesn’t really matter. I just wanted to share that info with everyone here! /g I also did want to say this is truly shows the importance of keeping guns away from kids/people mentally sound. Something as simple as morbid curiosity can, and obviously do, have serious consequences. I truly don’t want to victim blame, but I could NEVER imagine hiding a gun in my child’s room. If any of my siblings or I had access to a gun, things definitely would have ended in tragedy. Rest in peace Ashley
@hyde1893
@hyde1893 6 ай бұрын
Yes exactly! I think it would have been fair of her to say "he was diagnosed with Asperger's at the time which we now know is part of the autism spectrum" or something along those lines if she wanted to mention the exact diagnosis the doctor's gave him, but it's important to let people know so they don't keep spreading misinformation. Asperger's doesn't actually exist, Autism does

The talking to himself about computers makes me think this is undiagnosed autism or OCD as someone who idpendetly studies mental health, it’s used as a coping mechanism but I can see how if that was encouraged Al your life instead of seen as un normal or the product of something else intead of a “gift” it would encourage be natural of him to think about killing,and not be able to stop thinking about it, because he’s never been taught that too much of any kind of thinking can be bad no matter what it is and acting on our first impulses and to continue thinking about something even when u don’t want to.

I feel like although he says his life is good, it had no purpose, it's meaningless, it's empty. Being a human being in today's world is pretty sad, there's a lot going on, mental health issues are being talked about a lot more now but I think it's a little too little too late.

If he doesn’t think he should be released, I don’t, unfortunately. He knows he cannot control his mind and doesn’t want to hurt others

It’s pronounced “Sunny” Hailey…. The lack of research and attention to detail really takes away from your professionalism and credibility.. pay attention!! Also that’s not “third person” 🤦🏽‍♀️ it’s distracting girl.

I agree with you but youve commented this type of thing on many vids of hers. Why do you still watch?

@@kayjane2806 1. Why do you feel the need to stalk my comments? And 2. Because when my other favorite content creators haven’t posted new content yet, I still have Hailey to watch. No matter how irritating she is. Any further questions?

@@ariellefitzgerald1222 its actually pretty easy, you just tap on the persons profile pic and it shows their history of comments on the channel. I did it because Ive noticed these comments in the past and it made me curious. I just found it odd 🤷🏽‍♀️
