THE STELVIO PASS: The Bristol Thunderbird Day 5

THE STELVIO PASS. Lots of GoPro riding footage as I wanted to film lots of the ride up and down the pass. If you've not been to or ridden the Stelvio then you can take a look at the journey and what it looks like here. It was by far the most amazing ride I have ever done. The scenery and the incredible roads make for an unforgettable ride. I have to say I was super impressed with many riders I encountered on the roads, taking the bends of the Stelvio like pros! I also met a lot of cyclists on the way up and down the Stelvio too. Riding a pushbike up those mountains means you are a different type of beast all together - hats off to my non-motorised 2 wheels friends!
The ride took me eventually to to Bassano Del Grappa in Italy where I had a pizza with more meat than it had bread. I liked that. The local beer was also lovely.
The temperature is rising and I'm feeling that, the mesh jacket is starting to pay itself off!

It's such a wonderful experience to go biking if your gal rides with you on her bike, so... Dear Mrs Thunderbird. After a few years of riding pillion and her talking to other women riding their own bikes, my lovely lady finally deceided to get her own and take the tests. It has now been a couple of years since she finished it all, and she's now been riding 18 months with no restrictions, on a big bike and we are having a ball. The kids have all flown home, and when we go out biking, wether on a bimble, a weekend out, or on holiday, the closeness and admiration for each other is very heartwarming, along with the excitement of sitting down with an opened map to plan the next trip. Facit; please sit down and talk to each other about doing at least the prelimary test for a 125cc and deceide after, if it should go any further. Even if it stays at the odd ride over the Severn Bridge or a weekend on the south coast, i'm telling you, Riding as a couple, does wonders for relationships and clearing the mind, should you get to the point where you fancy a ride out alone. Think about it, but don't let yourself be pressured. Happy Days, best regards from Steve and Eve.

Epic ! Sort of puts Hardknott pass in the Lake District into perspective, what a memory and the perfect bike to ride it, how do some of these other bikers ride the pass so fast, my brain doesn’t work that quickly !

Totally agree. Some of the bikers I met on the roads rode like pros and some were just a bit crazy! I can't wait to visit that part of Europe again.

Great Vids Bristol…..keep up the good work from a fellow Bristol boy Withywood….been a few years since I did the pass once done never forgotten… hope you got your Stelvio sticker from one of tourist’s shops at the top with a coffee Bristol boys make more noise!! Safe journey

As Austrian I know for sure that this breakfast is definitely not typcial - however, I hope you enjoyed it. In regards to the Vignette - the regulation says "...stick it onto a clean and, above all, non-replaceable part of the motorcycle (e.g. fork or tank)." - so putting it on the tank was perfectly fine (this front mounting thing applies only to cars). If you don´t mind, drop me a line - would love to exchange about Turkey - thanks & stay safe

I came across your channel a couple of days ago and binge watching my way through. Loving it. I'm hoping to take my Moto Guzzi to the factory later this year which is on Lake Como. Tempted to adjust the route to take in the Stelvio Pass. I live at the bottom of West Brecon Beacons. If you come over this side let me know so I can let you know some great roads.

Thanks mate. Love the Moto Guzzi's. Sounds like a brilliant trip over to the factory. The Stelvio is really breathtaking, worth a trip.
