"The warning signs were there, flaring up from Nicholas Giampa’s pseudonymous Twitter feed for over a year. The alt-right lingo and the swastikas. The advertisements of violence.
Giampa’s girlfriend’s parents, Buckley Kuhn-Fricker, 43, and Scott Fricker, 48, were aware of the teenager’s burgeoning extremism. Kuhn-Fricker had found frightening tweets from Giampa on her daughter’s phone. Twitter was where Giampa, a Papa John’s employee and an anime enthusiast, let his malevolence run amok.
Kuhn-Fricker and Fricker had seen enough to say something. Days later, Giampa fatally shot them in their Virginia home, police say.
HuffPost has found his tweets, written by “Kevin Gallo” under the handle @doctorpepper35. They suggest a 17-year-old who’d drifted beyond the trolling of his teenage peers on the internet far-right and was fully in thrall to the racist, apocalyptic fantasia of white nationalism."*

I was assaulted on the job back in 2011 and almost died from the assulters. I was called every racial slur under the book for being gay to being Hispanic. When he went to court for assualting me I truly believed in the justice system would find him guilty and award me for my bills and trama. Unfortunately the judge only took about five minutes with him and let him go free with no punishment nor being responsible for my medical bills which were way over 5,000. I could not believe it!! I did nothing wrong but do my job. I'm a very very poor parking attendant and he had accused me of stealing his vehicle. Come to find out his friends moved his car on the street as a prank. No justice in Houston Texas if you are Latino and gay. If you are a white racist you can do whatever you want with no penalties. I can say from experience that is a FACT. So this story does not surprise me one bit. White privilege? Why would someone say that exist? That's crazy talk. Right?

Remember the courts can only enforce the policy made by politicians, they can not create it. So it seems stupid that a minor can be tried as a adult. This is a problem with congress and not a problem in the law courts.

Daniel Broome If you're rich and white, it heavily favors innocence. If your poor or not white, it doesn't give two fucks about innocence, even in northern states. My brother in law was arrested dozens and dozens of times when he was in middle school and dozens more in high school because he was half black (pretty light skinned) and they were looking for a dark black guy in his 20s. They weren't the same height, weight, and body type. Even though my brother in lae had ID, they'd still remove him from the movie theater (eventually, they'd arrested him so many times that they'd think the guy they were looking for went to the movie theater). He bought a total of 50 movie tickets he never got to use. My neighbors have three black kids and one white kid. The oldest black kid, Nick is 14. He was hanging out with a group of his white friends over the summer. The cops arrested him while walking past a construction site (an old factory that burnt down). All of the white kids were allowed to go free. The black kid? Charged with criminal trespassing while walking in the sidewalk. I've had to intervene several times when the cops have hassled him.

Steve M well I mean more in concept than execution in the USA. I'm from Canada so it's quite different here. If it was applied properly to everyone then THIS case wouldn't be an issue. It's not that he was rightfully tried as a Jr, the issue is others aren't. What I'm saying is he should be and others should be treated the Same, not to say he should be tried as an adult because other minorities have been. That's change in the wrong direction imo

robi london sadly its true. My friends and I all have diverse backgrounds. We grew up tightnit and never thought that it would come to the point it has. Maybe we were complacent in what we taught our kids, taking for granted they would learn from our behaviours. Different states, judges, DAs, cases, etc. You cannot make a direct side by side comparison like that by looking at only age and race. There are other factors. Not agreeing with this situation here, but you also can't just make blanket statements like you are.

If you are going to have laws that are built upon treating people differently based on their biological age, then the implementation of such classifications should not be subjective no matter the crime. The fact that there are so many examples of prosecutors treating this legal distinction as something they can waive whenever they feel like it is blatant hypocrisy.

Not going to defend him but the parents are pieces of shits either way. They forced their daughter to break up with him (clearly, she didn't want to). The parents also felt the need to report him to the school claiming he is a danger because of his views. Their actions are that of a deranged sociopath, forcing their beliefs down other's throats. The guy got mad, went to the house and killed the 2 parents and not the ex or other family members that were there. TYT won't mention all these nuances but it makes a difference in motive. I'm glad they're dead. Sad that it came at the sacrifice of some kid's future but now at least the daughter doesn't have libtard parents trying to dictate her life anymore. She's free to live how she pleases now...

+XPuppetManX She may see this as her parents being right about him all along and as a result, stay as far away from right wing ideology as possible. She could certainly be traumatized by the event so I wouldn't necessarily see this as a positive in her life. But I definitely agree that they deserved it. Sad he shot himself since he may have gotten out in a couple of years with being tried as a minor and all.

I'm sick of the double standard, the law needs to be harsh based on the crime he committed. Twitter needs to do a better job of detecting and shutting down all the different forms of hate speech on their platform.

One of my cousins shot and killed someone when he was 17, tried as an adult. Rightfully so, he hung around a gang and wanted to be a part of them. Gotta love double standards

DrMacintosh Legally, in the US, you are a minor (at 17.)* What kills me is the uneven distribution. Some 17 yr olds get tried as adults, some do not. They need to decide an age of culpability and stick to it. *edited for clarification

They only try them as minors when its one of their people. If he was Muslim or Black, he would've either been killed already, or be charged as a adult.

SuperDuperSentinel The problem is, we gotta draw the line between minors and adults (legally speaking) at some point. Choosing someone’s 18th birthday is as random as it would be if we chose someone’s 17th birthday. It’s problematic and I don’t know the answer, I’m just saying the law does have to draw the line somewhere and there’ll always be individual cases where it seems ridiculous.

He murdered two people in cold blood. There are ten, twelve and thirteen year old's that have gotten life sentences in the past for exactly this same reason. I have to admit that according to medical science our brains are still developing at that age but he still should be able to tell right from wrong! And they are so right when they say if he was a black kid they would try him as an adult as in most cases involving black minors they usually do!
