Today we take a look at the upcoming World of Warships Tier 9 Russian destroyer Neustrashimy, which I consider to very much be a Russian Fletcher. Though it might not excel as much as Fletcher in some areas.

its tier 9 so it mostly likely be FXP, but then again we got ships like black but that was originally a reward for ranked seasons (now purchasable in shops for steel)

I wonder if DDs will be as popular when they are spotted 90% of the match after the new CVs are released? I'm a DD main and I'm a little worried about the stealth DD play style.

ill buy it if its for coal or exp but probably not steel i dont do enough in game right now to get steel, but from your video it seems like a buffed Ognevoi with better concealment

As a DD Main, it looks like it could be an interesting addition. Seems to be a fantastic skirmishing ship with workable ranged guns, good detection and fairly good torps. It might lend itself to some interesting situations that otherwise you could not do. Worth looking into anyway IMO.

I may not be a dd player, but when it was first shown i liked the looks of it and now I am really liking it. I know that if it is purchasable with money I will be tempted to snag it.

Steel nope but coal or FXP, yes as a predominantly DD player I would pick her up. One aspect that greatly interests is to be able to swap out commanders and completely change the playstyle without ruining the effectiveness in battle.

I am excited, but since all my Soviet DD commanders are gunboat builds, I worry that it focuses too much on its torpedoes.

Interesting ship, its a good side grade to the udaloi or tashkent. Its what id call a good sidegrade, cause the tashkent and udaloi are pretty niche themselves, so this ship allowing you to cap better or ambush does give a unique playstyle without being a no brainer pick above the tech tree counterparts. Generally if im in a premium ship, enjoying it, but find myself wanting things from the in tech tree ship, and visa versa, thats good balance. The only "no brainer" ships really should be those worth steel or rediculous amounts of freexp just to keep oversaturation in check... (looks at all the rampant stalingrads)

Not typically a DD guy, but I agree for those of us who are either on the fence or not DD-Main Liners, it will depend on what the cost is....coal is likely going to see more playing this ship, Steel is going to have FAR fewer takes.

Have you heard about the clan name purge that GW did last week. My clan name [Beers] has been taken away after having it over 2 years. Weird that Beers was offensive sinse beers and ships go together so well. Anyone else have their clan name taken away last week?

I dont have gremyachi, got kronstadt but its better having a destroyer premium for my destroyer captains, I thought this was a kotlin class without missile and ASW upgrades, its weird grozovoi goes with 39 knot while this does 36 with one less turret and also reloads slower with same guns

Thanks for the preview Zoup - Looks like Tier 9 Grozovoi with one less turret and a little better stealth, interesting. I for sure will be picking one up, seems like they could buff the reload a bit to 3.5/3.6 instead of 4, but I guess all Russian ships can't be OP. :P

Only Stalingrad is OP and its behind a steel wall. Otherwise there are not any available "OP" Soviet ships.

@@propcflorida No, you won it from lottery lootbox. You cannot buy it in-game or on their website aka it is not available ship. You might as well could have won Belfast or Kamikaze, both are also OP and not for sale.

Am I gonna invest in this one? Depends on how it'll be purchaseable. I'd buy it for free XP, and maybe for coal, depending on how much it is. I won't buy it for steel or real money.

"Tell me what you think about this ship..." *begins typing* "...you hardcore destroyer mains!" Whew, close one. Almost answered there! I'll leave it to the HC DD mains :P Seriously though I'm intrigued although I don't really equate her to the Fletcher as the Fletcher is a jack of all trades and master of two in my opinion. Especially when pitted against the Udaloi, Tashkent, Z-46 (?), etc. Kitakaze is an unfair comparison as she's definitely a one-trick pony as is the Jutland. I'll definitely be watching this one develop though. Want to see how they package her. I'm guessing it'll be coal or...maybe we see our second cash purchasable T9?

basically in the current state, is a Upgraded Ognevoi, interesting ship, for my if is for real money or steel i pass, for coal or free xp....perhaps XD

Interesting ship. It looks like it will be the worst gunboat in T9 (Yuugumo seems to have better dpm than her). Those torps could use some buffs, cuz she fits a torp boat more than a gunboat from what I'm seeing.

Just because it is a dud doesn't mean improvisation won't result in an explosive result. 5.6 km concealment? KM DD can out spot her with hydro... almost. The heal will secure its' success when alongside Daring and Jutland.

Two Turrets? Sounds like the Yubari my first ship from back in CBT lol But I don't think it is a true Russian DD as it is not the size of a Cruiser lol

Neustrashimy (Неустрашимый) translates as "Fearless"

Being a destroyer right now is pretty sad. But no, I’m a pass if it’s steel mainly because no captain of mine past grozovoy has toro accel. The black has a good captain.

Looks kind of like a Grozovoi 'lite', though with better concealment. For players who want a taste of that playstyle, but don't want to grind the line, I think it would make a lot of sense. For Groz owners, I don't really see the value.

Well. As a DD Main, I am excited to see WG finally add a T9 DD. After the whole spam of T9 - T10 BBs and Cruisers, It is nice to see finally WG add a Destroyer. Neustrashimy looks like a fun Destroyer, especially since she is actually a proto-Grozovoi, but with way better torp reload, one less gun turret. I just hope it will be Free EXP or Coal or both ship, I do not want a T9 Steel ship, I already have Black and I want to save up for Stalingrad or Bourgogne ooor... potentially a T10 Steel DD if there will be ever one.

IIRC she was supposed to have missiles before they looked closely at that idea and said "Fuck, no." On some secret server, well away from prying eyes, she probably exists in her original form. It would be fun to see what made the missiles so completely imbalanced when the earliest guided missiles of ALL types had a real-life history of being terriby unreliable.

It looks 100% underwhelming sadly. All that concealment is not going to save you when you get into a gunfight at those ranges. It would need a big ROF buff to make it able to hold it's own not to mention by just having 2 turrets it will be really easy to loose half your DPM.

It’s original tier 9 designs in split Russian DD tree. Was replaced for no reason with Udalio. WG running out of money and again CC trying to sell u .. crap! No soup for bonuse!

Now why would I want to play this ship, when Grozovoi exists one tier higher, which is a small price to pay for being better at everything. As for same tier competition, it's Torp Alpha is pathetic, and the guns are anemic, a Yuugumo has better DPM than this, this would make for a better T8 all things considered, it's hardly better than Ognevoi just going by stats. Almost every DD this ship can face will beat it in a straight duel, while all the others are still better at their niche. It should also be noted that this ship, like Grozo, pays for the huge consumables with having only one base, 2 for Def AA, which makes stuff like smoking allies extremely risky. only real upside is that a Grozo Captain synergizes well with this boat.

Tinkertörtchen Take premium consumables and superintendent . So 3 smoke charges, I don’t take superintendent on any DD just khaba and Grozo.

Reason to take.. 1: Premium ship; Prints money, prints elite XP, prints Commander XP 2. Generalist DD; Not super specialized. Being NOT min/Maxed is it's own type of Min/Max. Non flexible thinkers need not apply. 3. It's looks sufficiently good in all area's to be competitive purely from the ships capabilities. That makes it a "Captains" ship. It's not going to carry poor players. Especially poor DD players. 4. I can all ready see that it's going to have at least one thing it does better then each and every DD out there. How you take advantage of that is on your skill as a player. You will earn your chops in this ship. No Free Lunch. If none of the reasons above are good nuff for ya then that's all on you. Ships are just tools.. the real weapon is whats between ones ears and how they use what they have. Me? I take this ship in competitive play in an instant just from what I have seen so far. After 3 years of this game every ships is either OP or trash. The truth is the ships can be neither or both, and can do both extremes at the same time. There is only one single sure fire way to find out if YOU are good in a ship and that's to take the beastie out for about 100 match's and see how she shakes down. Warlord sends

While I agree Udaloi is out of place in it's tech tree branch, I don't think Neustrashimij belongs there. It's just a copy of Grozovoi minus one turret and 5.6km concealment instead of 6km. Too similar to make this a T9 imo.

That's pretty much what the idea behind this ship was in real life too. Grozovoi is a design the Soviets never built because they decided it was too big and expensive. Neustrashimy was a scaled down version combining the layout of Ognevoi with the radar and guns developed for Grozovoi.

As much as I like DDs that can "do it all", this doesn't seem to be very good at anything. Torps are ok but kinda slow reload. The guns are also ok, but there aren't enough of them. You will have a hard time going up against other tiers 9-10 DDs IMHO.

Given the other options available, hard pass. Great DD players will play well in almost any DD. Unless it’s unique or aimed at mid-tier players, not that compelling.

fletcher upgraded torps do 5k more damage per hit. ognevoi does more torpedo damage for fuck sake.

Meh... At the tier there are too many other options that will fill any role you choose better. These non-specific ships just end up disappointing in my experience.

Hardpass for me, nothing special, mediocre at best at everything. Same levels as fletcher torps? Nope, this thing have 19s higher reload with more than 4k less alpha and 500 meters less range, however, those torps remembers me a lot the torps from the german DDs, and still, it reloads slower (german DDs can drop those things each minute almost, but they're quad launchers). For me, they should cut the reload of the torpedoes by like, 10 to 20 seconds base, to be more torpedo focused like the ognevoi, this will bring this thing on pair with other's tier 9 DDs, saw a bunch of CCs playing it live and there's nothing this thing can do that other's DDs can do better. Inb4 they will give this thing an option to mount radar and smoke, and since it's russian, they'll add a longer range one (like 9km).

Jacques Braga Szmelcynger Jr it’s a Grozo that can face T7. With 5,6km it’s really good. WG did same thing with Yamato/Musashi. Yet many people enjoy the Musashi being pretty effective and sometimes having fun on T7. Same will be with this one. I suspect it will be for coal cause many people want some non steel T9 premium DD. So I’m collecting the coal :)

DD (of any tier) = Hard pass for me, but I also know better in that I prefer firing the big guns of cruisers and BBs. Just never liked that type of gameplay in any game. If they made a game mode with only BBs, I'd play the heck out of that game mode. I keep waiting for a DD to spark my interest, only one that I get a giggle out of every once in a while is the Derp-ski and the ohatnik, and maybe kamikaze/fujin.

Zoup talking about something he has no clue about ... there are definitely RU DDs with good concealment for the tier (Gnevny, Ognevoi, Grozovoi) ... ah, why bother ... he does not care anyway as clearly shown in the video ... Jingles is at least funny with his inaccuracies ....
